Dante Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 (edited) VG247 = Darker Ryu Ninja Gaiden III project lead Yosuke Hayashi has dished some details on the game in the latest edition of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, and it looks as though players are going to be seeing a darker Ryu Hayabusa than ever before. According to the magazine, Ninja Gaiden III with focus “more deeply on Ryu Hayabusa’s life and lifestyle and feelings and thoughts,†with Hayashi describing him as “a dark Japanese hero.†“We are trying to take the violent concepts even deeper and make people realize how it feels to actually kill someone and what it is to actually gut someone,†he said. “It’s very important to us that people realize that violence is not only about blood and gore.†Hayashi mentioned that “there won’t be new playable characters,†in the game, and the team is taking a different approach to the game’s difficulty level. “We know that many fans feel good about the difficulty level, but we are taking a slightly different approach,†he explained. “It’s not that the game’s going to be easier – nothing like that. It’s just that we are trying to make a whole game, a more exciting game that can be enjoyed by anyone. “But at the same time, hardcore gamers will be able to feel and appreciate what the series is about.†Hayashi went on to say the game would include a “complex multiplayer mode,†and than any word on whether it would support Move or not was a closely guarded secret. No word on a release date yet, but the game is expected to get a full reveal during E3 in June. Edited April 3, 2011 by Dante
LegoMan1031 Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 They need to keep the blood effects in like in the 360 version of the second. And don't do what they did with with PS3 sigma 2 and take most of the blood out!!!
Retro_Link Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 They need to keep the blood effects in like in the 360 version of the second. And don't do what they did with with PS3 sigma 2 and take most of the blood out!!! Judging from the teaser trailer, I don't think that will be the case! Surely just having two difficulty levels is a simple way around the complaints?! Oh and thread title change.

Dan_Dare Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 They don't need to make it easier- they just need to sort out the fucking shit camera. Seriously, the game would be so, so much better with a fixed camera system like DMC. They already have the best third person combat system outside of Bayonetta but it's hamstringed by the rest of the game and some fairly poor design choices elsewhere.
LegoMan1031 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 They already made an easier mode in NGII which was fine, they just need to do the same again! Id love to know the reason why they took most of the blood out of the ps3 version of NGII, i played both versions and i couldn't believe the difference!
Shorty Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Other than the gore, which I'm not really bothered about, did you find one version better than the other? I was recently thinking of picking up Sigma 2 for the PS3, because I thought it was supposedly a slightly improved version of the standard NGII. But if there's not much in it, I'd rather have it adding to my gamerscore :3

But if there's not much in it, I'd rather have it adding to my gamerscore :3 Sigma 2 is the better version, graphics are slightly better, more 'polished', some new characters to play as with some new bosses. Although i'm pretty sure the levels they were in are just repeating a section of Ryus. Apparantly the framerate is better in Sigma 2 by reducing enemies and blood flowing everywhere! (i did a quick google search coz it was bugging me). Although from memory i don't ever think it was terrible in the 360 one or anything. Depending on price it would make sense to get Sigma 2 since it has more stuff in it, however i don't think you would be really missing out if u went with the 360 one.
Tissue Town Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Gameplay footage shows that this game looks like shite. Way to turn it into Ninja Gaiden of War for pussies where we humanize the enemy and climb up walls at a snails pace with a million QTE prompts. Well done Hayashi, have a biscuit.
S.C.G Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Meh... trailer looked a bit dodgy yes and while I don't think it's beyond redmption they clearly need to take a look at the direction they seem to be taking this game series in and rethink it somewhat as the last two main games were fantastic so it'd be sad to just see it start immitating God of War if that's indeed what they plan to do. However I have a bit more faith in Team Ninja than that... plus the game is coming out next year so that should give them ample time to sort things out.

Although from memory i don't ever think it was terrible in the 360 one or anything. There was a section on those stairs, but they patched that.

It looks like they're going for something completely different. Almost like DmC. Itagaki isn't leading this anymore. They are going for a more simplified western market. This won't be great.
James McGeachie Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Hey, a game that doesn't have to just be in Other Consoles! This will be a refreshing trend for the future...as long as it lasts.
Ten10 Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Don't think I'm ready for another Ninja Gaiden, I haven't touched the second one since I got stuck back in January 2010. Tried it again today but I forgot the buttons and so need to start again to remember how to play the damn thing. I like it though harkens back to the good old days when games seemed to last longer as there was a nice big wall of difficulty to get over.

I'm in a worm and no idea what to do. Might just start again.

I couldn't even get past the guy that beat up my dad (ahem end of level 2 *cough cough.*) Yeah so so much for family honour and all that. So I don't know if dad makes it or if I ever see that woman who stole the dragon statue again. When I tried to play it again today I died in less than ten seconds repeatedly and so decided to start from the beginning, re-learn the controls and go back to my old save file.
LegoMan1031 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 This should be released early 2012 according to this teaser trailer.
LegoMan1031 Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 So anyone bought/played this? Reviews were crap but a friend has lent it me to play through on PS3. Lots of blood (which is ace) but uses QTE's like all the time and it just seems to have lost the NG magic!
Deathjam Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Avoiding it like the plague. Sad to see how one person (Itagaki) leaving makes so much of a difference rather than it being a team effort.
Cube Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge will be released on 360/PS3 with 25 additional missions and some extra costumes.
