  1. Zack & Wiki

Bought it. I'm liking it so far, but I haven't got to the really frustrating parts. I'll update my opinion later.
  2. Wii Firmware update: 3.0U/E

Many LAN Adapter (both Nintendo and Datel) users are reporting that, after the update, they are unable to connect to the Wii Shop Channel and News Channel, with error number 51420-9. All other online features stay operational. I'm included in that number. Does this fit your problem, Sméagol? It seems like Nintendo hasn't really tested this update properly before releasing it... The workaround is to use a wireless connection, but that doesn't invalidate that the update has made many LAN Adapters partially useless...
  3. Mario Strikers Charged Football

I just got mine from Gameplay. Their shipping rates for Portugal are lower than Amazon's, and their track record is perfect, as far as I'm concerned.
  4. Mario Strikers Charged Football

Here is a good explanation by NeoGAF's Drinky Crow: Get it now?
  5. Virtual Console - All you need to know

Dante's numbers are for downloads made by NeoGAF members. Dante, please delete them as they are misleading.
  6. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams

I was asking Hellfire to credit me for the translation, as he copied it from NeoGAF where I originally posted it. And you took the credit as soon as you omitted it.
  7. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams

Pelo menos diz que fui eu que traduzi. Ou pensavas que eu não ia ver? ;P
  8. Virtual Console - All you need to know

Bad news, people: it seems like Nintendo has pulled the plug on little birdie for good. I haven't been able to detect any ROMs in the server in the last few days, despite all my efforts. It seems like I won't be able to give you the scoop on new VC releases anymore. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. I'll keep on trying some new tricks from time to time.
  9. Virtual Console - All you need to know

Here's an european Wii Shop Channel server uploaded ROMs update, and I know someone who's going to be very, very happy: - Unidentified NES game - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) - The Story of Thor (Megadrive) - Vectorman (Megadrive) - Sonic Spinball (Megadrive) I'm still waiting for the screenshots, in order to identify that NES game. I'll update when they're uploaded.
  10. Virtual Console - All you need to know

It's not the same game, you know.
  11. Virtual Console - All you need to know

New ROM and screenshots in the european server: One of the hardest games ever. :P Thus, tonight's releases should be: - Ice Climber (NES) - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES) - Splatterhouse (Turbografx) Have fun! ^_^
  12. Virtual Console - All you need to know

New ROMs in the european Wii Shop Channel server: - Story of Thor (Megadrive) - Vectorman (Megadrive) - Sonic Spinball (Megadrive) No screenshots for these ones yet. Unfortunately, no signs of LttP, ShadowV7.
  13. Virtual Console - All you need to know

On the front page, click the button on the bottom ("Start Shopping" or something like that). Then, click "Virtual Console", "List by System", and choose "Nintendo 64". It should be listed there.
  14. Virtual Console - All you need to know

The stuff in the european Wii Shop Channel server is still the same as last week, but now with screenshots: Let's hope they put up something more before tomorrow night.
  15. Virtual Console - All you need to know

The ROM I had listed above as "unidentified Turbografx game" has now been identified, thanks to the uploading of screenshots for the US version. So, the unreleased european ROM's currently in the server (and possible releases for next week) are: - Ice Climber (NES) - Splatterhouse (Turbografx) It is likely that more ROMs will be uploaded until next Thursday.
  16. Virtual Console - All you need to know

That would be Double Dungeons. And it's Myke, not Mike. More screenshots are up: Let's see if they upload any more screenshots before tomorrow night...
  17. wii game drought?

No drought. Sonic and Excite Truck just came out, and are very good games. Get one or both of them. Kororinpa is supposedly fun too, and you might just want to try Super Monkey Ball if you missed it. Also, SSX Blur and Heatseeker are coming out soon, and look pretty good to me.
  18. Virtual Console - All you need to know

Update on the ROMS in the European Wii Shop Channel server: - Galaga (NES) - Ice Climber (NES) - Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES) - Double Dungeons (Turbografx) - Unidentified Turbografx game Screenshots are now up for: I think that five games is too much to release in one week, but at least the ones with screenshots will almost certainly be released this week.
  19. Virtual Console - All you need to know

They're teasing you. There's a new ROM in the server. This makes it: - Galaga (NES) - Double Dungeons (Turbografx) - Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES) No screenshots yet. And I'd say that this is probably all we'll get this week. Bear with it.
  20. Virtual Console - All you need to know

Uploaded to the european Wii Shop Channel server: - Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES) (ROM only) - Double Dungeons (Turbografx) (ROM only) I'll update if any other ROM's or screenshots appear.
  21. Virtual Console - All you need to know

Screenshots are now up for: - Sword of Vermilion (Megadrive) - Bio-Hazard Battle (Megadrive) - Streets of Rage (Megadrive) - Chew Man Fu (Turbografx) Here they are: Therefore, these will probably be tonight's releases on the european VC.
  22. Trick to Boot GC Imports on your PAL Wii

Here are the results for my tests: - Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 (NTSC-J): Doesn't work. Screen goes black, nothing happens. - Baten Kaitos Origins (NTSC-U): Works, but displays big black bar on screen bottom. Otherwise playable. - Freeloader 1.06B: Works. After loading, you can swap the disc for any of the above games, and they work perfectly! Therefore, I must agree that this workaround is mostly useful for people who still have a GC Freeloader.
  23. Virtual Console - All you need to know

Thanks for the nod, Aussie - I'd just like to point out that I'm not particularly fond of these findings being posted as proof of impending release this week. I did that in the beginning with the whole "little birdie" thing, but that was before Nintendo noticed people were doing this and started getting sneaky with their server uploads. The facts are: these ROMs are in the server, but there is no way to know if they will actually be released this week. Going into a little more technical detail, for your information: Just like all the games for other Nintendo systems (*), each VC game has a 4-letter code. This code includes: - The original system (first letter): --- F: NES (Famicom) --- J: SNES --- M: Megadrive --- N: Nintendo 64 --- P: Turbografx (PC Engine) --- H: Wii downloads (such as Opera and the Everyone Votes Channel) - A unique 2-letter code that identifies the game within the games for that system. For VC games, it appears to have been assigned in alphabetical order from AA, going all the way to AZ, then A1-A9, then BA-BZ, and so on. - The region the release refers to: --- E: NTSC (Americas) --- J: NTSC (Japan) --- P: PAL (Europe and Oceania) For instance: --- FAGP: Super Mario Bros., PAL version --- JAGJ: Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo, Japanese version --- MAQE: Streets of Rage, American version These 4-letter codes are embedded (in encoded form) in the URL's for all web server resources pertaining to that particular game - both the ROM files and the screenshots and web pages used while browsing the Wii Shop Channel. So, I've said that there are still no screenshots for the ROMs I found this week. And I can download the ROMs, but since they're all encrypted, there is no way I can tell which game they belong to just by looking at their contents. So, how can I say so surely which games are these? Whenever I find a PAL-version ROM, I take a note of the 4-letter code for it, and replace the final "P" for "E" or "J". Then I look in the server for screenshots of the american/japanese versions of the game. If these screenshots are present, I'll most likely be able to identify the game. If not, then I can't identify it. That's why, last week, I couldn't tell right away that the N64 game was Ocarina of Time: it hadn't been released in any other territories, so there were no screenshots. All I had was the 4-letter code that told me it was a N64 game, so I posted "unidentified N64 game". As I said before, if Nintendo uploads the screenshots, it's an almost sure sign that the game will be released in that same week. If I see the PAL-version screenshots, I'll go ahead and say "this game will be released this week" with a straight face, since I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't put the screenshots in the server unless they were ready to release it (although they might still want to postpone it for other reasons - it's a small risk). Nowadays, they're only uploading the screenshots on Thursday afternoons. Last week, I hadn't the chance to snoop the server around that time, otherwise I would have said "all the games I listed before will be released tonight, but Chew Man Fu probably won't, since I still can't find a screenshot for it". In other words, I advise all of you not to take these lists as sure releases for the week until I (or someone else with the means to do it) announce that the screenshots are up. Until then, it's just a list of games that will eventually be released (and probably soon), but not obligatorily that same week. All in all, it's not an exact science. (*) To find the 4-letter code for your Wii, GameCube, GBA and DS games, look on the back side of the game box, near the bar code. For instance, in this cover, we can see that the 4-letter code for the PAL version of F-Zero GX is GFZP. Try to catch'em all!
  24. Virtual Console - All you need to know

Indeed it is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_of_vermilion Also, I just finished another "snooping" session. New ROM's have been added to the server: - Streets of Rage (Megadrive) - Sword of Vermillion (Megadrive) - The Story of Thor (Megadrive) - Chew Man Fu (Turbografx) [ended up not being released last week] ... but I doubt all of these will be released this week.
  25. Virtual Console - All you need to know

ROMs currently in the EU Wii Shop Server: - Sword of Vermillion (Megadrive) - Chew Man Fu (Turbografx) [ended up not being released last week] No screenshots yet for either of these. And I'm on my knees praying that Europe will get some Neo Geo goodness (King of Fighters 98, pleeeeeeease)!
