Gizmo Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 How quickly do lovefilm receive the games when you return them? I think I'm gona use this to get some nice games during my summer holiday, but I just wanna make sure of a date when I need to have sent the last one of by. And what is the date gonna be 90 days from now? ^__^
Guest Stefkov Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I swear if you change package, you lose your free months? Check your next payment date, it should be Oct. You do I went to change it and it said if you change you lose the 90 day trial and you have to pay there and then. I feel in a murderous/sniper mood tonight. I think I'll just casually play Gears until a new game comes along. If anyone hosts tonight. Change most of the weapons (pistol/hammer burst never leave that on) to sniper. kthnxbai
Guest Stefkov Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 That's a bit hypocritical, only 8 pages back you accused me of playing games to get the achievements. What are you doing there?
Tellyn Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I agree with Stefkov. When he so much as mentions achievements, you come out with "OMG ACHIEVEMENT WHORE" or some clever remark about him only playing games for achievements. Hello pot, this is kettle. You're black.
Guest Stefkov Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Apart from the fact that TMNT is the only game I have ever rented in a long time. I think achievements add to the longetivity of the game, otherwise I wouldn't have the console. I do go outside, hence you know..the clothes. And finally you don't even know me so quite simply, shut the fuck up. Oh and its whore. Don't call me something you can't even spell.
monkeyking87 Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Im not getting involved but it seems to me that things here are pretty black and white, no grey area. Its seemingly a case of one rule for one and another for another......
AshMat Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 What's wrong with achievement whoring? I find getting them quite addictive.
Calza Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I mean mate, your the biggest achievement points hoar I think I have ever seen! You havn't seen much then.
theguyfromspark Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 The couple of times me and Stef have played Crackdown for some achievements have been great fun and we probably wouldn't have had that experience if it wasn't for achievements. Therefore, for me, achievements are a great addition to the Xbox360 feature set. Looks like there's a new rule for the 360 thread: every 10 pages there must be a mini debate about achievements... I like it!
Guest Stefkov Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I don't understand your logic, if all the Pro Evo achievements were boring, why did you sit through and play some of them? Surely that was a waste of time? And there's plenty more worse players than me. If you even knew me I only buy the odd one or two game every month. And even so it's game I want to play. If the achievements look good and fun to get on it then why no to go for it. Crackdown achievements. Were it not for them I wouldn't have spent countles hours having fun, online with people. Just ask Caris, Sparks, Chuck, anyone, who I've played with on this game. Instead of moaning at me, and telling us how you don't like people spending too much time having fun on their consoles why not just go to Microsoft and moan to them. Why not go to the mygamercard.net leaderboards and mesage the thousands of people who have their gamerscore above 10,000? Surely it'll be more satisfying telling thousands of people they are whores instead of just the one?

Surely it'll be more satisfying telling thousands of people they are whores instead of just the one? I'm with you on this. I really enjoyed Crackdown co-op getting some of the achievements with you, and I've got satisfaction out of something like Dead Rising getting the 54,000 kills achievement. And yes, I've got King Kong and TMNT and I probably wouldn't have them if it werent for the easy achievements (and they only cost £25) but I did enjoy TMNT, and I haven't really played through King Kong as I've found it a bit boring so far. I actually miss achievements when I play Wii games. I like the way they give you objectives to aim for. Some are dull you're right, and I don't get why people do it if it's not fun, but still it's not anything to have a go at someone about.
Bluejay Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Congratulations Stef, your basis to counter the truth was with a spelling mistake - I applaud you! As a neutral all I will say is grammar based counters are the greatest. Looks like there's a new rule for the 360 thread: every 10 pages there must be a mini debate about achievements... I like it! I'm calling the next one, I accidentally started the last two lol.
Ant-Shimmin Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 In my view if your obsessed about achievements, you are not enjoying the game... I personally play the game and the achievements are an extra sweetner...
Guest Stefkov Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 In my view if your obsessed about achievements, you are not enjoying the game... I personally play the game and the achievements are an extra sweetner... Which is what I believe, but if you have a gamerscore above 7000 then you play only for the points some believe. I can't be bothered carrying this on. Just wait 10 more pages and carry on the 'discussion'. Right now I want my Assassins Creed demo!

Yeah I get that alot too, Maybe it's because alot of my mates have Xbox 360's and I tend to Trade in Alot, Out of all the games I have played I own about 6 of them....
Gizmo Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Wow. I was going to type up a huge case here but you know what, this argument is so old, I can't be arsed.
Dexter Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I agree with Stefkov. When he so much as mentions achievements, you come out with "OMG ACHIEVEMENT WHORE" or some clever remark about him only playing games for achievements. Hello pot, this is kettle. You're black. Ha Ha! Awesome!
Guest Stefkov Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Wow. I was going to type up a huge case here but you know what, this argument is so old, I can't be arsed. Do tell I'm intruiged. (In a spoiler you shoujld have done it, saved the effort) Geometry Wars is one of the most graphically stunning games I've played. And the most fun I've had in ages.
Guest Stefkov Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I was excited about the 10k mark because of a friend who I'm trying to catch and have overtaken just a moment ago. And when did I get excited over TMNT? I just said I was lolling around and saw it then rented it. I'm sure I was over the moon when I came on here to tell everyone of my adventure and how I bought a game just to get achievements for. ffs
monkeyking87 Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Its not because your score is over 7000, its the way you carry yourself around here. You constantly talk about achievements on 360 games and not alot else, I've seen you talk many times about being excited at reaching 10k and renting TMNT was the cherry on top. It is obvious to me, you get a little carried away at getting achievement points. But do you! And Dexter who the fuck are you exactly? Im sure hes wondering the same about you
Gizmo Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Do tell I'm intruiged. (In a spoiler you shoujld have done it, saved the effort)Geometry Wars is one of the most graphically stunning games I've played. And the most fun I've had in ages. Nah, I never even bothered starting. I didn't know where to, literally. I exasperated myself. And yes, yes it is. Hobbz, I don't see why people who like achievements affect you. Achievements are like set out challenges - if someone says to you "I bet you couldn't jump from there to there", you want to try it anyway, to challenge yourself. But, if its too far and you'll get hurt, you wont. Thats what achievements are. You being challenged. Some people like to be challenged with these special things. Lets say Crackdown. Without achievements, would you have tried to blast a car into the air for 7 seconds? But because of the challenge, its a nice little distraction to do. Bankshot Billiards, you are challenged to compelte x amount of games without letting the opponent take a shot. A nice challenge which in the end makes you better at the game. So why not go for it if you're gonna have fun in the process? I'll leave it at that.
Marshmellow Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 That was very well said Gizmo. I completely agree. And Dexter who the fuck are you exactly? He's member 3037.
AshMat Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Yeah, if there were no achievements, i would've only played Crackdown for 1/10 of the time easily.
Owen Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I love the achievement/gamerscore idea, but i'm crap at games so haven't got many... My mate has thirty two thousand gamerscore i believe which is superb! He buys crap games for the achievements, which is hardcore.
