The Peeps Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Not being sarcastic, 22 out of 30 is great and as you say we have 2 inactive teams, another isn't paying attention, a further two locked out... only three active teams that can play who aren't.
Zell Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 How about start with a round of 32 where 10 teams get byes? It's not ideal, but to me it's seems better than having to knock teams out that won matches.
Haden Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 How about start with a round of 32 where 10 teams get byes? It's not ideal, but to me it's seems better than having to knock teams out that won matches. Hmm I think this may be the best solution to be honest! Add some drama to the evening who gets the free places for round one :P
Charlie Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 How about start with a round of 32 where 10 teams get byes? It's not ideal, but to me it's seems better than having to knock teams out that won matches. Yeah I think go for this. At only 18 teams it wasn't a good option but with 22 that's better.
Ellmeister Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Congrats on the win Haden. I said early on you'd get it. Madpool has shown strong character for a couple of seasons, you'll surely be there next season mate. As for me, played a weak side against 64 and somehow got a win. Pure luck. Second and third place still up for grabs which means ill play a decent squad in the last game I reckon.
dan-likes-trees Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 How about start with a round of 32 where 10 teams get byes? It's not ideal, but to me it's seems better than having to knock teams out that won matches. Yeah this is the best shout I think. Realistically, the way xpert works its probably likely that the only way lower leaguers are going to get a sniff of results against the big boys would be by playing somewhat defensively, so most of the proposed rules (draws decided by chances created etc) would potentially be a bit harsh. I think replays in the event of a draw would be probably be the best option.. with a switch the home / away side for the reply.. though obviously more time consuming.. Can we do this all these precise rules as an actual cup? Or would it have to be a series of friendlies organised out of the game?
The Peeps Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 A week behind... I'll try to catch up and do the rest later tonight :p N-Euro Middle League Round 14 **Dysonian Wanderers 1-3 Recall United*** Wanderers take an early lead after being awarded a penalty which was easily scored by Lucian Sandford. This early setback spurred Recall into action and they had Wanderers on the ropes for the rest of the half, finally equalising in the 42nd minute after Rhian Deacon scores from a header. The second half was more of the same, Recall continued to suppress Wanderers and kept the attacks coming in. In the 70th minute it was Recall's turn to take a penalty and it was scored by Patric Wallgren. Not yet satisfied, Wallgren went on to score again five minutes later with another shot from inside the penalty area. ***Cubic County 1-4 Real Peeps**** Probably the easiest opponent either team will have faced this season as these two under-performers face each other once again. County are by far the unluckier side though and Real Peeps go into the second half 2-0 up after goals from Derrick Birch and Tommy Frampton. In the second half, the rest of Real Peeps were lining up to get their shots in but County still managed a few of their own. In the 72nd minute, Catarino Lino scores a header from a cross and soon after Tommy Frampton gets his second goal of the game to make it 4-0. In the 91st minute, County finally broke the keeper and Neal Harley scores from a shot in the penalty area to save face for the team and avoid a whitewash. ***Happenstance FC 3-0 Emo Blades** Emo Blades on surprisingly poor form in this game though they would have to be playing beyond their best to beat Happenstance this season. In the 7th minute of the game, T?ofilo Polo misses a penalty but 4 minutes later Miodrag Panic makes the crowd forget all about it when he scores from right inside the penalty area. Happenstance continue to create chance after chance and eventually Dean Gregor gets their second goal in the 27th minute of the game. In the second half, Dean Gregor scored again in the 61st minute. Emo Blades managed a bit more activity in the later minutes of the game but their shots were flying straight into the keeper's arms. ****Mcoys Sons 4-0 Seahawks FC**** Mcoys completely dominate Seahawks at home today, totally stopping Seahawks from making any attempts on goal. Adrien Tant gets the first goal in the 18th minute, closely followed by another from Hamilton Charles in the 23rd. Jez Heckinbottom secures two more goals for Mcoy in the 31st and 67th minutes and Seahawks can do nothing but look on in wonder. ***Leeds.M.O.T 1-1 Intergalactico Stars**** Steve Austin falls foul of a nasty tackle in the 2nd minute of the game and has to be stretchered off the pitch, leaving Intergalactico's midfield slightly unbalanced as 21 year old Nikos Scabos takes his place. Leeds score the first goal in the 22nd minute with an impressive run from Ionut Codrin. Two minutes later Codrin is suspiciously on the ground, rolling around in pain. Two Intergalactico players were nearby, looking at the sky and whistling. Tensions were high as the match continued with both teams getting good attempts on goal but Intergalactico were the next ones to score in the 74th minute with a goal from Ben Kenobi. Most Important Result: Cubic County 1-4 Real Peeps, County can't get any further down the table but Real Peeps shoot up two places to 6th and rid themselves of the threat of relegation for at least another round. Stylish Play: Mcoys Sons, honourable mention to Happenstance FC who had 12 chances against their opponent but Mcoys Sons scored more goals from less chances and completely shut out Seahawks. Best Player: Patric Wallgren, Recall United, Wallgren kept a cool head under pressure as he took a penalty in the 70th minute and scored which put his team into the lead. Five minutes later he assured Recall's victory by scoring again after shooting from inside the penalty area. N-Euro Middle League Round 15 ****Seahawks FC 1-2 Leeds.M.O.T***** If Seahawks were expecting an easy game at home after their devestating loss last round away to Mcoys Sons, they would have been very shocked. Leeds took an early lead when Marvin Townshend scores by a header from a cross in the 7th minute. Seahawks were quick to regroup and retalliated with a goal of their own in the 19th minute, scored by Josu? Mendez. The second half started and Leeds were in complete control although the scoreline doesn't really reflect it. Leeds managed 10 chances total and scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute thanks to a shot in the penalty area from Viquardinho Berger. *Cubic County 1-1 Dysonian Wanderers*** A fairly uneventful first half went by with only one attempt on goal coming from Dysonian Wanderers. In the 30th minute Dominic Kenna had to be replaced due to injury and Dudley Dunwell came on for Wanderers. In the second half of the game, Dysonian Wanderers managed to pull ahead after Patrick Twigg scored in the 55th minute. County were under fire from a barrage of shots but somehow turned it around and scored in the 73rd minute with a breakaway goal from ?mile Maupas. ****Recall United 2-0 Intergalactico Stars**** Recall had more possession in the first half of the game but only managed two chances, one of which became a goal when Brett Whiteside scored in the 45th minute. Intergalactico started the second half on the backfoot and never quite managed to tip the balance back in their favour as Recall became more and more offensive. In the 62nd minute, Brett Whiteside scored again, this time from a freekick. ***Emo Blades 0-1 Real Peeps**** Emo Blades are clearly still hurting from their loss last round to Happenstance and Real Peeps take advantage to get an important win in the closing games of the season. It's a tight race between Peeps, Seahawks and Blades and this result doesn't bode well for Emo Blades. No goals in the first half of the game but an injury on each side as Godfrey Lovatt of Emo Blades and Cal Dewell of Real Peeps are forced off the pitch. Real Peeps managed 8 chances in this game but were clearly lacking in the offensive department as they were only able to get one goal, scored by Ernst Heinzmann in the 67th minute. Luckily it was all they needed as Emo Blades were unable to score from their only attempt on goal. ***Happenstance FC 1-1 Mcoys Sons**** Challengers, Happenstance FC take on Mcoys Sons today and give them a good run for their money. Again, no goals in the first half of this game but Happenstance were the more offensive side. This continued into the second half where Happenstance had 3 more attempts on goal but Mcoy only needed one. In the 71st minute, Wyatt Rufus scores from a freekick to put Mcoys Sons 1-0 up but their lead is short-lived as Godfrey Pascoe settles the score with a goal in the 80th minute. The game ends in a draw but it's a pretty lucky result for Mcoys Sons who perhaps wouldn't have scored at all if not for that freekick. Most Important Result: Recall United 2-0 Intergalactico Stars, Recall move into 4th as Intergalactico fall to 5th, allowing Leeds to steal 3rd place. It had looked good for Intergalactico but Leeds and Recall have been late risers and now it's looking more likely that one of them will be taking third as Happenstance and Mcoy watch with interest from above. Stylish Play: Leeds.M.O.T, Leeds were on top form today, their manager earning a 5 star rating for the game. The scoreline does them little justice as they create 10 chances away from home in their match against Seahawks this round. Best Player: Brett Whiteside, Recall United, Whiteside led by example today as Recall's captain scored both goals to see them beat Intergalactico for the first time. @uəʌəsʎɐɾ @Dyson @Jimbob @Nikos9 @Brian Mcoy @Cube @Happenstance ----------- mega long post now lol N-Euro Middle League Round Sixteen ****Intergalactico Stars 3-3 Dysonian Wanderers*** Intergalactico have had a tough couple of games and this round they came very close to losing at home to Dysonian Wanderers - something no team has done so far. While Intergalactico's players were posing for fan pictures and sipping espressos, Dysonian Wanderers were sneaking into the lead. An early goal was scored by Patrick Twigg for Wanderers in the 5th minute and Wanderers drew back to keep their lead. The second half began with no further goals having been scored and the next goal didn't come until the 67th minute when Morgan Boland scores Wanderer's second goal. Three minutes later, Patrick Twigg gets another goal and Intergalactico snap out of their complacent attitude. Mark Undertaker breaks through in the 73rd minute and Intergalactico begin their comeback. In the 86th minute, Nikolai Volkoff scores from a header after a corner and two minutes after that, Zinedine Zidane equalises with a shot from inside the penalty area. Intergalactico narrowly avoid embarrassment at the hands of an absent manager. ***Leeds.M.O.T 1-2 Happenstance FC*** A close game but another win for Happenstance FC who as of this game are undefeated in 11 matches. Godfrey Pascoe gets a goal in the 5th minute for Happenstance FC but Leeds don't let the first half end without equalising as Ionut Codrin gets a goal in the 40th minute. Happenstance were the more offensive team in the first half but Leeds were the ones with more chances in the second. Despite this fact, Happenstance were the ones to score next with a goal from Rowley Dibbler in the 75th minute. Leeds were still making attempts on goal but Happenstance keeper, Ambrogio Zanon kept them all out. ***Seahawks FC 1-2 Recall United**** More bad luck for Seahawks who lose their 4th home game in a row today at the behest of Recall United. Recall take the lead in the first half of the game when Jonathan Solano scored in the 37th minute but two of their players suffer injuries and have to be replaced. In the 79th minute Recall are able to score another goal thanks to a shot in the penalty area from Brett Whiteside which couldn't have come at a better time as just three minutes later, Arnoldo Tito scores what would have been an equaliser for Seahawks. ****Mcoys Sons 2-0 Real Peeps*** The last time Mcoys Sons face Real Peeps at home they won 4-0. Luckily for Real Peeps today's score was a bit more respectable and although they lost, they haven't dropped any places in the table. No goals in the first half of the game or even the first 70 minutes but two injuries for Real Peeps as they have to replace a defender and midfielder. Mcoys Sons had been patronising Real Peeps all game with shots aimed straight at the keeper but in the 78th minute Niles Alvarado strides into the penalty area and scores the first goal for Mcoys Sons. He then set up a second goal in the 93rd minute to be scored by Hamilton Charles. ***Emo Blades 5-0 Cubic County*** The worst result of the season for Cubic County and at the hands of their close rivals last season, adding insult to injury. Emo Blades have been in a rut of their own for the last few rounds but all of their missed opportunities were accounted for in this game. Christopher Sheene starts off the goal scoring in the 11th minute with a header from a cross. Jonny Forsyth is the jam in Sheene's sandwich as he gets a goal in before Sheene scored again in the 36th minute. Stewart Rothwell gets the first goal of the second half with a shot in the penalty area in the 53rd minute and Margott Bruce puts the final nail in the coffin after scoring from a penalty in the 67th minute. Most Important Result: Seahawks 1-2 Recall United, with Leeds losing to Happenstance, they fall to 4th place and Recall grab hold of the third promotion spot. Meanwhile Seahawks move into 8th and Emo Blades are poised to take over Real Peeps as they sit just one point below them. Stylish Play: Emo Blades, 5 uninterrupted goals against their close rivals from last season, Emo Blades really turned the tables on Cubic County in this game and showed them that the similarity between the teams is a forgotten memory. Best Player: Danny Spiggs, Happenstance FC, only 18 years old and the agents tip him at a skill of 4 but Danny Spiggs set up both goals for Happenstance FC today showing a keen eye and a tactical edge that betrays his age. N-Euro Middle League Round Seventeen ***Recall United 0-2 Happenstance FC**** Recall lose their first game in 5 today at the hand of Happenstance FC who now haven't lost in 12. Happenstance take the lead in the first half of the game with a long range shot reaching the goal from Godfrey Pascoe's golden boot in the 22nd minute. Happenstance's second goal came in the 60th minute from a freekick scored by Josh Harford. ****Real Peeps 2-3 Leeds.M.O.T**** Things are ridiculously close between Peeps, Blades and Seahawks and this home loss is not good for Real Peeps who are sitting precariously in 6th place above the other two teams. Real Peeps start off hot, accidentally causing damage to Nicoals Bernard of Leeds in the 2nd minute. They get two attempts on goal in the first half but Leeds get one and score. Viquardinho Berger scored the first goal in the 37th minute, a name that Peeps fans will be cursing from this day forward... In the 46th minute Ernst Heinzmann of Real Peeps is injured forcing Defender Dantae Servidei to play Midfield. It looked like this would be a blessing in disguise as Servidei scored for Real Peeps in the 49th minute but disaster struck again when Derrick Birch was sent off the pitch leaving Real Peeps with a 3 man defence instead of 4. Things were still going ok for Real Peeps who pressed their offence and got another goal as Monty Collett scores in the 73rd minute but three minutes later, Viquardinho Berger scores his second goal for Leeds to even out the score. A tense 10 minutes passed until Viquardinho Berger takes a shot from inside the penalty area and scores a hattrick for Leeds and wins them the game. ****Intergalactico Stars 4-0 Cubic County*** Intergalactico enjoy their first win in 4 games today as they play host to Cubic County. County were still reeling from their 5-0 loss to Emo Blades and pretty much sat back and took the defeat, failing to create any chances of their own. Ben Kenobi scores the first goal in the 10th minute of the game and soon after, Mark Undertaker scored in the 23rd minute. Ben Kenobi scores the first goal again in the second half of the game and is once again shadowed by Mark Undertaker who scores in the 67th minute. **Dysonian Wanderers 1-3 Seahawks FC*** A much needed win for Seahawks today who are now level with Real Peeps on 20 points, only behind in goal difference. Arnoldo Tito came on strong and scored in the very first minute of the game, something I don't think we've seen all season. Jean Pierre Grisard scores his second goal of the season and the second goal of the game for Seahawks in the 23rd minute. The next 45 minutes were filled with bookings on both sides and a couple of injuries for Dysonian Wanderers but finally Seahawks break the routine and Arnoldo Tito scores again in the 76th minute. Morgan Westgate, inspired by Intergalactico's recent comeback against his team, attempted to start a comeback for Wanderers by scoring in the 81st minute but Wanderers spent the next 9 minutes celebrating and admiring the goal so failed to score another. ***Emo Blades 0-3 Mcoys Sons**** Blades return to their rut as they face the unbeatable Mcoys Sons and fail to get anywhere near their opponent's goal. The fate of Emo Blades, Real Peeps and Seahawks all rest with their final games on Tuesday as Blades sits just one point behind the other two teams. Stephen Gaye scores two goals in the first half of the game which gave Mcoy an early lead and just to be safe, Jez Heckinbottom was sure to score a final goal in the 73rd minute to dispell any hopes Emo Blades may have had of making a comeback. Most Important Result: Real Peeps 2-3 Leeds.M.O.T, with Seahawks losing to Happenstance they fall 2 places into 5th and Leeds slide into 3rd, one point above Intergalactico and Recall. 7 points further down, Real Peeps and Seahawks are currently safe in 6th and 7th with Emo Blades one point below in 8th place. Stylish Play: Intergalactico Stars, 11 chances to 0, 62-38 possession. 4 goals. Intergalactico's form gets boosted from their win over County today as their whole midfield takes part in the team's goals. Ben Kenobi and Mark Undertaker each score twice while Eddie Guerrero assists in two and Steve Austin sets up another. Forward, Ronald Ronaldo set up a fourth goal so surely Intergalactico will be boosted by their success today and dominate over Seahawks next week? Best Player: Viquardinho Berger, Leeds.M.O.T, Berger scored a hattrick today to see his team win 3-2. Not only does he secure 3rd place for Leeds but he keeps Real Peeps from getting ahead of Seahawks and Blades to create an even more tense final round! Thanks Berger... (Cubic County and Dysonian Wanderers do not appear as it only shows 8 max and they've been 10th and 9th pretty much all season) Reflecting on the season, it started out incredibly close, heating up the most between rounds 4 and 10. Happenstance and Intergalactico emerged from the fray and began battling for 2nd place which Happenstance seems to have won as Intergalactico are now down to fourth and Leeds are in third, creating a three horse race between Inter, Leeds and Recall. Another three horse race is taking place in the bottom half of the table, although it has not been as closely contested as the one for third place. Real Peeps, Seahawks and Emo Blades are all struggling to keep out of that final relegation spot. Mcoys Sons are the clear winners and deservedly so as they haven't moved from the top spot since round 4. Happenstance are safe after their win over Recall put them out of reach of Leeds.M.O.T. Which means Leeds, Intergalactico and Recall are all in contention for 3rd place. Recall lost their last game but are playing away to Real Peeps so still have a good chance of winning, whereas Leeds are up against Emo Blades with victory not so assured. Intergalactico may also have a tough time against Seahawks but the home advantage as well as they're 4-0 stomping of Cubic County may work in their favour. Basically it's anybody's guess as to who will go up. They each need both of the others to fail. Similarly, Emo Blades need to win their game and see Peeps or Seahawks lose theirs to be saved from relegation. Real Peeps are the only team of the three with a home game but it still won't be easy as they have a bad habit of not scoring any goals. Seahawks have a bad track record against Intergalactico, having only beaten them once - although their last game was a draw. Emo Blades are in the worst position and have probably the toughest opponent as they face Leeds who are in 3rd place. Again, anything could happen but the odds are stacked against Emo Blades.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Came very close to beating ReZ away from home today. I've been playing solely for DV, but we were winning up until the 93rd minute, when he was given a penalty. Annoyed, we should've won that. Delighted with the last two games. Played for DV and got two draws. Could win those games next year. One more game left. I'm worried about my oldest defender, who missed 4 games through injury at the start of the season and only has a DV of 9. Hope the last game will push him up to 10. He's getting on a bit, but is the best defender I have. He didn't go up a level last year, so I'm hoping he'll remain the same, if not go up. Finger's crossed. Congratulations to Winston Gardens for being promoted on their first season with the club.
Haden Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Can I just say a huge thanks to Peeps, your reports are always superb thank you for doing them as they are so hard to keep up. And following on from Flinky I also meant to say well done to Winston while the lower league has the odd dormant team to be promoted in your first season takes some doing! Well done.
Fierce_LiNk Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Haden, if my defender doesn't get to 10 DV in the next game, and remains at 9, will his skill level definitely go down in the change report?
The Peeps Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Flink, he's unlikely to go down a full skill point but below 10 means he'll get a - sign next to him to show he's dropped. 10 they should stay the same, above 10 and they get a + sign and probably 14 and above means +1 skill (depends on where there skill is at from the last report though I guess).
Tales Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Can we do this all these precise rules as an actual cup? Or would it have to be a series of friendlies organised out of the game? An official cup must happen during the season and will be played instead of one of the league matches, which will double the length to four months. The other alternative is to play three matches a week, two leagues and one cup, but then all 30 players must be VIP.
Brian Mcoy Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Mcoy now understands why Haden kept him back in the middle league for another season. Haden wasn't trying to screw Mcoy. Haden wanted Mcoy to be promoted the PROPER way, by being the champion. Mcoy has earnt his victory this season and looks forward to another glorious battle in the top league.
MilaGi Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Hi everyone! The Peeps invited me to join I'd quite like to enter the cup if that would be possible!
Haden Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Mcoy now understands why Haden kept him back in the middle league for another season. Haden wasn't trying to screw Mcoy. Haden wanted Mcoy to be promoted the PROPER way, by being the champion. Mcoy has earnt his victory this season and looks forward to another glorious battle in the top league. Mcoy since you are once again in the top league and there isn't anything I can do about it. You are going to compete in an I quit match against the worlds most dangerous team, Essex Elites!!!!! Hi everyone! The Peeps invited me to join I'd quite like to enter the cup if that would be possible! Welcome to the league! Have you tried to register again? Let me know if it is a problem you may have to enter after the last league game on Tuesday but you will still be ready for the first Cup game on Friday!
Brian Mcoy Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Haden, Mcoy is coming back to claim his gold! It's true. It's damn true!
Haden Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Is this everyone so far? Bayern Bru Peeps Cube Madpool Silverdale Leeds Winston Rising Phoenix Mcoy Elites Inter Co-op Seahawks Recall All Stars DuD Zell Dragooo 64'ers Bubbles Tales Happenstance MilaGi 23 is a good turnout. Thanks for the list MadDog edited with MilaGi in there as well. Regarding Jimbobs comment on cup structure, he suggested that he draws up a table for it and slots teams in. To me that sounds fine not sure what anyone else thinks. Deadline for joining is tonight who is missing now? Just Odwin, Emo and Fedex from eligible teams?
MadDog Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 With 23, we could have 9 teams with byes in the first round. 14 would play, 7 go through. 7+9=16, then it can go on as a normal knockout cup. That sound good? also, after the first round is done, is it going to be like winner of match 1 plays winner of match 2, or is that being drawn aswell?
Jimbob Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I'm thinking a table to put each team into. Makes things easier to manage as well, winner of game 1 plays game 2 winner and so on.
Haden Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 I'm thinking a table to put each team into. Makes things easier to manage as well, winner of game 1 plays game 2 winner and so on. That sounds great, btw Jimbob I forgot to ask how are you livestreaming? Is there a site? Will there be a chatroom etc? We could use the NE chatroom maybe if the site you are streaming from doesn't cater to that.
MadDog Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I did this earlier. Is that ok? We just need a way to decide who gets to play at home after the first round.
Charlie Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I'm thinking a table to put each team into. Makes things easier to manage as well, winner of game 1 plays game 2 winner and so on. Only thing is, wouldn't that mean that certain teams would always be playing at home? MD 1: Game 1) 1vs2 -----------------------MD 2: Game1) Winner G1 vs Winner G2 MD 1: Game 2) 3vs4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------MD3: Game 1) Winner MD2G1 vs Winner MD2G2 MD 1: Game 3) 5vs6 -----------------------MD 2: Game2) Winner G3 vs Winner G4 MD 1: Game 4) 7vs8 The teams at the top of each section get a huge advantage... (MD = Match Day)
Haden Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Maybe that structure could be kept but someone could with a very simple randomization tool decide who played at home every round. I am more than willing to do that. Btw what did we decide to balance it out for away teams? If the score and chances are equal away teams go through?
Jimbob Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 @Charlie. I suppose it could be randomised who gets to play at home, unless both winners played home last time. @Haden. There are chat facilities available on the site i'm using, but i recommend the N-Europe chat room. Much better and won't lag (if using the one with the stream)
MadDog Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I'm sure we can hijack the N-E chatroom for a while. :p
