Julius Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) More updates coming on the future on the VII Remake project on Switch 2. So that's Rebirth pending. Edited April 2 by Julius
Ashley Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Can someone explain to me the FFVII remakes? I feel like either it's been 5 years since they announced it or they keep doing new versions.

It's essentially a time travel sequel where they take the main story, split it into three games and alter it due to the time travel shenanigans. Remake is part one, and this version is that plus a DLC.

Or is Switch 2 just getting the first part and it's been finished elsewhere?

So the remake of their game is in three parts (and also not quite a remake) and the first part of the three part remake is called remake. Squenix shouldn't be allowed to name things. But thanks!

"Remake" is quite the clever name. See also, Bravely Default. Looks like nonsense word salad that Square Enix are usually very guilty (What the actual hell does Birth By Sleep even mean!?) of, but it makes so much more sense when you see the central mechanic.
Julius Posted yesterday at 01:21 PM Author Posted yesterday at 01:21 PM Creator's Voice with Hamaguchi is up: Quote Naoki Hamaguchi muses about Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2 in the latest Creator's Voice video. Shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but he ends up hinting that the entire Remake trilogy will end up on Switch 2: Quote I felt it [Switch 2] would have enough power to run the Final Fantasy VII Remake series I was creating. [...] I hope.plays are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Nintendo Switch 2. I'm honestly more curious about them using footage from the original releases of the older Final Fantasy titles rather than the Pixel Remasters... (yes I'd buy them again, re-release the originals S-E!) 1
Dcubed Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM I mean, why wouldn't we expect the rest to come at some point? Would be a bit silly to only have the first part. Switch 2 is certainly powerful enough to run these games after all. Storage space is gonna be a big issue though.

Rebirth was 145GB+ on PS5 (and came with two discs), so yeah...these games are destined to be Game-Key Cards. Going to be a hell of a feat to get this trilogy running well on Switch 2, but if ever there was a time for S-E to squeeze the hell out of a game, now would seem to be that time.

The first 2 are on Steam Deck, the Switch 2 should have no problem.
