Do my mean Mogenar? That boss had me struggling as well - I actually found the first the hardest part of the game. Maybe it has to do with getting used to the controls.

My strategy was to attack his red balls and once his weakpoints are revealed attack in hypermode. I also shot the balls when he reaches for them to refill my health.

What Aim-Setting do you use? I tried it on advanced I think and that worked quite well - although I had four tries myself.

Yeah, I mean Mogenar (Molgera is an enemy from Zelda :heh:).

I don't think it's the (Advanced) controls in particular that are bugging me... Thing is, you'd he's really not that hard as his attacks are easily avoided and he gives you free energy all the time. However, taking out his back ball (and back hole) is a real pain in the arse, and later on he becomes just too quick for you - there's no way to keep sustained fire on any of his holes. And when he goes on rampage, he seems unstoppable, as apparently, you have to plant an infinite amount of bombs at his feet to let him go easy. It's especially frustrating because the fight takes so long, and you're working to get him down and then you fail when you feel you have him.

I'll be so happy though when I finally beat that bastard :)

The secret to beating Mogenar is patience. Nothing more, nothing less. Like you said, his attacks are more or less easy to avoid and more importantly he gives you energy all the time, so the key is patience. Patience to not attacking him for a few minutes, just toy with him whilst you collect energy, because you need the energy to enter hypermode anyway.

Destroy one ball, then avoid his attacks. When you destroy his feet with the bombs (it doesn't take that many bombs, they just have to actually hit his feet; if you can hit his feet, about 4 or 5 bombs are enough for each foot) don't go for the next ball right away, meaning don't destroy it with hypermode, simply overcharge it and let him try to get a new one. Then destroy the two balls he tries to get for energy. Wait till he tries to get more and repeat for more energy. When you feel you have sufficient energy to keep going, that's the time to destroy another ball and then repeat till he's dead.

As for the back ball, leave that one for last. After you've destroyed all front balls he will occasionally start turning his back to you and you can destroy that ball easily. It will take more time than the front balls because he turns after a few moments, but again, patience is the key for this boss. If you don't have at least 20 or 30 minutes to spare, don't bother fighting him.

Hope that helped and good luck. :)

You don't even need that many, 3 bombs on each foot is enough.

That's an interesting strategy. I just went in, wiped out his balls, and then wiped out his holes (gay porn game ftw :heh:). Taking them out one at the time should work better.

Will try it, thanks!

I'm buying this game tomorrow, and the guys at IGN say this is to be played with the control setting in Advance mode, should I believe them?

You should believe them. Advance controls are faster and more intuitive to play with, it can make it harder to aim sometimes cos the cursor moves more easily, but you'll get used to it.

It's awesome no matter what you choose. I played it through with the medium-or-whatever-it-is-called control scheme, and it was still as delicious as when I tried it out on advanced.

Nah, Advanced is the definition of first person games. May take some getting used to, but you'll blast away after an hour or two. Normal was included for 'the new gamer', but I don't know why they included it, as it isn't any easier, it's just slower.

Also, if you want MP1 and MP2 grade difficulty, don't start on Regular difficulty but on Veteran.

Thanks guys, I just want to play it the way the devs made it to be played and changing its default settings might hinder the gameplay.

Default settings on Wii often aren't what "the developers want" but instead what Nintendo thinks the "casuals" would need to avoid being put off. Advanced/Expert mode is definitely what Retro would want.

How would you know?

The game is so much better when you use advance controls. Also change the shoot and jump buttons around to shoot: B, jump: A.

Advanced is where the cursor pretty much stays in the middle of the screen?

I massively prefer standard.

I'm not sure what you mean? The cursor goes wherever you point.

I think the main difference with advanced controls is that when you lock on, you can aim around too. Meaning that you can strafe around whoever you lock onto while shooting anything else thats about without having to change your lock on. If you know what I mean. Just try it and see.

Isnt that the default control scheme?

I tried using A to jump and B to fire for a while, but I didn't find it working well. Using A to shoot is hammered into me because of the previous games, which I played to death.

What I mean is that turning starts pretty much when you move.

The lock-on thing is the same for all tree control settings. It's a different option entirely.

I agree.

That applies to all control schemes.

I agree. A is for shooting, B is for jumping, or else the control scheme for Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime Echoes would have been different.

Advanced is by far the best console control scheme i've ever played with. It's ridiculously good...and to think MoH2 manages to somehow out do it....crazy.

Aye ok, I admit defeat. :p I've only played it on advance, it was someone else (who we have now identified as a noob) who told me that that was the difference between the control schemes.

You are right and you are wrong. ;) Yes, turning starts as soon as the cursor moves, but the cursor does not stay in the centre of the screen.

The best way to describe the difference of the 3 sensitivity options is the size of the bounding box. Advance has no bounding box at all. And it works great, after getting used to.

I'm surprised that so many people own the game and don't know this...

I'm finally making progress in the game now.

Beat Mundiblabla with the tactic, worked like a charm. Pretty much cleared Sky Town now, having obtained the Boost Ball and Plasma Beam in some rather easy boss fights. I'm now off to Bryyo to obtain the Screw Attack so I can progress on Elysia.

This game really starts to grow awesome. The latest levels are really well designed and pretty (I love bloom lighting ), the music is excellent, and the controls are just sublime. What a fanastic game this is so far.

Why have I not bought this game yet when Prime was clearly my favourite game on Gamecube. Also loved Echoes.

I think it's because I have not completed either of those games.
