"what do I want to play" mode

Looked through my library and found Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts.
Started it up again, immediately got back in the stealth zone. I love good stealth games :D

Ratalaika Games S.L. to the rescue? :p

Haha. I could buy my way to victory with all the garbage 79p games and double plats that are littering the store these days.

As I said the other day, I can't really be chewed with trophy hunting or with most the games on my shelf at the moment.

PS5-Pro-croquis.jpg

Official name: No surprises here, as we now know for certain that the console will indeed be called "PS5 Pro".

PS5 Pro design: We were able to obtain a visual of the front of the new console's final packaging. This gave us an idea of the PS5 Pro's final design, which has never been leaked before. For copyright reasons, we won't be able to share this visual. However, you can see below a sketch we drew illustrating the design of the PS5 Pro.

The design is very similar to that of the PS5 Slim. The console's exterior is the same white color. 2 USB-C ports and the power button will also be present on the console's front panel. The first difference to be noticed from our sketch is the presence of three black stripes in the middle of the PS5 Pro's exterior. However, the type of front panel remains similar to that of the PS5 Slim. And we imagine that it will be possible to re-use the replacement front panels designed for the PS5 Slim.

No disc drive?
Unfortunately, we're not quite sure about this yet. After all, the visual we have is of a PS5 Pro without a disc drive. However, and even if we don't think this will be the case, we're not aware of the existence of an edition with a disc drive. Although it will undoubtedly be possible to affix a disc drive (as with the PS5 Slim), we think this is more a commercial choice on Sony's part, in order to launch this console onto the market at a competitive price by reducing the cost of the (optional for some) presence of a disc drive.

Announcement date: Although Sony's plans can change at any time, the PS5 Pro will be announced very soon. We expect the announcement to be made in the first half of September 2024.

I prefer this artist's rendition of the Pro to the "Slim", at least. Gills are cool.

The potential for a Pro to release without a disc drive is absolutely insane to me, I get it as a cost-cutting reason on both the side of the consumer and of the manufacturer, but when I hear about a "Pro" model I'm thinking about the best version of that thing – which, if this thing is only available as a digital console you can add a disc drive to, it would not be.

Rest of the information seems in line with what we were all thinking, I think: basically just copy and paste the process of the PS4 Pro and slap 2024 on there instead of 2016 and you're good to go.

I'm curious, based on what has been said I can guess, but is anyone here thinking about getting one of these around its potential launch? I'd assume that would be in November in time for the holidays.

I'm kind of curious to see if the "Slim" gets an official price cut or not by then, seems very unlikely though with the price increases in Japan.

We've said it before but not only can I not see myself buying a Pro anytime soon, presumably with only 3 years or so left of the gen, unless my PS5 kicks it, I doubt I'll be picking one up at all. That money can go to Nintendo for their next console but even without that at the back of my mind, it feels like this gen has only really started with the recent moves for some new releases to be current gen exclusive, and the PS5 has felt untapped for me in terms of realising its potential outside of Final Fantasy XVI for me, that's the only game where I've been concerned about whether my console would be able to handle it based on visuals and the crazy particle effects...and it did.

Maybe my mind changes if/when we FINALLY see whatever the big-hitting likes of Naughty Dog, Bluepoint, Sucker Punch and Santa Monica Studio have next in store for us – with the Pro release coming up, obviously none of these will be ready for launch, but I really think more than ever that PlayStation need to be looking to make a promise in their next show of what is to come, and have a bunch of new and visually stunning games in the works which will "run best on PS5 Pro." I'm not just saying that because I selfishly want more games from their first parties, but unless they purposely throttle any of their upcoming titles on the base PS5 console, I fail to see what's pushing the hardware – certainly not the likes of Wolverine or Death Stranding 2, which have been in the oven for ages now anyways.

Of much more concern to me is that there still hasn't been a peep from anyone about any 30th anniversary goodies being on the horizon :( WHAT ARE YOU DOING PLAYSTATION DO THE THING AND TAKE MY MONEY

I've no interest in it at all. The PS5 hasn't even been tapped of it's potential yet. Back when I bought a PS4 Pro it was because my original model was on it's last legs, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with that. Same goes for me upgrading my 3Ds to a New 2DS and I never bothered with the newer models of the Switch either.

Ah, it's good to be back in the world of Vampire Survivors.

Did two runs just now.
Failed the first one at about 14 minutes because I didn't want to put in the effort.
"Won" the second run.

Already got 28 trophies (only 5 in the main list, though)

It seems there have been some changes to progression since last time I played it. I was able to collect a certain Grimoire which I've never seen before, I think.

Anyways. Can't wait to spend 100 hours with this :D

Just done a couple of runs on it myself. Still getting the hang of things though. My first run was great and I made a stupid amount of cash but the second  was terrible. None of the items or weapons that I wanted were dropping and so I really struggled.

How much do you know about the game's mechanics?
You never played it before, right?

I had a quick go on the Switch version when it was free for a short time. I'm still learning stuff as I play. For example, I didn't know about evolving weapons but then evolved the knife and was shocked at what happened. :D

Reached level 30 of the first stage but got killed pretty swiftly by a reaper. Is that supposed to happen?

My loadouts at the moment are the garlic, axe, whip, tome, holy water and knife. I've unlocked a fair few of the Power Ups, with Amount being my last one. I think I'll funnel some cash into Growth next.

Nice. I'll need to go back and try the stage again though as I have to find the coffin.

Not sure how far you're into the game, but I'd recommend finding a specific relic in the third stage. Makes finding things much easier.

Yeah, I have the map. Once I unlocked the 3rd stage I went straight for it. I didn't really try to do anything else on that level but from my quick experience with it I wasn't a fan of it.

Did the same :D
But I'm on a run right now and it's not too bad. As long as you don't move too far from the starting area, i.e. as long as you stay in a relatively open area it's fine.

I'm playing the game a lot differently than the PC/Steam Deck version. On those devices I basically unlocked all characters/weapons as soon as I could. On PS5 I'm currently trying to beat every stage with the first character before unlocking another one. Definitely not the best approach, but a lot of fun :D

I just wish Hyper Mode was available from the start...

I unlocked the first 3 and have just stuck with using the guy with the knives. I've not unlocked anyone else. I prefer to save the cash for the power ups.

Why the hell are you discussing Vampire Survivors here!?

But yeah, learning stuff as you play is the best way to go. The sense of discovery this game has is immense! Finding out a new way to break things over your knee is a joy!
