tapedeck Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I liked Fifa 11 - I mean really liked it. Once you got used to the newer dribbling and passing, it felt very fluent and under your control - something I don't get with Pro Evo anymore, which in my opinion has been very underwhelming since the 2008 edition. iPaul, have you played PES 2012 (2nd demo)? It's much improved in this regard. You now have 'almost' total control over each player and the throw ins and corners work superbly if you play as the receiving player. The game is now as close as it might get to the classic PES6. I'm skipping on FIFA this year. 11 was a step backwards compared to the WC edition and as said, it seems they just add new menu's in there and fix minor omissions whilst trying to add marketing features every year. At least Konami keep a constant crap menu design and continue to NOT market their game... It's like the 90's never went away!
nekunando Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 It's like the 90's never went away! ..and let's face it, the 90s were the best As I was watching Valencia v Chelsea tonight on ITV, I caught a FIFA 12 advert during the break with a laughable "94% - Flawless Football" attributed to GamesMaster I think someone at my brother's work has been filling his head with all sorts over the last week or so as it now looks like he'll be investing in this season's game, despite my reservations.. It's his choice, of course, and I'll certainly give the game some time should he make the purchase but I am not expecting "Flawless Football"
James Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 It has got some pretty good reviews, all 9's. So can't be that bad. http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/fifa-soccer-12/critic-reviews I think it's getting used to the new defending system which is throwing people off.

FIFA 11 got great reviews and didn't have a new defending system.. and it was absolutely rubbish As I've said, I'll give it a go but good reviews for FIFA mean absolutely nothing to me..
flameboy Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Did anyone try out the legacy controls for defending on the demo?
Ramar Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I must admit I'm disappointed the supermarkets aren't falling over each other this year trying to get the cheapest price. Most places are doing crappy buy x and get the game cheaper tactics.
Happenstance Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 You know it still annoys me in football games that you get that loss of control with a player when you know they should be able to move and tackle or something but its like auto move/targetting has taken over for a second and you cant do what you need to.
tapedeck Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Did anyone try out the legacy controls for defending on the demo? Yes and it played like FIFA 11.5. I think each year they just don't make enough improvements for me. Why are only some teams using modern face scan tech and others don't? Shouldn't all major teams have updated faces? Also, the same stadia appear all over again with the same lines in the commentary. It's just not enough to buy each year yet people lap it up for minor changes. Tbh I'm a bit tired of it and it seems like the only thing keeping yearly updates going is the 'fanbase' of football and the fact that its an event! I'm surprised the series hasn't suffered from burnout.
MadDog Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I won't be buying it this year, well i don't plan to. It feels so heavy and slow, and it feels so uninspired and dull.

nekunando Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I may have helped talk my brother out of it as I'm pretty sure he'll hate it. I just know he won't like the new defensive elements..
Ramar Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Bought the Special Edition (same price as regular, but you get 3 Gold Packs for Ultimate Team for 6 months) came to ~£35 after staff discount. Just thumped Spurs in my first game, getting use to the defending. Think I'll learn to love it.
dazzybee Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Just thumped Spurs in my first game, getting use to the defending. Think I'll learn to love it. Only in FIFA (Can't wait for Sunday). I'm going to get this game, the sheer amount of game time I get from FIFA is easily worth the money. Yeah Id prefer squad updates instead and they redevelop the game every 3 or 4 years, but still it's worth it. Ging to pick this and the 3DS version up when i get back home on Monday!

Surprised you're not getting PES this year. It's really good. Spurs are fully represented too.

flameboy Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 How many people are getting this on ps3 not worth it if not got ppl to play against a lot!
Emerald Emblem Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 FIFA has been one of the few times I use my 360 nowheredays. I'm wondering if I should go PS3 route this time or not.
James Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 This game is marvellous, I love the new defending, and the head to head seasons is a excellent addition. Although picking a five star team other than barca or real madrid is utterly pointless as this seems to be the only choice by most people.
Haden Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Hey guys manager mode looks interesting in it do you manage the team and play as them? Or are you literally just the manager and watch them play games?
James Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Hey guys manager mode looks interesting in it do you manage the team and play as them? Or are you literally just the manager and watch them play games? You can choose three options, Player lets you just play as your 'be a pro'. Player and Manger lets you use your pro and manage the team. You can also play as the whole team in this option including your be a pro. Manager you manage the team and play as everyone

nekunando Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 ..what is the deal with all the love for this game? I just don't see it.. at all These are supposed to be supreme athletes we're maneuvering around the pitch but they feel like tanks with no pace or precision. Sluggish.. very, very sluggish There have also been glitches with the collisions in every game we have played so far and despite the controls being customised and saved again and again, every time the game is turned on the controls are all over the place. 2 different buttons for Finesse Shot Modifier? Sprint on the D-Pad?! Well done again, EA..

spirited away Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Hmm, I guess it just clicks or it doesn't, because I don't understand the whining at all. To me, it's the best Fifa yet. Thing with PES is, no matter how good each new rendition may be (it has never reached the heights of PES 6 imo), the fact it doesn't have the license means I'd plump for Fifa anyway.
