Cube Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) Developed by Supermassive Games, who have made various PlayStation-exclusive games (some PSN stuff, LBP level packs, etc). It sounds like they want it to meet the expectations of the fans. So hopefully it will be a big improvement over the Wii game. Edit: Matt Smith and Alex Kingston (River) will be doing the voice acting, and it's also on PC. Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock will immerse gamers in the universe of Doctor Who, allowing them to take on the role of the Doctor and River Song as they travel across time and space to save the Earth. Gamers must learn to master the complexities of time travel with exceptional time based game play, changes made in one time will impact another creating multiple possibilities and challenging players to solve puzzles across the centuries. A wholly new storyline has been developed especially for this new Doctor Who console game franchise, written in collaboration with the BBC Wales team. Photo-real graphics, television quality scenes and highly realistic characters will bring the world of Doctor Who to life immersing fans completely in the twists and turns of an action filled plot. The stars of the series Matt Smith (the Doctor) and Alex Kingston (River Song) have recorded full voiceovers for their characters in Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock and motion capture has been used to create in-game characters that are incredibly realistic providing the ultimate Doctor Who gaming experience. Serebii Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 The time based stuff intrigues me. It's initially out on PS3/Vita/PC according to the Press Release meaning it may come to 360/WiiU later in the year. I've been disappointed by The Adventure Games and didn't dare touch the Wii/DS ones...will be cautiously optimistic with this
Retro_Link Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Was that The Doctor and River talking in that trailer, or two other people? It sounded a bit like River to me, but not really like Matt Smith. Will they design this for PS3 I wonder, or will it be a port of the Vita game?
Cube Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 I've been disappointed by The Adventure Games and didn't dare touch the Wii/DS ones...will be cautiously optimistic with this The DS one isn't that bad. It's a Layton clone with much easier puzzles. The Wii one, however...
flameboy Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I'm very much looking forward to this seem as my PC won't run the free ones they released episodically.
Sméagol Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Never tried the PC adventure games since Cube advised me not too (The Wii game didn’t need any explicit third party disencouragement, it sold itself pretty poorly). Anyway, the trailer shows absolutely nothing. If done well, I’m absolutely interested in getting it for PC, but I’d love some Karen Gillan as well..
Serebii Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 First screenshot of Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock
S.C.G Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 It looks... passable, or actually decent if you compare it to other Dr Who games that have come before it. Hopefully they'll take their time with it and the gameplay will actually prove to be decent.
Retro_Link Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 FMV of a Dreamcast game... not much else to go on right now.
Agent Gibbs Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 please tell me thats a vita screen shot! cos that cannot be a ps3/pc shot! look at the terrible textures in the foreground!
Cube Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 I'm not quite sure how the Silence will work in a game. What I really want is the Weeping Angels in a very dark area and all you have is a flickering torch.
Retro_Link Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I don't remember The Silence doing that with their hands... but still.
Hamishmash Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I don't remember The Silence doing that with their hands... but still. I don't remember the Silence at all.
S.C.G Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I don't remember the Silence at all. You don't remember who?

S.C.G Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Downloadable then most likely, I'd hope so anyway... it'd surely fare better than an overpriced retail release.
Serebii Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Yeah, they announced it'd be a game for PSN and that they're trying to get it on XBLA but are having issues due to BBC content apparently not being allowed on it
flameboy Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Yeah, they announced it'd be a game for PSN and that they're trying to get it on XBLA but are having issues due to BBC content apparently not being allowed on it I thought that was only an issue with the iplayer due to Microsoft only letting such services be part of Gold membership and the tv license means that tv content can't be part of service people pay for...I'm assuming games on XBLA can still be bought by silver members so don't see where the issue would lie. A slight aside anyone remember Dalek Attack on the Amiga? So many fond memories of this game even though it was sooooooo hard.

Well it's what the developers said when they were asked about XBLA release
flameboy Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Reviews so far, only two reviews but not the greatest; http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/doctor-who-the-eternity-clock
Cube Posted May 26, 2012 Author Posted May 26, 2012 For a Doctor Who game, that's a pretty good score. I still have nightmares from playing Return to Earth.
flameboy Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Was that the first of the freebie adventure games? I played it for about 20 minutes and gave up in the end it was that horrendous. The game I posted above Dalek Attack is the only one I remember for being good.
