Tattoo

I am going through a very tough time at the moment, and i have decided to get a tattoo based on this, with an optimistic feel about it.

I have drawn 2 designs, 1 small that would be on the inside of my left wrist, under my watch strap, and another which is based on the first that is bigger and would be on the inside of my left lower arm. Im not sure which one i'm going to go for yet, as whilst i prefer the larger one having a larger, semi-visible tattoo might affect me in later life (jobs etc).

I was just wondering if anyone here has a tattoo, what its like getting one, and anything i should bear in mind. other than the whole 'you'll have it for the rest fo your life...' argument.

You should go for it if you really want it is what they say. Choose the one you prefer out of the two since it'll be with you forever.

Don't worry about the bigger one i don't think; since every job that wouldnt like it you'd be wearing a shirt anyway really; so long as your not tattoo riddled you shouldn't really put off an employer.

thats why you need to be 18 to get them done!

Its a dig at me, but I laughed.

As for the old and wrinkly thing, who cares, being old isnt about looking good. Its about judging people younger than you and claiming that the next generation is useless.

No its about having an attention span of a knat and changing what you like every five minutes.

Now seriously, the question you will want to ask yourself is what would the 40, 60, 70 year old me want (if want it at all)? Also you said that you are going through a difficult patch and even with a slightly optimistic hint to it, you are still going to be branding yourself with something that you link to that. Might just be a better idea to let it go. (Sorry if I'm sounding a little patronising btw).

i understand what you mean, and I have considered it.

The idea behind my design is that this isnt the first crap thing to have happened to me, and it wont be the last, and i've got through every hard time before, emerging stronger. Its supposed to be there so when this is over I can look back and know that i have the strength (inside myself, with friends and with god) to get through any bad times.

From experience i can say that once you get one you'll want to get more.

(But what about the pain), well yeah it's gonna hurt everytime, the first will be the worst, just grit your teeth and try to go to a happy place in your head haha. If you do get more you get used to the pain easy, i got 5 (7 sittings) after the 2nd it was no painfull than beinging scratched alot.

Like was said before if your worried about job interviews, your gonna be wearing a shirt anyway so it's gonna be covered.

It does mean that you wouldnt be able to wear a short sleeved shirt in that job though.

cheers for the thoughts!

I am ghoing to ring up a possible future employee soon (hopefully tomorrow) and ask their policies. Like you say, if i do wear a long sleeved shirt it will be fine.

I hadnt thought about the pain, as im actually needle-phobic, so that was my main concern! but im going to give blood soon, as if i cant manage a needle for altruism, i have no right to manage it for personal reasons.

and yes, you can see a design. I have given my sketched to a friend who is a comic book artist, and has actually drawn 2 of his own tattoos to sort out. But you wont get the full meaning as its pretty personal.

When I'm old and grey, I wanna look like a respectable OAP. Tatoos are not part of that image, Being wrinkled, decrepid and covered is pictures that looks like shit is not my idea of groing old gracefully. When you're 60, you'll regret having that tatoo of the blink 182 bunny on your lower arm....(my mate got this tatoo, looks cool now, will be shit and what not later on)

Tattoos are kool, it just sucks you have to be 18 to get one. Damn parental permission law! Go for it dude, I will in a few months. I wanna get my right arm sleeved in tribals, possibly with "KoRn" on inside forearm.

....and when you pass through this terrible affliction of rubbish music, you'll punch yourself in the kidneys!

I'm needle-phobic too when it comes to the doctors, but oddly i did almost enjoy getting my tattoos.

oh and on giving blood, do that before you get the tattoo, i remember reading somewhere that if you get a tattoo you can't give blood until after 2 or 3 months i think it was.

Shows how much you know.

Todays pensioners are of the generation where conscription existed, and with the armed forces comes tattoos. I've met plenty of pensioners who were ex navy/army and have had tattoos, they weren't ashamed off them, exposing them on hot summers days, and they didn't look that bad either.

And these days tattoos are socially acceptable with plenty of respectable people haing them, I can quite easily see tattooed pensioners being completely normal 40 years down the line.

Why feel the need to insult me? Ive been a KoRn fan for 5 years along with many other metal and alt metal bands, why the hell should I stop now? Instead of taking shots, post something constructive.
