Beast Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Vote: Dazz Harsh! Why? By the way, we're in night phase! :p It would be helpful if people sent in their night actions... [i've been really busy, so wouldn't have been able to do so far anyway.] I sent mine in!
Tales Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I thought it was day! I was just trying to get things moving :P
chairdriver Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 I don't think I'm going to have time to properly do this until the end of term, so do you want me to just end it, and post the roles? The town is obviously going to lose anyway.
Jonnas Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I suppose I can wait a few weeks more. It would suck if the game had to end like this.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 To be honest I think we might as well end it. I mean, it's been a great game so far, but I honestly don't see it picking up momentum again, especially not if we have to wait even longer.
chairdriver Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 (edited) THE GAME IS OVER "There. That's every last grain swept up!" says Daisy triumphantly, examining the floor with a magnifying glass. "What a relief! That took long enough." sighs Minnie, placing the brush against the wall. "Now, Mickey, you have to go tell Yen Sid!" "What, why me? I don't want to!" he says with a tremble in his voice, clutching the crudely mended hourglass. Hands on hips, the two women gave him a disapproving look. "OK, OK. It is my fault for borrowing it!" he says, skiddaddling out the doorway. --- THE GAME HAS ENDED, WITH THE VILLAINS CONSIDERED WINNERS. VILLAIN ROLES Maleficent – ReZourceman Jafar – Tales The Shadow Man – Heroicjanitor Hades – The Peeps Ursula – Jonnas In every world there are those that thrive upon evil acts. You are the representatives of such people, the Villains. You are united under an instinctive and inherent desire to enjoy absolute power, and will plot and plan in order to crush the hopes and dreams of the Heroes. You may communicate outside the game thread, on this forum. Your schemes are restrained by the hedonistic self-indulgence of villainy and to outright kill would undermine your reason for existence as a villain; as such, you do not have a traditional mafia kill ability, but as usual you win when you overpower the Heroes. Maleficent You are the stone-hearted leader of the Villains, Maleficent. By the breaking of the hourglass you have been transported from the Land That Sleeps to this world of temporal change and nonsensicality. If anything, this displacement has caused your hellmagic to increase in potency. You can stop Heroes in their tracks with ease; every night you may roleblock another player. Also, as long as any of your allies remain in the game you cannot be lynched or killed. Your sidekick is Diablo, the raven that sits upon your shoulder. On nights that your sidekick comes into play, you will be informed of all players that do not take a night action. Jafar You are Jafar. Your powerlust exceeds your position as the Sultan's vizier, and bursting forth from Agrabah you have asserted yourself as powerful sorcerer, and strategist for the Villains. Using your serpent staff, you may manipulate and control others; every night, you may target another player and choose their target. Your sidekick is Iago, the loudmouth parrot who also has the ability to mimic voices. On nights that your sidekick comes into play, in addition to your normal night action you can specify a Disney character to mimic, and choose a target. In the write-up, it will appear as though the specified character is talking to your chosen target. The Shadow Man You are Dr. Facilier, the voodoo magician known as The Shadow Man. Hailing from Roaring 20s New Orleans, you have cheated economic hardship by turning to The Other Side. Little do you realise, you are more a slave to the voodoo magic than you would ever be to money, and you are driven to evil in an attempt to keep your head above the ever rising water. Every night, you may target another player. They will be offered immunity from night kills. If they accept, they will transformed into a frog and in addition to becoming immune to night kills, they will lose any powers they have. As with all dark magics, Love will break this transformation. Any player which declines this offer will be plagued by your friends from The Other Side; for the rest of the game on odd nights their target will be randomised. Your sidekick is your shadow. During the day after the night your sidekick comes into play, your vote will count for 2. Hades You are Hades, god of death and lord of the underworld. Being a god, immortal and empowered, you have little interest in complying to the mortal concept of morality, instead, you dwell on your cursed fortune to forever watch the underworld and spend your time scheming to overthrow those keeping you there. Every night, you may target another player, and also specify a different player to your target. Your target will be offered the ability to resurrect a player of their choice who was killed in a night phase. If they accept, the dead player will be resurrected, and in addition, a curse will be placed on your target such that your target will die if the player you specified is alive at the end of the third day phase following. Love will break this curse. [For example. You target Hercules, and specify Phil. Hercules is given the option to revive a character of his choice. He accepts, and chooses Meg. She is revived, and in return, Hercules is cursed and will die if Phil, the player you specified, is not dead in 3 days time]. For the rest of the game, if a player that has declined your offer targets you, they will be killed. Your sidekicks are Pain and Panic. On nights that your sidekicks come into play, in addition to your normal night action, you may target another player. If this player does not take a night action, they will be silenced during the following day phase. Ursula You are the sea-witch Ursula. Having been the victim of prejudice from merfolk because of your cecaeliaic form, you have turned to magic and villainy, enjoying power and beauty through trickery. You have transformed into the alluring raven-haired Vanessa, both in order to walk on the desert sands, and to enjoy beauty – however, this beauty is only skin deep – you still retain your ugly voice. Every night, you can also transform each of your allies into a human Disney character of your choice – this is not an action, and your ally will be indistinguishable apart from their voice, which will not be changed. Also, every night, you may target another player. Your target will be offered an tracker ability. If they accept, they will gain this ability, and you will also steal their voice. They will be forced to “Talk With Actions” for the rest of the game. Also, after 3 day phases, they will be killed, if they do not manage to embrace Love. If your target declines your offer, you will learn that player's power. Your sidekicks are the eels Flotsam and Jetsam. On nights that your sidekicks come into play, you will learn who targets you. Villain extras- When attempt to nightkill or lynch Maleficient is made, she turns into a dragon. From then onwards, she loses the roleblock ability and instead makes night kills. - When a member of the mafia is killed, the non-mafia player with the least posts is automatically killed. - When Hades is killed, all players he has brought back from the dead are killed. - When a villain is loved, a scene is triggered in the write-up which shows the hero in question battling that villain. For example, if Tales is loved, the write-up will show Aladdin battling Jafar. Edited January 29, 2011 by chairdriver
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Some very interesting game concepts! I'm excited to see the town's roles.
chairdriver Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 (edited) TOWNIES, PT. 1 (Those which are considered Male for the purposes of Tinker Bell's power) Christopher Robin - Diageo You are Christopher Robin, the little boy whose toys inhabit the enchanted neighbourhood of 100 Acre Wood. After the breaking of the hourglass, you now find yourself in a place more enchanted, a place of nonsensicality. Despite your childhood innocence and naivety, you have a deeprooted sense of good and bad; you are a Hero, and win when the Villains are defeated. Every day and every night, you may send two of your friends from 100 Acre Wood to investigate another player, and they will report back to you with your target's alignment. You must pick two of your friends, from the following: Eeyore Kanga Roo Rabbit Piglet Owl Winnie The Pooh Tigger Your sidekick is Winnie The Pooh. On nights where your sidekick comes into play, you will be told which of the two friends you chose was most influential in the detective work. Christopher Robin's result was determined by which friends he sent to make the investigation. The friends were ordered in descending power of influence over the others: Owl Rabbit Tigger Roo Winnie The Pooh Eeyore Piglet Kanga For a pair chosen, the highest on the list was highlighted, and the one lower down was disregarded. The result was then determined by which friend was highlighted: Owl - result decided randomly Rabbit - result always opposite of what was true. Tigger - investigation always fails Roo – result always true Winnie The Pooh – result always "town" Eeyore - result always "neutral" Piglet – result always "town" Kanga - (not applicable, due to the way power works) Tarzan - Cube You are Tarzan, a human raised by gorillas. After the breaking of the hourglass, your home jungle has disappeared, replaced with a more desertic environment; a place where the law of the jungle is replaced by surreal laws. Your animalistic sense of good and bad makes you a Hero; you win when the Villains are defeated. Even in an alien environment, your stalking abilities come naturally to you. every night, you may target another player, you will watch them and learn who else targeted them. Having been raised as a gorilla, you cannot speak; you may not post normally in the game thread, instead you may only vote, thank and “Talk in actions”. Your sidekick is Jane. On nights your sidekick comes into play, she will teach you to speak. You will learn the character name of any player that targets you. You will then be able to say this character name as speech and in action clauses. The first time Tarzan was loved would make it so he'd be able to speak with 1 syllable words. Then when he was loved again, his role changed to: Tarzan and Jane - Cube The meeting of two worlds has brought out the best in both. Now Jane may do the talking (you can now post in the game thread as a normal player would) and Tarzan may do the action. Every night, you may target another player or target yourself. That player will be protected from nightkills. You now have two sidekicks, the gorilla Terk, and Professor Porter. On nights your sidekicks come into play, you may choose one of the two. If you choose Terk, you will roleblock anyone that targets you. If you choose Professor Porter, you will learn the character name of anyone that targets you. Milo - Eenuh You are Milo James Thatch, the scholar commissioned to search for the lost city of Atlantis. After the breaking of the hourglass, you find yourself in a new world, a world unlike any known place on Earth, a place of surrealism and nonsensicality. This new world is perfect to spark your inquisitive mind, and with investigation, you will slowly begin to unravel the workings of this world. During the day phase, you may pose questions to me via PM about the mechanics of the game, that I will answer. You may ask one question per PM, and may not ask another question until I have answered the previous question. The amount of information you receive will correspond to how well you stick to the “spirit” of the role. [For example, you will receive information if you ask questions like: How do we cure poison? How do we reverse a transformation? How do we avoid this trap? How do we work out how to use character x's power to its full effect? You will receive little-to-no information from questions like: What character is player x? What is player x's power? Is player x mafia?] Your sidekick is Princess Kida of Atlantis. On nights your sidekick comes into play, you cannot be nightkilled. You are a Hero. You win when the Villains are defeated. Wart - Aqui1a You are Wart, the young squire whose destiny it is to become Arthur, King Of England. After the breaking of the hourglass, you now find yourself in a surreal world, where things occur weirder than Merlin's magic. Despite your change of surroundings, your noble spirit still stays in touch. You are a Hero; you win when the Villains are defeated. Once during the game, during the day phase, you may pull out the sword in the stone. You will become king. What privileges and perils you will have as king is a mystery at this point. Your sidekick is Merlin, the Wizard. On nights your sidekick comes into play, you will transformed into a random animal, and the following day phase you will not be able to pull out the sword in the stone. - His sidekick mechanic effectively had no effect apart from inconveniencing him. - When he pulled the sword from the stone he'd be crowned King. From then on, a lynch could only go through if he participated in it. And his mechanic would change so that Merlin would banish anyone that tried to nightkill or lynch him [this would over-ride kill immunity]. Lilo – Nintendohnut You are Lilo, a young girl from the tropical paradise of Hawaii. After the breaking of the hourglass, you find yourself in a new world. A world stranger and more surreal than an alien planet, a place where normal rules don't seem to apply. However, nothing can change your plucky attitude. You are a Hero through-and-through and win when the Villains are defeated. Using a piece of alien technology, you may target another player at night and learn their alignment. Your sidekick is your pet dog/alien, Stitch. On nights where your sidekick comes into play, every time a player targets you, Stitch will attack them, silencing them the following day phase. - She always got a bad result, until she was loved, where she'd drop the alien gadget and use her own judgement. Kuzco - Ellmeister You are Emperor Kuzco, the groovéd ruler of the Incas. After the breaking of the hourglass, you now find yourself in a new world, a world even more surreal and nonsensical than your camp and colourful City of The Sun. You aren't going to let anyone steal your limelight, and even if you aren't mandated to reign, you will still rule (in all senses of the word). You are a Hero, and win when the villains are defeated. During the day phase, if a vote is cast against you –- if someone interrupts your groove –- the day phase will end immediately. Your sidekick is Yzma, your royal advisor. On nights where your sidekick comes into play, you won't have to rule, so will have a quiet night off. Win. - When Yzma comes into play, she randomly attacks a townie. There is a 25% chance they'll be roleblocked, a 25% chance they'll be "killed" (removed from the game for a phase), a 25% chance they'll be misdirected, and a 25% chance nothing will happen. - When his groove is interrupted, he'll end the day phase early. Then Yzma will turn him into a Llama. Yzma and Kronk then appeal to the Villains, and in a miscommunication, Yzma will kill a Villain randomly. Pacha then becomes Kuzco's sidekick, and automatically protects a player from death when he comes into play. Edited January 29, 2011 by chairdriver
Jonnas Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Well, the townies are as awesome as the villains! Man, it really is a shame this has ended. I was going to come out as a "redirector" and say "ReZ has targeted [person who was targeted by Hades]". We'd gain a day, just enough for us to win. Even better, it seems this would've given ReZ killing powers! This was an awesome game. The "kill-less mafia" worked pretty well. Of course, I can see a million things that could've gone wrong (judging from those townie powers). We were very lucky.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I love Eenuh/Milo's role. Could really have been a game changer.
Jonnas Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I love Eenuh/Milo's role. Could really have been a game changer. You're right. I learned about that role mid-game. We were lucky that Paj died from the deal with Hades, she obviously knew how to save him. And everyone else. She could potentially even discover our disguises!
The Peeps Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 It's such a shame this game lost its momentum as it was obviously enjoyed by everyone and I think the game mechanics Chairdriver introduced were really cool.
chairdriver Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 TOWNIES, PT. 2 (The women) Belle – mr-paul You are Belle, poor provincial girl, who is beautiful –- there's no doubt about that –- a beauty, but a funny girl. Having committed to staying in the castle of the Beast, the hourglass broke, sending you to a new world, built upon the surreal. You are a Hero, and win when the Villains are defeated. At the start of the day phase, you will learn the identity of any players killed at night, by looking into your enchanted mirror. Your sidekick is the Beast. On nights your sidekick comes into play, you may target another player. They will be scared off, and will leave the game for 3 days. PS. A rose floats, enchanted. It looks as though the final petal will fall in 7 days time... - As we saw, if she wasn't loved before day 7, she'd leave the game.- If she was loved, the Beast would transform, and she'd become a vanilla townie. Pocahontas – The Bard / Sméagol You are Pocahontas, the beautiful daughter of Chief Powhatan. You are the voice of reason in a warfaring world, a world that has since disappeared after the breaking of the hourglass. In your new world, a world of surrealism and nonsensicality, those that claim to be sophisticated are as savage as the next. You are a Hero, and win when the Villains are defeated. Every day phase, you may choose to activate your power via PM. If you do, and if a player gains a majority of lynch votes against them and is to be lynched, you will stop the lynch from happening, ending the day phase. You will learn the true alignment of the player who would have been lynched. Your sidekick is Meeko, your pet raccoon. He often leads you into trouble, and as a result, on nights where he comes into play, there is a 16% chance each of the other players will target you accidently instead of their intended target. My favourite role. Was there to stop the town lynching people. Mulan – Dazz You are Fa Mulan; woman, soldier, person who puts compassion before tradition. You come from the Land Of Dragons, China, but now after the breaking of the hourglass you find yourself in a new world of surrealism. You are a Hero, and win when all the Villains are defeated. Every night, you may target another player, you will stealthily follow them and you will learn who they target. Because the world does not take kindly to female soldiers, you cannot claim to be female, nor can you directly claim to be Mulan. If you do, you will lose your power permanently. Your sidekick is Mushu, the guardian dragon. On nights where your sidekick comes into play, if you are targeted, the player targeting you will be sent a PM warning them not to target you. They will be given the option to change their target. Snow White – Dannyboy-The-Dane You are Snow White, the fairest in the land. Or once *was* the fairest in the land. Now after the breaking of the hourglass, you find yourself in a new world. A world of surrealism and nonsensicality. So nonsensical that there are birds and deer in a desert region. Naturally, you have made friends with them, and every night, you may send them to aid another player. That player will be protected from roleblockage, misdirection and silencing. While its arguable whether you are still the fairest in the land, you are still very much a Hero, and will win when the villains are defeated. At any point in the game, you may PM me; you will bite an apple, fall into a deep sleep, and will be removed from the game. If you are removed from the game in this way, you will win if the Heroes win, and you will lose if the Villains lose. Your sidekicks are the seven dwarfs. On nights where your sidekicks come into play, if you are killed, you will not die – instead, you will bite an apple and fall into a deep sleep as described above, and will win if the Heroes win. Esmeralda – Paj Meen Ah You are Esmeralda, gypsy angel, gypsy siren. After the breaking of the hourglass, the Parisian streets and underbelly that you once knew so well have disappeared and instead you find yourself in a surreal and nonsensical world of desertous sands. Even in this new world you are still very much a Hero, and win when the Villains are defeated. Every night, you may target another player. You will trick them using your gypsy magic and will prevent them from using their night ability. Your sidekick is your goat, Djali. On nights where your sidekick comes into play, you will disguise yourself as an old woman, and anyone who targets you will instead target someone different.
heroicjanitor Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I want to see EddieColeslaw's role, she could kill and had to have the entire town vote to lynch her.
chairdriver Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 NEUTRALS Tinker Bell – MadDog You are Tinker Bell, the jealous and aggressive fairy. Once a resident of Never Land, you now find yourself in a strange new world, where nonsensicality and surrealism rules. Despite the change of surrounds, your distaste for women –- or competition for Peter Pan's affection as you see them – - is as strong as ever. As such, you win when all female characters have been defeated. Every night, you may target another player. If they are female, you will prevent them from carrying out their night action. If they are male, you will encourage them onwards, allowing them to act twice in one night. Because of your tiny stature and tiny voice, you cannot post in the game thread. Instead, you may PM other players freely. When you send PMs, you must cc me into the message. Every day, you may choose another player to attach your Lynch vote and Love vote to. That player will use your votes to become a double voter for the day. Your sidekick is Peter Pan. On nights where your sidekick comes into play, you will appear as town when investigated. The following day, you will be able to use Peter Pan to communicate with the players in the game thread, but you must post entirely in the third person, as though you are Peter Pan talking about Tinker Bell. The day after Peter Pan first comes into play, the following rolechange would happen: As you watch Peter Pan fly away to have his own fun, you begin to plot. You fly away to find Captain Hook. From now on, on nights after Peter Pan has been in play to talk for you, you may send Captain Hook and his pirates to go and abduct another player, effectively killing them. Your win condition remains the same. Chernabog – EddieColeslaw You are Chernabog, the demon god which resides atop Bald Mountain. You awaken every Walpurgis Night to raise the dead from the graves and convert them into demons. However, after the breaking of the hourglass, you have been transported to a new surreal world, and your routine has been disturbed. In order to exact revenge for this interference, you will kill all the inhabitants of this new world. Every night, you may kill another player. You cannot be roleblocked, nor can your target be altered. The remains of that player will be hidden, so the rest of the players will not find out that player's character. You win when there are 5 or less players remaining in the game. You can only be lynched if every other player in the game who is capable of casting a vote votes for you. Your sidekick is the Green Forest Sprite [from Fantasia 2000]. On nights your sidekick comes into play, a dead player will be randomly resurrected. This player will be ignored when considering if your win condition has been attained.
Jonnas Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Damn, talk about a monstrous role I mean, it's incredible that we even managed to lynch Eddie.
Beast Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 These roles are seriously awesome! I loved Eenuh's role the most though. Shame the game ended, I thought of a way to tell everybody who I was without directly saying I was Mulan, haha. Great game Chair, shame it had to end!
Mr-Paul Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Very interesting game, the roles were so varied and very creative. I'd actually forgotten about the 7 days thing, but was still begging for love as I thought I was cursed by Hades. I think it maybe was a bit hard for the town to win if a townie was to die every time a member of the mafia did. And the hiatus unfortunately killed it. But I was enjoying it. I liked being able to find out what character people were when they died and being able to scare people away and find out who they were in the process. Unfortunately I didnt get to use that too much as I had to be part of a successful lynch to use it and all too often i was unsure!
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 This game was awesome. The roles were amazing. The game mechanics were clever. Too bad it went on hiatus.
Tales Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 There's bound to be a good few mafia members in this list of people who lynched Dohnut: Eddiecoleslaw, Jonnas, MadDog, Diageo, heroicjanitor, The Peeps, ReZourceman, Tales, Dazz More mafia voted for Nintendohnut than townies :P We didn't realize this until after he was lynched. -1 point for teamwork :P As everyone else has said, it was a great game and a shame with the hiatus.
Cube Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 My power seemed to be a bit more beneficial to the before it was upgraded. Although it was hard to explain myself then. Still, it was very enjoyable while it lasted - plus my upgraded sidekick power sounded like it made me invincible when a lynch took place.
Nintendohnut Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Well, this is what happens when you disregard the mafia game queue :p It was fine, but I always think the paranoid cop role is pointless. Why would people vote to love me when I was never going to turn up any useful information? *shrugs* Everyone else role was good, so it was a shame I was stuck with that one. Never mind. (I was totally telling the truth the whole time. I even said "at least you'll have a vote pattern - then nobody even looked at it! AND the whole mafia voted for me. I mean goddam)
