liger05 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 The Wii U gets a third party game in Japan http://www.siliconera.com/2014/02/12...s3-wii-u-game/ While Kamen Rider: Battride War was a PlayStation 3 exclusive, Bandai Namco will release Kamen Rider: Battride War 2 on PlayStation 3 and Wii U. This action game has a hodgepodge of Riders from fifteen Heisei era series. The previous game focused on the TV show Riders, Kamen Rider: Battride War 2 is about the Riders in the movie versions.

Affected services: Wii U - Online Play, Rankings etc. Nintendo 3DS - Online Play, Rankings etc. *Some of the affected services' features are not available during temporary maintenance. We thank you for your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/netinfo/en_GB/index.html Interesting... So why would that be needing maintenance?
canand Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Interesting... So why would that be needing maintenance? Don't now and we Allredey had one on Monday
dazzybee Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 They're going to patch Nintendoland, Mario 3D world and Pikmin 3 for online play....!?!?!?!?!?!
Rummy Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I hope that this game will allow for the gamepad to be turned off if you use another controller, or else whenever you'd play multiplayer or be a tournament you would have to ensure that the gamepad is plugged in. What's this in reference to, SSB4? Wasn't sure if you ended up posting in le wrong thread.
dazzybee Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Out of curiosity, is anyone up for doing a bit of research, or already know? @Ike? @serbii? How many games did Nintendo DEVELOP from 2006-2010; and how many have the developed 2010-2014. It feels like they are well behind, but just wondered if it was actually the case. Out of the big games they showed yesterday for example, one was made by 2nd party Retro, one by 2nd party monolith, one by 3rd party Platinum and only one by 1st party Nintendo! Last year wasn't much better, same with launch. What are they working on!!
Ike Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Probably not a full list. Feel free to add/correct. Just covers Wii/Wii U titles. 2006 - 4 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Wii Play Wii Sports WarioWare: Smooth Moves 2007 - 5 Link's Crossbow Training Super Mario Galaxy Wii Fit Big Brain Academy for Wii Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Nintendo/Retro) 2008 - 3 Mario Kart Wii Wii Music Animal Crossing: City Folk 2009 - 9 Metroid Prime Trilogy NPC: Mario Power Tennis NPC: Donkey Kong Jungle Beat NPC: Pikmin NPC: Pikmin 2 Wii Fit Plus Wii Sports Resort New Super Mario Bros. Wii PunchOut!! (Nintendo/Next Level Games) 2010 - 5 Super Mario All-Stars Super Mario Galaxy 2 Wii Party Metroid: Other M (Nintendo/Team Ninja) Donkey Kong Country Returns (Nintendo/Retro) 2011 - 2 The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Wii Play Motion 2012 - 3 Rhythm Heaven Fever New Super Mario Bros U Nintendo Land 2013 - 8 New Super Luigi U Pikmin 3 Dr Luigi (Nintendo/Arika) NES Remix Super Mario 3D World Wii Fit U Game & Wario (Nintendo/Intelligent Systems) Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD 2014 - ~7 Mario Kart 8 Smash Bros. NES Remix 2 Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei (Nintendo/Intelligent Systems/Atlus) Hyrule Warrior (Nintendo/Tecmo) X (Nintendo/Monolith) Legend of Zelda U? FExSMT is bit of a funny one as I believe most of the dev work is being done by Atlus but Intelligent Systems are first party. Edited February 14, 2014 by Ike
Retro_Link Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Can you have X (Nintendo/Monolith) and not Metroid Prime 1/2/3 (Nintendo/Retro) for example?
Ronnie Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Throw in Mario 3D World and Wii Fit U for 2013. That list paints a pretty clear picture, the number of 1st party games Nintendo are releasing per year have been pretty consistent since the Wii launched. Not often you get big titles like Mario Kart and Smash Brothers (and who knows what else) in the same year.
Retro_Link Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Because I missed it out. :phaha, no that's fine I just never know how the studio's thing works!... Prime 3 was 2007, then there's Excitetruck, Excitebots, Another Code R, PunchOut, Endless Ocean 1 & 2 etc... I don't know what counts and what doesn't :p Edited February 14, 2014 by Retro_Link

Endless Ocean was Akira. ExciteTruck/Bots were done by Monster Games, right? Were Nintendo involved? I don't know. I'll add PunchOut.
tapedeck Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Was hyped to see a new punch out unveiled last night...and gutted it was just Little Mac in Smash Bros. They are holding onto their titles for E3. Especially the Next Level/Monster made games. They will need something to show against the backdrop of PS4/One titles. An Indie reel would have been nice...
Ren of Heavens Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 First-party developed retail home console games released in Europe. 2006 - 3 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Wii Play Wii Sports 2007 - 6 WarioWare: Smooth Moves Link's Crossbow Training Super Mario Galaxy Big Brain Academy for Wii Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Super Paper Mario 2008 - 6 Wii Fit Mario Kart Wii Wii Music Animal Crossing: City Folk Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Disaster: Day of Crisis 2009 - 3 Wii Fit Plus Wii Sports Resort New Super Mario Bros. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Mario Kart 8 X? (probably 2015) Average of 4.25 games per year.
Ronnie Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Seems 2013 was a great year! And that's without even mentioning 3DS.
Hero-of-Time Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Seems 2013 was a great year! And that's without even mentioning 3DS. Problem was that they were all released in the last half of the year. If you didn't like Monster Hunter then you were left twiddling your thumbs for 6 months.

I know these are considered 1st party but I'd be thinking of games developed internally.

Very true, 2014 looks better with a couple of big games in the first half and probably a few more in the second half.
Pestneb Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Interesting pattern there, if correct. 1st "year" = 3 or so games 2nd year 6/7 games 3rd year = 6 games remaining full years about 3 games. extrapolating from the list, I'd expect one or two more "solid" games, maybe 2/3 ok games (so 6 altogether) and maybe another HD remake this year.
Hero-of-Time Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Very true, 2014 looks better with a couple of big games in the first half and probably a few more in the second half. Yeah, last year could have been much better if the games were spread out more. I was happy enough ploughing 500+ hours into Monster Hunter though. I know these are considered 1st party but I'd be thinking of games developed internally. That's reaching a bit. I mean it's like saying Naughty Dog wouldn't count for Sony because they aren't based within SCEJ.
dazzybee Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Hmmm, it's not like there's loads less then is there to be honest I guess 3rd parties ARE that important. I guess Nitendo really are screwed Unless they buy more studios etc!
Retro_Link Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 It depends how you view 2013 too and what you're after... New Super Luigi U - felt just like more 2D Mario after NSMB2 and NSMBU Pikmin 3 Super Mario 3D World Wii Fit U - Very few bought it and just continue to use Wii Fit Game & Wario - Was pants and no one bought it Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - Possibly just stuck with the original Wii Party U - Very few bought it Although I'd probably buy Wii Party U and maybe Wii Fit.
Wii Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 That's reaching a bit. I mean it's like saying Naughty Dog wouldn't count for Sony because they aren't based within SCEJ. I don't think it's stretching it. What Retro do over in Texas should have no affect on EAD's production over in Tokyo or Kyoto or any other studio for that matter.
Retro_Link Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Thought this was a enjoyable roundup of the Nintendo Direct from IGN
