pedrocasilva Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 In my hotel room.Just be patient everybody. This week will bring forth some interesting and exciting news. Even though there are some nda's flying around this week. But hey all I can say is just wait. I can't wait unti E3. Oh Sony, Sony, Sony. I have some interesting things from developers. Good and bad. But Sony fans should expect lots of news also. hehehehe, have fun on our behalf over there But yeah, Sony should unveil some stuff, I wonder if Nintendo is gonna overshadow them, I'd love them to... As for the good and bad things (about Sony)... shall we start off with the bad ones? And what about Nintendo? Is there a "bad" news part? Nevertheless enjoy yourself over there :P EDIT: Oh and by the way what hours is it there? and when does GDC open it's doors?
Stocka Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I'm really hyped for thursday now, thanks to this: Its the GDC showfloor. Bloody hell look how much space they have!.... ...interactive lounge?
Kurtle Squad Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Looking good. Let's hope they own the floor at E3 too!!!
ShadowV7 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Wow i'm happy with the amount the space they have, things are looking up for them hopefully they'll steal E3 aswell (most likely will )
Sarka Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I just realised that they could have playable Rev's with Zelda in it, no need for any Rev game footage or Rev games announced, but people can play the Rev with Zelda in it. Perfect! I now think that the main announcements will be Zelda based, new footage, Rev controller compatiable, playable Rev controller etc.
Jamba Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 They had about the same space at Gamestars in 2004.
guarana Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 when are people gunna talk about what was said at GDC ? thursday?
system_error Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 when are people gunna talk about what was said at GDC ? thursday? That depends on what do you want to hear. Iwata will talk at the 23.03.06 from 10:30am to 11:30pm depending on your timezone you will have the information some time at thursday
Mike Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 But doesn't the expo open on Wednesday? If so, we're bound to hear some reports from that tomorrow.
Myke Greywolf Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Uh, did every one here completly forget about the zelda trailor shown at last years GDC? Isn't that game footage? Well, that's the reason why I said it should have information relevant to developers, and not that it actually has it. Anyway, I don't really need game footage at this time... I'd be happy with a couple of tech demos, just to showcase the controller.
mike-zim Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I think this will be a kick ass. i really cant wait. especially with the disappointment that was D.I.C.E
The Lillster Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I think this will be a kick ass. i really cant wait. especially with the disappointment that was D.I.C.E Nintendo never said that they were going to announce anything though! So it's your own fault if you were disapointed.
mike-zim Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 i know that but i have been starved of Revo info for so long!!!
Delhijo Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Even though there are some nda's flying around this week nda's?? what are nda's?? Oh Sony, Sony, Sony. I have some interesting things from developers. Good and bad Hey Big Tac, can you say the news about Ps3???.I want to know what is happening with sony. I don't hate sony or microsoft I just love nintendo and video games.
Mike Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 nda's?? what are nda's?? Non-disclosure agreements. It means people have had to sign things to say they won't tell other people about what's going to be announced until Nintendo / Sony / whoever, are ready for everyone to know.
Hellfire Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 NDA is a non disclosure agreement, it's basically a contract that prohibits you from divulging something. The penalties for breaking a NDA differ from contract to contract. EDIT: Beat me to it
Delhijo Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Thanks! So that means there are amazing things going on!!! I can't wait!!!
Nintendork Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Apparently the organiser of GDC is totally biggin' up what Iwata and Ken have to say.. whether this is just him hyping up based on an educated guess or whether he has actually seen the notes or rehearsals of what is going to be shown or something is not for me to say. I'm guessing a fair amount of work goes into a keynote presentation and speakers will need to provide media for the event in advance so it can be set up. If Nintendo did so chances are the organiser has been handling this secret media personally. I am thinking something good will come from Iwata's speech.
pedrocasilva Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 ^ Ken is not gonna speak at GDC (I think) what's anounced is a "Phil Harrison" keynote...
Nintendork Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Oh right, slightly lazy of them.. Never heard of this Phil fella, but I'd never heard of the French Marketing director and he blurted Zelda recoding news so I wont disregard him on reputation alone.. He'll probably have good stuff to say.
pedrocasilva Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Oh right, slightly lazy of them.. Never heard of this Phil fella, but I'd never heard of the French Marketing director and he blurted Zelda recoding news so I wont disregard him on reputation alone.. He'll probably have good stuff to say.he was the guy that, a week before PSP launched in Europe said "DS is just gimmick and sells for Pokémon alone". Sony's Phil Harrison goes crazy on Nintendo DS "With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." "Nintendo knows its target audience, because it has really narrowed that down; and it's pretty much defined by a boy or girl's ability to admire Pokemon." Source: http://joystiq.com/2005/08/26/sonys-phil-harrison-goes-crazy-on-nintendo-ds/ yeah... using a PSP for listening to MP3, browsing the Web, viewing Porn and UMD's isn't gimmick, I repeat it isn't gimmick it's just our imagination... Seriously he's a idiot looking for attention bashing the others (we wouldn't even of his existence if he didn't go berserk on DS...) I'd even be happier with a Ken speech... (and I don't like Ken at all)
Retro_Link Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 http://www.cubed3.com/news/4781 Nintendo Revolution Final Name Confirmation? According to Computer and Videogames, the Revolution's final name may will be confirmed at the GDC in San Jose on Thursday. Whilst the site may just be speculating, it is certainly a strong possibility. Expect it to arise at some point during Iwata's keynote. Could turn out to be a clever move by Nintendo, it'll certainly steal all the headlines. We're crossing our fingers; the Revolution name has already caused enough hideously pun-tastic headlines. Further to that, Akiteru Itoh from Japan's Media Create has speculated/confirmed/totally made up the following whilst talking to BussinessWeek "There are rumors that the Revolution could be released as early as June. If that happens and Nintendo sells around one million units, Sony could have a harder time catching up," I'm kinda hoping they stay with Revolution as the final name, everyones got used to it and it's a good name as consoles go (better than PS3, Xbox 360)! It's seems strange that after all this time of calling it Revolution/Rev, that it may not be! and I just hope if there is a new name that it's just as good (creates a good image)!

Yeah, these are the exact words. FiringSquad: Finally, is there anything else you wish to say about GDC 2006? Jamil Moledin: Yes, I would strongly recommend attending the two platform keynotes from Sony’s Phil Harrison and Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata. Trust me!

I imagine he's doing it to increase publicity of his conference, wouldn't you? ;-) Link is here if anyone's interested: http://www.firingsquad.com/features/gdc_2006_interview/
