Posted June 23, 2016 is it a game you can see yourself playing for a long time to come, even if people you know stop? I haven't played with anyone I know 99% of the time. Hows the variety at the moment? Are you the same character for the whole match or is it changeable at any time like TF2? Are maps voted on by people? The only thing that tended to put me off TF2 was mostly that I'm a PC gamer - if the games are quick(how long, actually?) on this then considering Splatoon managed to get more than 100 hours out of me despite its flaws this may well be a game I should definitely get. On several occasions it looked like you were shooting at ghosts only you could see Eventually I figured that you experienced quite a lot of lag. Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) So satisfying if your team decides a match in the final 2 minutes with perfectly timed hero changes. We struggled to capture the final objetctive on Temple of Anubis. For the first 8 minutes I played Zarya because we had 2 Reapers. I figured that my protective barriers would help (and they did). The enemy team switched things up and brought a Torbjörn and Bastion (because this happens in every match). My barriers weren't helping, we kept dropping like flies because even as a Widowmaker I couldn't take out the turrets as the map layout makes it easy for them to be placed in areas out of my line of sight. 1 1/2 minutes to go, one Reaper switched to Reinhardt, I switched to Lucio. We grouped up, I managed to charge my ultimate up very quickly during the final fight. 40 seconds to go, we entered the objective, the Reaper stayed a bit behind. We held our ground for 10 seconds and then we decided to time our moves perfectly: Reinhardt smashed the enemy Bastion into oblivion while our Reaper teleported on to the objective, in the exact moment he arrived I dropped my ultimate. Next thing I saw: Reaper using his ultimate killing the remaining enemy team. Then we managed to keep the enemy from entering the objective. Lucio's Soundwave really helped with that. Posted June 27, 2016 (edited) In an upcoming patch, we will reduce the damage done by Torbjörn's turret by 30% on Xbox One and PS4. PC will remain unchanged. ETA - Mid to late July depending on 1st party certification times. Source (Reddit) Thank fucking Christ. It sounds like a temporary fix and I really hope they do something about the 360° field of view and almost instant lock-on further down the line (maybe increase the damage again if changes happen in that area). I'm also quite happy that I managed to get a 20 kill streak with Torbjörn before the patch (don't hate me, I usually don't play "build turret and hide"; what most people don't realise is that Torjbörn's weapon is actually incredible). Edit: Cool match I just had: 5 Hanzos + Zarya in the enemy team. For the first 2 1/2 minutes we couldn't even get close to the first objective. Then one team mate and I switched to Tracer, another one stuck to Reinhardt, one guy chose Hanzo and a Mercy+Pharah combo showed up. Reinhardt and Hanzo kept taking out single enemies, Tracer and I disrupted the shit out the defending team and Mercy and Pharah unleashed hell once in a while. We captured the first objective with only 10 seconds to spare. The final payload-push was tough because it was quite easy for the 5 Hanzos to focus fire. But Reinhardt and me switched to Winston, put up barriers, the remaining teammates provided a Team Kill and it was a victory Thank God it wasn't a 5 Torbjörn team... Posted June 28, 2016 Well competitive mode is right around the corner, it's meant to be released by the end of the month (although they're cutting it a bit fine, and not clear if that included consoles, but it is out on Public Test Realms). Competitive mode is more than just ranked play with seasons, there's another factor where you're expected to treat playing both sides of a game (attack and defense on escort/assault maps) as two parts of the same game (whereas in quick play people often quit after one), and if the teams draw over these two rounds there's an extra sudden-death mode. Control (King of the Hill or what drahkon called capture and hold) is also best of five rather than three. Also I definitely think they will bring other modes and maps down the line, they must've covered development costs now with sales and loot boxes, Overwatch is doing very well. Blizzard has a history of strong post-release content updates. I imagine they will add a lot more skins and make some of them super rare to tap into that hoarder market even further. It's way too easy to defend...if you're on the attacking side and the enemy team is slightly competent (or has Bastions and Torbjörns...) it's too difficult to push through.
