Ubisoft and Vivendi announce some games--including Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion--have slipped past Friday's launch date.

European gamers hoping to get their hands on all the previoulsy announced PlayStation 3 launch titles this week may have to revise their plans. A total of five titles will not be making it to shelves on March 23, according to a last-minute announcement made by two top publishers.

Bethesda Softworks' epic role-playing game Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been pushed back to April 27, and Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent will now be on sale the week after the console's launch, March 30. Other Ubisoft-published titles that won't make the launch are Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, coming in June, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, which is now touted as "Spring 2007."

Vivendi Games also confirmed that supernatural themed first-person shooter F.E.A.R. will also not be a launch title for Europe, and will likely be released on April 20 instead.

Customer safety concerns lead chain to choose breakfast launch for PS3.

Leading specialist chain GAME has opted not to open at midnight for the PS3 launch this Thursday - following advice from the Metropolitan Police.

The chain's Oxford Street store was originally planning to hold a midnight opening event on Thursday (March 22nd). However, following consultation with the Metopolitan Police - and, given the high value of the PS3 consoles - GAME "has put its customers' safety first" and made the decision to open the store at 7am on Friday (March 23rd). As the GAME statement points out, this will guarantee that gamers have access to public transport and can safely take their consoles home in daylight.

The first 150 gamers to have pre-ordered the PS3 are invited to attend the store at 7am, where they will be greeted with bacon butties, pastries and coffee. They will also have the chance to claim Sony goodie bags.

"The launch of the PS3 is a big deal to our customers," said GAME's marketing director Anna Macario. "We are managing the launch so it is safe for them, and the only thing they have to concentrate on is securing their new console."

HMV has also opted not to open at midnight on Thursday. Virgin Megastores, meanwhile, will be hosted the official launch event at its Oxford Street store.

do you mean konami or am i lost as to what you were questioning?

No I was on about capcom about dmc4

true enough probs, but they should've been able to do the recent big PS2 games for the new PS3 people who never owned one. I mean not getting FFXII working on there or Disgaea 2 is soooo annoying.

still waiting for the 360 update for psychonauts . . .

But it states that

FFXII is working and Disgaea 2 works on it though.

FFXII **

D2 * - They still bloody work on the console though.

Major or Minor issues do not make me happy! grrr lol

Sidenote: Comparing this BC list to the 360 BC list is totally ignoring the fact we're getting a neutered console.

Well done to those who imported and aren't getting a gimped system. May your consoles last significantly longer than the initial PS2 shipments and facilitate you with many nights running some amazing games as intended without having to dig out and plug in your PS2s (assuming you have them).

They'll run, sure, but what sort of issues do they have? The fact of the matter is that if the game has any compatibility problems you're better off playing the games on a PS2 — or an import PS3.

Still, so long as Sony don't 'pull a Microsoft' we should see most major titles patched relatively soon. I hope.
