Star Wars Battlefront 2 (all eras)

So, uh...that's pretty wizard.

Already pre-ordered, but I think it's absolutely justified now: multiple eras, a vast array of planets, and what seems to be multiple single player campaigns (in the ilk of Battlefield 1's campaign). Also, I'm a big fan of the character designs, and that TIE/Star Destroyer mash-up of a fighter (the Imperial Raider from the FFG, perhaps?) looks pretty cool too! Extremely overwhelmed that EA listened to the fans on this one.

We should be finding out a lot more - and getting a longer trailer - come this Saturday during DICE's hour long Battlefront II panel this Saturday :bouncy:

I loved the original and still play it occasionally. 240 hours and counting. Will buy this day 1.

Couldn't care less for the single player though.

240 hours on the EA one? Nice! I've "only" managed to log 130 hours myself, and I too find myself playing it from time-to-time.

Why no love for the single player campaign, though?

As far as I see it, this game/series is primarily an online multiplayer game and that's why I bought and play it for. No other reason really. Although I didn't find the survival modes and the couple of missions I played particulary fun or interesting anyway.

Brilliant trailer that got me hyped for the story mode. Roll on November!

I see that they've also announced that there will be no season pass. They don't want to split the user base. I wonder if they are taking the Titanfall 2 approach where the maps are free and the cosmetics are where the money will be made.

I found the trailer and panel very...interesting, for one particular reason. The only real look we had at the Clone Wars era, besides heroes and villains, was some concept art for Kamino, and Phase I clone troopers and B1 Battle Droids. It was an infinitely small focus in the trailer and panel, and makes me think that we will be seeing a lot more of this era in the build-up to release (and makes me wonder as to whether or not they're keeping some cards up their sleeves, such as potential customisation options?).

Here's some more information from the panel that may - or may not - have been alluded to in the trailer:

Screenshot_4-2.jpg

• The single player campaign will put you in the shoes of the Imperial Special Forces commander of Inferno Swuad, Iden Versio. As alluded to in the trailer, the story will take place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. During the story, Iden will cross paths with many famous characters from the Star Wars universe, and characters such as Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, Yoda, Rey and Luke will be playable during the campaign. There will be many possibilities in story mode.

• There will be a tie-in book titled Battlefront II: Inferno Squad; written by Christie Golden, this novel is set to focus on the events surrounding Inferno Squad before the events of the game, and is due for release July 25th 2017.

• There will be new worlds, such as the Empire-supportive Vardos (above), introduced in the game (this planet is the homeworld of Iden Versio). These locations - new and old - will feel as if they are alive, each offering diverse options during gameplay.

• All Star Wars eras will be playable in multiplayer.

• There will be more weapons, vehicles and characters.

• EA introduces classes; you will be able to unlock new abilities as well as improving and upgrading your characters and vehicles/ships (including hero and villain characters)

• Space battles will be a significant part of the game.

• Maps officially announced so far include Yavin 4, Mos Eisley and Starkiller Base. Others seen in the trailer include Hoth, Naboo, Vardos, Takodana, Jakku and Scarif.

• The game will be available to EA subscribers (Origin, EA Access) November 9th. Anyone who pre-orders the game will receive special skins and skills for Rey and Kylo Ren based on The Last Jedi.

I still haven't played the DLC for the last one, but goodness me this looks tempting.

I like the sound of the single player though, sometimes you just want to mess about on your own and not feel like you're impinging some professional who can headshot the enemy from the other side of the map.

I want to shoot Stormtroopers, how much deeper do we need it?

Yeah, agreed. I think the risk with making this something it isn't is that you put off a big part of that userbase who just boot up the game with the intention of just wanting to kill some rebel scum.

More vehicles, modes, weapons, power-ups, skins and characters, definitely! But, keep the core of the game the same. I felt that the game was pretty well balanced and quite simple, yet fun. I'd hate for the next one to change that.

Basically, more of the same. It's not necessarily a bad thing.
