League and Cup winners they were able to fend off challenges from Odwinica and Silverdale. Their team has star quality and depth in every single position while still being small enough to avoid a huge training bill. Paulsen and Isfjord both at 17 show the clubs eye on the future, they could suffer if Capwell was injured but they are the team who are easily the strongest in the league, will be seeking to retain the league and cup this season can anyone stop them? Battlestar Odwinica Pushed the title race to the final game of the season but it was another trophyless seasn for the team that has so much to live up to. Their manager have declared this season to be their best chance to win the league before they start bringing in youth to replenish the teams set up. They have a very strong defensive and midfield core with the trademark Oddy freekick scoring beast in Andreu Delgadillo. Up front Tygesen is far ahead of his two younger strikers but they can still help him with goal scoring duties. Odwinica only just lost out last time around and it will be very close this time with Eights unlikely to lose points to many teams Odwinica need to be their equal in chalking up win after win, will want to break up Eights party and take the title, it will be a titanic title race. Silverdale Hotpot Winners in season 22 and cup finalists this season they were 5 points off the pace last season. However the gulf may be wider than some of their fans care to say, an awful 6-0 cup mauling by Eights United in the final was a huge moral blow for Silverdale. The team is one in transition with players like Hudson signing off after this season and 16 year olds such as Morell being brought in the transfer window. Silverdale have a great goalie in Lacey and a defence that is strong but not the best in the league. Their midfield core however led by Jerome is very impressive and their strikeforce led for one more season by Hudson will be hard to stop. They will need to keep their defence fit and be well prepared for other teams as that area is not quite as strong as Odwinica or Eights. However Silverdale will be aiming to keep in the top 3 mix and will be more than ready to pounce on any mistakes made by the above clubs. Looking at space above Intergalatico Stars Inter had a downturn in fortunes last season, after springing up as the best side of the modern era with two straight title wins they found themselves off the pace in the last campaign. However off the pace does not mean they didn't have a season were most teams feared them. They finished the season strongly and will be looking for at least a top 3 finish this time around. The squad for Season 26 is maybe the most interesting Inter team fielded, a huge array of young faces and older skilled players, Inter also broke their usual policy of bringing in older players with Arnie their 12 skill midfielder. Their defence looks very strong but the midfield and forward line up seem to be for Inter to know and everyone else to guess. Tactical rotation and different formations will be crucial but along with Oddy Inter have one of the best tactical managers in the league. If this new team can work together well Inter could be the dark horse for the title. Madpool Long suffering Madpool fans talk about their club like it is a family member, for them Madpool has always been about the beautiful game and dynamic football. Sadly as of yet it hasn't been about a league title, still ignore the naysayers Season 26 which looks like a harder season for Madpool could be their time to surprise everyone. Mapool still play to their strenghs which have always been a very strong midfield which overwhelms teams and creates chance after chance for the forwards. Gay and Monk still head the Madpool defence but a big youth push is underway with two 17 year olds in the Madpool teamsheet. The Madpool defence looks very slim and is a concern to many fans, with only 4 defenders one of who is a youth player this might be a defence that might need reinforcing. Madpool seem to have realised their top players need replacing in the coming seasons but with club legend Hiles on board for one more season a top 3 finish is the aim, the title is the dream. Real Peeps Last season was huge for Real Peeps, they solidified their presence in the top league and by the end looked more than comfortable and under no relegation threat. Their team sheet for this season makes very interesting reading, 16 players with 6 midfielders and 6 defenders, the shortage is in the forwards with only two recognised forwards both under 25. Peeps can rely on players like Pilgrim and Phelan to provide a real threat from the midfield but the two forwards will be under pressure to keep injury free and in very high form to make an impact on this league. However Peeps knows how to work with this team and they are often set up in a way that makes them hard to beat, let us not forget they drew with Odwinica 2-2 in the last match of the season. Peeps first goal will be survival but I think a top 5 finish is achievable and would be a huge step up for this club. The 64s Another side who had a great season last time around are the 64s, the last original club in the entire xpert league they have had a tendency to bounce up and down the league system making their fans well loved at a multitude of stadiums across the country. However against the odds they stuck it out last season in the top league and are now back again hoping to solidify their deserved position as a top tier team. They do not have a team that are filled with youth prospects or huge names, this is reflected in their team worth of only 17mil econs. However they have a very strong pair of defenders and a super goalie. Diz in midfield and Panadopolos in attack are real threats to any team, they are a team that have very few draws and tend to win or lose by big margins. With such a strong crop of new teams arriving the 64s manager will have a very tough seasons, managing the short term goal of getting enough wins to survive with the long term goal of adding some youths to an ageing squad will be a tough one, but this is the team with the most experience in the entire league and you know whatever happens they will always bounce back. Flying into tommorow Yellow Submarine In a very short time Yellow Submarine have burst onto the top league scene and stormed to a great Middle League title win last season. They have a very balanced squad that promotes veterans and youths playing together to make season to season transitions something Submarine fans look forward to. For example Submarine have four defenders 21 or under who are working with three defenders who are 26 or older. Irvine in midfield and Beasley in attack are just two players who can change a game for Submarine, a lot of their games saw them winning by 4 or 6 goal margins. While things will be tougher this season this is a team who will be looking to cause a lot of shocks on the way and they are more than capable of doing that. Look to them to try and unsettle Peeps or 64s and take their place in the middle order of the top league. Atlético Aqui1a Atletico had a great season last time around and will be looking to build upon this at the highest stage. Their manager has been very keen to reinforce his squad as they prepare to play in the top division for the first ever time. Buying both a veteran goalie and striker as well as youth prospects the fans are very excited to see how this new team plays together. It is a team with a very strong arial presence who can dominate in the air. Oates is the anchor of the team at the back and his leadership will be crucial. Two out of the four strikers are new players and survival may hinge on how many goals Athletico can get from a core of players who will need to teach the newcomers the tactics of this team. They will have to scrap it out to survive but don't count them out, watch on them to make a big impact in the title race by taking a few big points from teams that underestimate them. DuDs Baggies The only promoted team to have been in the top league before, they spent two seasons in it before being relegated, however after finishing 3rd they have come straight back up. Their star player is their goalie Mulholland who has a second sense when it comes to anticipating shots and chances. However in certain areas Baggies look ill prepared, fans were shocked when 22 year old Austen was sold. The manager made a healthy profit but has an 18 and 17 year old instead, both players look very hot future prospects but with 24 year old Shearer not really being up to top league standard one wonders were the goals are going to come from. Baggies have a very strong midfield line up with Szymanek being a surefire star of the future, but their defence looks less convincing. However Baggies have the upper league experience and sides may play youths against them and be badly punished. The most likely to go down, this is a compliment to how good the standard in the top league is as Baggies are a very capable side. In the light of the Moon Winston Gardens FC After their first season in the top league Winston Gardens are looking stronger than ever and will want to get straight back to the top of the summit. The manager is looking to debut some new players in the more forgiving middle league with a couple of 17 year olds raring to go. Gardens have a very strong defence but the pair of players who will catch most peoples eyes are the dynamic midfield duo of Rosebotham and Thomas, now both in their prime these two players will seek to both create chances and put them away in a very midfield centric team. Hardly ever using 4-3-3 Winstons lack of big attacking threats in their forward line may not be such an issue. Anything less than promotion would be a failure but the manager and fans will hope they can grab the title and repeat the success that got them to the top league in the first place. Dragooooo A team that went up and then back down with Winston is Dragooooo, after the shock of relegation their manager has overhauled their squad ready for the middle league. Using highly skilled veterans like Kellner, Luis, Guevara, Wielink and lacopino Dragooooo has brought in plenty of young talent to build in the long term. With six players that have played under 10 competitive games Dragooooo fans are going to have a lot of new names to learn this season. The challenge for this team will be to blood in the youngsters as well as making sure the veterans can make their presence felt and win games. They have a lot of pace, power and goal scoring know how in their midfield and like Winston this could be where a lot of their goals come from. Like Winston they will also want to be promoted straight back up, but with so many new young players they may have to be content with a top 3 finish rather than the title, youths never win anything. AC Elites Just like Winston and Dragooooo, the Elites find themselves back in the middle league after their debut in the top league. However the Elites have one of the strongest teams in the league, this may seem odd as they finished below Dragooooo and Winston but a savvy Elites manager told his fans at the start of last season that they were guaranteed to go down and it was all about development. With one of the better balanced middle league sides this seems to have paid off, Bodin, Bull and Steele are all top league players in each of the main positions but crucially the difference is in this side they have cover if any of them were to get injured. A very strong team that is ice cool and holds its nerve when things get tough, the only weakness may be in goal but the middle league will be a good division to develop the two young keepers. Elites may well be the favourites for the Midle League title. One step away Fedex United After a great showing last season Fedex have now finished 4th in the middle league twice in a row which many people did not predict. They have a very large 20 man squad that is also without a player under 24 but we will get back to that in a minute. Their defence is full of big men who dominate in the air while their midfield is all about the free kick specialists with three of them arguing over who is going to take the kicks! A very large forward line up lacks immediate star power but provides Fedex with options, Platt is the obvious stand-out star in that pack with Berry a player who is very lucky a middle league side is still employing him. Overall a very strong side that with youth development occurring in some of the big names could make a promotion push this season. However many Fedex fans are very concerned, with an average age of 28 the team is ill prepared for the future. If the manager can address this and maintain their current standings his number of plaudits will continue to grow. Rising Phoenix A veteran team that have never quite been able to get beyond being a highly successful middle league side. Have been in the top league twice but fallen out of it both times, enjoyed a moderately successful season last time around coming 5th in the middle league. Have brought some new youths in recent seasons but still have a strong backbone of a team that have worked well together. Jerimo is an outstanding goalie while Sheen and JJ are fan favourites. Their forward line looks to have finally come together after being a weak point for this team for so long with 3 very capable strikers heading into their prime. With several big name midfielders retiring their has been a noticeable injection of youth in this section of the pitch. Watch for players like Chase and Walters to begin to score more goals and assists as they seek to improve their spot in the team season on season. A more balanced team than Fedex and one that will want to make more of an impact this season than their patchy form allowed them to last time around, will want a top 4 finish. Coloccini FC A team to watch this season, after debuting in Season 22 they won the Lower League in season 24 and held onto their new middle league status last season. Quite a large team (19 players) that obviously has an eye on the future with a very youthful lineup. It is on the whole a very quick team that like to break away from their opponents and punish them on the counter. Bjourlund and Rowley keep things tight at the back with Tabbart and Stockley controlling midfield. Defence and then countering is the best hope for this team as they have a strong back line up. Their forward line would frankly be weak in the lower league with the oldest player being 21. However the manager will clearly be wanting the four strikers to grow together and begin to read each others movements as second nature. With such a youth centered platform promotion will not be a goal, rather another stay in the Middle League with some dynamic fan pleasing football that develops the team will be the sign of a good season. Seahawks FC The Middle League is like a river it is never the same it sees both youthful new sides, veteran sides who have lost their former strength and everything inbetween, nothing stays the same except for this side. Starting their 9th consecutive season in the middle league is Seahawks FC, however it nearly came to an end last season as they spent long amounts of time in the relegation zone. They will be hoping to put a stop to any talk of a slump this season. However the manager has limited resources, with a 17 man squad that has two players retiring this season the team is in need of new blood after last seasons youth prospect Madrigal failed to improve as a player. The team are still quite a strong one, Benzelius is one of the best defenders in any league for reading play and intercepting chances. Aragon and Scorpios will be key at ensuring Seahawks make it 10 seasons in the Middle League. Promotion seems an outside chance and the team may want to consider an injection of youth first. A top 5 finish seems a sensible goal. All risk no reward Hadens Rangers Rangers famously won the lower league in unbeaten fashion last season but do they have what it takes to stay in the top league? The squad has a few new additions on both the youth side as well as a couple of veterans. Club legend Astle is joined by Tracey, while forward Blanchflower is paired up with newcomer Exton. Alongside these pairings the Rangers manager has an eye on the future in Conden, Cahill, Somner and many others. It is a very tough yet quick team that has proved to be a very hard unit to break down and score against while at the same time looking dangerous going forward. Having said that Rangers last stay in the Middle League was not a happy one, the manager seems more focused now and is aiming to take a much valued spot in this league. They will certainly be fighting tooth and nail and it would be foolish to count them out, anything that isn't relegation will be a success for Rangers. The Roger Federer Crew Debut season and instant promotion? Superb stuff from the team that is many fans second favourite club. The Crew set about shaking things up in the Lower League from day one and a late surge saw them score second place in the final standings. The manger has opted for youth and veteran reinforcements this season, hoping to build long term success but also score some wins. However this still leaves the Crew as one of the weaker sides in the league, however a cup run that saw them beat both Winston and Rangers shows something is amiss with the Crew. Their players simply play their hearts off for their manager every week. Faux at the back and Taveria up front will have to have consistently brilliant games and the team will have to stay in form and without injuries to have any chance of staying up. The wild card of the league, whatever happens the Crew will have people watching and cheering. Comrade Co-op A team that have been to every league and won every league but the big one, they have either been promoted or relegated in the past 5 seasons. Were on course to win another title last season but their title challenge petered out at the last. They have a very large squad but this is mostly due to having a huge amount of defenders, (8!) most of who are youth. They have a decent range of strikers with club legend Chmutov at 35 still the number one pick although he is finally being challenged for that place. Patrin is the teams best player in midfield, but this is an area where the team looks rather stretched. With so many players form training will be very costly but at least injury cover will be sufficient. While they got some very impressive results last season they seem to be a rather weaker side when compared to the above teams. Their fans will hope for a rare season of stability, it may be a hope to far. Uprising Recall United A veteran team who have been around for multiple seasons seeing a high point in reaching the top league not so long ago. After recent decline the manager sought to reinvigorate his team with a youth driven intake. In come players like Silverio and Simeoni giving Recall a much better balance, gone is the weak midfield that plagued the team for years. Marston and Montana with their ice cool striking ability back up Vasilaki who is often seen controlling midfield in games. Celbridge is a rock at the back and a constant threat for headed corners. This Recall is one still growing but beginning to show the fruit of their managers labours. Will be well worth backing for a place in the top 3. Bayer Neverlusen Arch rivals to Recall they will look to halt their advance, they were also relegated last season but are a club with less history but a more experienced manager. The manager likes to play a possession based game shown by his insistence on cultivating intelligent ball carries such as Chalmers. Watts and Weyms provide a quick outlet for the side to strike against sluggish teams. They have hidden strengths in midfield but like many teams this season their strikeforce is young and underpowered. However in this league with the managers experience they should find themselves in the top 3 and hopefully higher. Leeds M.O.T A club whose future looked on the brink recently as their manager faced serious questions after failing to secure a place in the Middle League after taking his club twice to the Top League. Luckily after a fan protest the manager returned and began to lay the groundwork to a Leeds renaissance with a good season last time around. Players such as Woodlands and Mancebo remain from the glory days and can still turn on the style when needed. But new talent like the multi talented future star striker Burchell who is already being hounded by the press shows Leeds are still a club that can keep hold of top talent. With a strong arial threat Leeds like to create a lot of chances and keep bombarding in long balls. The danger for them is if their star players get heavily marked in games, the youth will then have to show their worth for this club to regain its status. Will want a promotion spot. Bob bob have made great progress, when their manager first joined the league he didn't know what he was doing (his own admission not the fans!). When you go and see a bob game you are guaranteed entertainment, a game with less than 4 goals is a rarity and mad formations unused for centuries are brought back to the horror of opposing managers. Bobs midfield is brimming with future talent waiting to break out, Leppe with his quick pace and time on his side looks like a particularly good prospect for the future. The Bob trio of youth players were reportedly kidnapped from a club in the Cameroon, bob has been reported to the Hague but he said he wants to win the Top League first. Fierce_LiNk Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Lol at the fact that Ell apparently has a stronger team, yet finished bottom, below Dragooooo and Winstons Shed. Smells like shite management to me.
Jimbob Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Bring it on, and nice to be able to re-ignite the rivally between myself and Bayern.
Ellmeister Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Lol at the fact that Ell apparently has a stronger team, yet finished bottom, below Dragooooo and Winstons Shed. Smells like shite management to me. Well if you want to call yourself a shite manager that's up to you but bit harsh to say that about Dan! Playing youth in the top league has paid dividends! Suck it Dragpoo
MadDog Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Bad times when I'm not considered title challengers. That's just the massively high standards that Madpool have. The league legend that is Neal Hiles deserves, and will, go out on a high. COME ON MADPOOL
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Well if you want to call yourself a shite manager that's up to you but bit harsh to say that about Dan! Playing youth in the top league has paid dividends! Suck it Dragpoo You got promoted and waaaaasted it with your negative football. Don't even think you scored 10 goals. You're screwed when that Percival Goldfish retires.
dan-likes-trees Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 [size="6"Winston Gardens FC After their first season in the top league Winston Gardens are looking stronger than ever and will want to get straight back to the top of the summit. GET YER FUCKING FACTS STRAIGHT Winston have been in the top league for two seasons. Aside from that, phwoar, what a post. Let the season commence.
The Peeps Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Awesome post Haden ( Moon OST), a brilliant read! Alliance-wise I am looking to change things up and actually do it properly so if any Middle League and Lower League teams want to team up, let's do it! I'm looking at a mid-table finish at best though so you'll have to get all the points for us :p Bring on the games!
bob Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I think that i should warn everyone in the lower league this season... ...that i almost sort of know what i'm doing now.
DuD Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Hope you do better against the other nobodies Tales Can't afford to drop 2 points against all of them
bob Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Ha! What's the record for biggest win margin? Could we maybe put the list of teams and their respective forum managers in the first post like last season? I can't possibly be expected to remember them all.
Jimbob Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I think that i should warn everyone in the lower league this season... ...that i almost sort of know what i'm doing now. Well, i've got to grips with it (just about). Midfield will be a force to be reckoned with in a few seasons. Nice 2-0 win today, a sign of things to come.
The Peeps Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Gave it a damn good go against Madpool but the better team won.
Haden Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 Big big win today! Frankly a mental game, Exton scores a goal it is disallowed then he goes mental and gets red carded lol! All hands to the deck and we held off Ell to secure the win. Never said you were selling me such a hot head Peeps! :p
Zell Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Great start to the season. I was hoping for a draw at best, so I'm ecstatic to get all three points, especially away to a team like Silverdale. Another awesome performance by Lilywhite, he just never lets me down. You're next, Battlestar.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Not a great start, but I've already ear-marked this season as one to bed in the youngsters. It's not going to be anything near a title push. We'll be lucky not to get relegated, although I wouldn't mind that.
Zell Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Just noticed that it is 1 year to the day since I joined Xpert Eleven. So today has been a very happy anniversary for the club. One more year and Yellow Sub will be the champions.
Nikos9 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Not a great start, but I've already ear-marked this season as one to bed in the youngsters. It's not going to be anything near a title push. We'll be lucky not to get relegated, although I wouldn't mind that. I wouldn't write yourself off just yet...you do realize you're still the 4th strongest team in the Middle League!? In terms of Alliances, anyone in the Middle (@Fierce_LiNk ? @Ellmeister ? etc) or Lower (@Charlie ? @Lucas3693 ? etc) leagues up for joining me? Unfortunately @Zell, as we're in the same division now we're gonna have to break up the band! High Five to us (nWo) though for winning the alliance competition last season!!!
The Peeps Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Sorry @Haden I guess he was just mad at not being in Real Peeps anymore How about we forge an alliance to appease him?
Tales Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Anyone want an alliance with the defending champion of Elite League? Only title challengers should apply.
Haden Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) After each game if possible I will focus on a particular league in reports starting with! Top League Focus Stay a while and listen. Tuesday saw the opening games of the season and there were some shock results that could affect the league even at this early stage. Important Result: Silverdale Hotpot 2-3 Yellow Submarine A great result for Yellow Submarine who shock former champions Silverdale Hotpot at their own ground. Silverdale lined up hoping to dominate midfield with a 4-5-1 formation, while YS went for a 5-4-1 defensive set up. Delipiano caused havoc in the first half as YS looked much more creative, Delipiano lost his marker and and found Beasley with a pinpoint cross, he drilled in the ball giving the goalie no chance. Sympotmatic of the way the game was going Silverdale subsituted off Morell who had a torrid time in defence for the more experienced Goddard, YS actually brought on a youth defender in a rather risky move! The game began to open up more for Silverdale and he threw on proven goalscorer Calderwood, things began to turn in their favour when first Orellana scored with a curling free kick and then Calderwood lost his marker and headed a looping cross in with 9 minutes to go. The manager punched the air and was ready to face the press with a first win of the season. However Delipiano popped up to take a corner kick and punted it straight in the box, it eventually found its way to Ataisik who just had to toe poke it in. Then in the dying seconds veteran midfielder Lilywhite found himself with the ball in the box, he tusseled and turned and eventually toe poked the ball through the legs of a defender into the bottom corner. The away segment of the crowd roared, Silverdale had nothing left. This is a huge win for YS, they are facing Odwinica next so to get 3 points in this game was a huge plus. Silverdale will be very annoyed about this start to the season and will want to bounce straight back with an away win of their own against the 64s. A entertaining game with consequences in the title and relegation fight. What they are saying: Matched each other on tactics, came down to who had the strongest team I think. Good game Real Peeps Real Peeps on his sides 3-2 loss to Madpool A solid loss but not as bruising as I was actually expecting. The 64s Not as bruising...try telling Ribeiro, Rocky & Maximus that! :P (I realise you mean the result but still) Good luck for the rest of the season! Inter Intergalactico Stars responds to the 64s comments in their 3-0 win over them that saw 3 players taking off injured. Well done, good game. Silverdale Hotpot Did not expect this result! Good game indeed. Yellow Submarine Pleasantries exchanged after YS startling 3-2 victory over Silverdale. "That is our team for the future. We firmly believe that we'll be playing 4-3-3 in years to come, an adventurous formation." Dragooooo sets out his tactical vision in recent PR. Player of the Day: Isak Millberg, quite an interesting one this week. Odwin has said this is the last chance for his team to win before he makes big changes, however it was a youth who earned his team 3 points this round. Looking to be held to a 0-0 opening draw to Atletico Millberg came on after half time. With mere minutes to go before the final whistle he crossed in a beautiful pass for Coles to head home and then sealed the win with a powerful pinpoint shot moments before the final whistle. He transformed the fortunes for his team who scored a victory where Silverdale and Eights failed. Tactical Award: DuDs Baggies, scoring a 1-1 draw against the current champions Eights United was a big big result for Baggies in their fight to stay in this league. With a line up of 5-3-2 for the Baggies against Eights 4-5-1, you were scared that Baggies may get overwhelmed in midfield. However while Eights dominated possesion and scored an early goal the Baggies did not panic. They linked their defence and midfield with long passes and soaked up Eights pressure limiting their chances. Eventually Shearer got a chance to strike after a corner and keeping within one goal and limiting chances paid dividends. A very important point, Eights will have to deal with teams trying constrict his play. Final Buisness: Real Peeps 2-3 Madpool: An entertaining game which looked out of Madpools reach at one point with at least a point looking to go Peeps way, however Gay got Madpool out of trouble and got a very important win for the side. Intergactico Stars 3-0 The 64s A very open game with both teams playing 3 strikers, however the result was never really in doubt even if the 64s would have scored all their chances they still wouldn't have drawn. Still it wasn't all good for Inter coming out of the game with two injuries. Sorry Peeps but the Shield is full unless Madpool wants out: Madpool, me and our new member and future Lower League Winner. RECALL UNITED! Edited February 13, 2013 by Haden
