Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 As in the theme would be Mafia VS Town, with normal kind of roles like standard roleblockers, protectors, investigators, trackers etc. But Vanilla also means that all the complex roles have been removed. I was wondering if that included the investigators and protectors. Some people prefer it that way, but if it's not real-life, I don't get how the game ever gets anywhere when there's nothing to discuss or go by.
ReZourceman Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 *Shrugs* I'm just here for the coffee.
Shorty Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 ReZ, I became disheartened with forum games when you lazily forgot all about your "Epic game" about 1/4 of the way through.
ReZourceman Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 ReZ, I became disheartened with forum games when you lazily forgot all about your "Epic game" about 1/4 of the way through. Meh, it wasn't that epic. You should give the superior (and better structured) Mafia a try. Thousands of people can't be wrong.
MadDog Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 My signups for my DIY game are in the playground. Hoping to get at least 5 more signed up, go check it out!
Shorty Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Meh, it wasn't that epic. Yes... that was your fault.
ReZourceman Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 Yes... that was your fault. Your expectations were too high. When do I ever deliver on my promises. But you should sign up to the new Pokemafia. I only need one more player, and I promise you, it'll be epic.
Mundi Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 But Vanilla also means that all the complex roles have been removed. I was wondering if that included the investigators and protectors. Some people prefer it that way, but if it's not real-life, I don't get how the game ever gets anywhere when there's nothing to discuss or go by. The first two games were vanilla games and they ended up being great. I just hate the obsession with being an investigator, you can find out a lot of info just from following other peoples post patterns and the write-up, that is if the write-up is properly written. Just as a chance to brag some more, I played in near every Mafia game but was very rarely an investigator, still I had the highest winning streak. If you cannot be bothered to pay attention to the game then you are not really taking part in it...

As a matter of fact, I prefer working out from the write-ups who is who and who did what instead of relying on investigations. However, if there are no nightpowers what so ever, there are no write-ups, either, so I don't see a game without nightpowers working.
Mundi Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Vanilla does not mean no night-powers what so ever for the town... A vanilla game is just a Mafia game with no overarching theme. For example: the coppers are cops (not inspector gadget or something), Mafia members are just Mafia members (not a group of bad guys from a TV-series). Just keeping it simple and not requiring background knowledge from something you mat not know about.

ReZourceman Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 Still need more regular people!
flameboy Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I don't have a clue what mafia games are it just seems abit boring!!!
MadDog Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Until you've played one, you may think that. Just try one, I promise you'll like it, just make sure you can be active.
ReZourceman Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 I don't have a clue what mafia games are it just seems abit boring!!! Boring? Outragous, they are tense! Example; 20 people play. 5 people are bad guys, and know each other, and chose to kill a person in the night. The other 15 are good guys but do not know each other. Each person has special abilities. Hilarity ensues.
Ellmeister Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 And paranoia, god the paranoia is deadly!
Raining_again Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 And paranoia, god the paranoia is deadly! I don't think I helped that for you
MadDog Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 They are seriously good. In my game one day phase went on for about 20 pages I think...But yeah, certainly give it a whirl. Smeagol for example. He's playing in his 2nd game, he puts in the effort and he really enjoys them. Aslong as you try and take part, you'll love it.
ReZourceman Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 In my game one day phase went on for about 20 pages Don't I know it. :p ---------- Where else would you see stuff like this; ReZourceman is dead. He was a Doughnut...
Diageo Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I got a new member in the forum just because I showed him the games and he thought he would try it out.
Sméagol Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 [..]Smeagol for example. He's playing in his 2nd game, he puts in the effort and he really enjoys them.[..] Correction: I'm playing in my first game. I didn't last as long in my second .
