Tales Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 (edited) I thought we had a thread, but appearently we didn't. I'm making it because, shoot me, I just learned that it's not a prequel as I feared, but I sequel. Listened to an interview from the director and it sounds like they have listened a lot to the "fans", making the sequel a polar opposite to the original. An open world to be explored, multiple paths and endings and more mini games were mentioned. Not sure how good idea that is, now the "fans" are going to complain about the world being to open, story make no sense and mini games too many. The story is said to, again the director, to be more darker and serious. Also auto save and monster raising is included this time. Personally I have never like the latter in any monster raising game I have played, including the sequel to the game my nickname is based on. No matter how great the game is, I doubt I touch it this time around to, unless it is required for Platinum. Also they have something that is "greater than new game plus" whatever that means. I'm all up for different views, but "fans" of the series, please don't claim it is shit. You can't know that. I saw a comment like that in the S-E thread where the game was first mentioned and it's absolutely ridiculous. Please don't make the thread into "[insert FF is best, FF13 is shit because I said so" thread, I rather have a dead thread that a "fan"'s crusade. Edited October 19, 2011 by Tales
Hero-of-Time Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I'm well looking forward to this. I loved XIII and this sounds and looks great. From what you posted it sounds like that S-E are going the FFX-2 route, which is fine by mean. That game also had multiple endings and many mini games. I am a little worried about the characters that we've seen so far, I mean where is Snow? Surely he should be protecting his wife, unless they didn't get married, which would be a kick in the nuts after everything he went through.
Tales Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Yeah, I think it sounds great too, FF10-2 was my first FF main game too. Looking forward to this one a lot. They said all characters are going to make an appearance one way or another, but I doubt anyone but Lightning are playable, which is fine by. Not that I didn't like the original characters, I prefer new faces and new backgrounds.
S.C.G Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 (edited) it sounds like they have listened a lot to the "fans", making the sequel a polar opposite to the original. If this is going to be a 'polar opposite' does this mean that the game will actually be good? :p Edited August 12, 2011 by S.C.G Automerged Doublepost
Hero-of-Time Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) Snow's back!!! Loved the song in the trailer aswell. Edited September 18, 2011 by Hero-of-Time
Jon Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I'm really looking forward to this. I loved Final Fantasy 13 and the whole universe. It was a great feeling when the whole Paradigm system clicked and you actually knew what you were doing. My only complaint was the it didn't open up until too late into the game but it was at least an attempt at them trying a new style. My only hope for the sequel is that Hope dies a very painful death. His emo whining got on my nerves big style.
Aimless Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 My only hope for the sequel is that Hope dies a very painful death. His emo whining got on my nerves big style. They seem to have repositioned him as a teenage heartthrob, which should at least mean he's less whiny.
Jon Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 They seem to have repositioned him as a teenage heartthrob, which should at least mean he's less whiny. He does have a touch of Justin Beiber about him. That's not necessarily a good thing.
Hero-of-Time Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Limited editions announced. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-9875-Final-Fantasy-XIII-2-Special-Editions-Revealed.html Crystal Edition for me.
Tales Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) Crystal edition for me too^^ Lots of pre orders bonuses too, steelbook case, more art cards, a novel bridging the gap between XIII and XIII-2 and a download code for DLC with new monsters and costumes. I doubt it comes here but I would sign up for it if so. Edited October 19, 2011 by Tales

Tales Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Saw the new trailer today, love it. I want this more than any of the releases this year.
Ike Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Demo was released today on EU XBL/PSN. Downloaded it, but only played the first battle. Anyone else played more?
Tales Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 I didn't know about the demo until today. Downloading it right now. Super excited about this game. I'm a bit worried about the monster thing though, I have never enjoyed it on other games like ToSII or DQJ. Hopefully it's better done here. Didn't pre order the crystal version after all. Spent a lot of money lately. Only got the limited edition for the in game content, think I get a calender with it too. Going to miss the soundtrack and artbook though.
killer kirby Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) The demo is...hmm...I don't like demo's really, it seems like every demo now sucks more compared to what demo's were once like. Still very much on the fence about this game, might get it when it goes in the sale bin 4 weeks after launch like ffxiii was. (Truth is I want that Final Fantasy rhythm game more than this) EDIT: Fuck it need to do it and I am shocked that it's not in the first post. Edited January 23, 2012 by killer kirby
Tales Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 There you are. Was wondering when the @troll would show up. Only played the demo for a half an hour or something but I liked what I saw. The monster customazion thingie looks like it could be fun.
killer kirby Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 There you are. Was wondering when the @troll would show up. So you want me to just talk about how awesome this game is and how nothing will ever touch it's pure brilliance, no final fantasy game has flaws right? Truth is, this game does interest me, it's just to me that the demo gave it no justice. FFX-2 was far mightier than FFX (But than again, anything would be better than FFX) and I hope FFXIII-2 will be better than FFXIII. I am one that doesn't care about towns or npc's, I just want a good well paced game. The start of FFXIII was promising, but it lost all the potential after 7 hours.
Tales Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) So you want me to just talk about how awesome this game is and how nothing will ever touch it's pure brilliance, no final fantasy game has flaws right? I'd prefer that. Thanks. But something tells me you're going tell us how bad it is anyway. A good tip for you, don't buy the game. You aren't going to enjoy it and it isn't going to be because of the game. Anyway, played more of the demo. Even more excited about the game now. I like how the monster participation is done in this game. Definitively better than ToSII. NPCs talking automatically as you pass by is always nice. And gil is back, no looting. And more, all in all, good demo, didn't encounter anything I was worried about or didn't like. Edited January 24, 2012 by Tales

Thanks man, can you just tell me all the games I will love and hate that are coming out so I don't have to bother buying any more games, much appreciated And I will get the game, and I will state what I think of the game once I play the game I shall post my thoughts, is it going to be good or bad, who knows, it's only once I play the game I shall talk about it.
Tales Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) I don't have to tell you anything, you already know wether or not you will like it. Recall all your "the game sucks" long before FFXIII was even released followed by a bunch of "See, it sucked" when the game was released? I have no idea why you're doing this. Anyone else played the demo? Edited January 24, 2012 by Tales
Wesley Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Ah fuck... Final Fantasy is so fucking Japanese.
Ellmeister Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I'm waiting to hear from Tales to see if this is actually any good before even looking at it.
Tales Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Why? I'm not excactly the most unbiased person around. I loved the original and I'm super excited for this (I probably should have learned my lesson though, ACR wasn't that good) But I played the demo and read the reviews and have no doubts I'm going to enjoy it. The game looks great.
Ellmeister Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Exactly. I quite enjoyed the previous and the only reason I didn't complete it was because my xbox somehow lost my saved game =[ and I'll be damned if I start all over again! Ergo, I shall wait to hear from you and just filter out the biased/ overly stupid love for FF.
