Happenstance Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Got the PS3 version today. Thankfully im finding playing it with a controller fine after worrying how well it worked after using the keyboard and mouse for the first one. Really liking Stephen Merchant in it as well. I mean I always like him anyway but so far the little robot is pretty awesome.
EEVILMURRAY Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Can anyone on the PC [Or possibly the other consoles] help me with the menu? For some bullshit reason the resolution is massive, and I can see the option to change the size but not any of the options below to actually change it because they're off screen. How many buttons must I press?
Shorty Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Change the launch options on the game. In steam, right click the game, properties Set launch option type in: -w 1920 -h 1080 (replacing with your desired res) save n go
Caris Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) Anyone with the console version, go into display settings and change the display mode from Television to Computer Monitor if you're playing on a HDTV. Trust me. Edited April 21, 2011 by Caris
Happenstance Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Theres no choice for that on the PS3 version
Caris Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 That explains why the PS3 version looks so much better in comparison pics.
Caris Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Adjusts the colour levels, basically it looks washed out on the default setting.
The Lillster Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I got this today and it's amazing. I've only played the demo of the first one. Too bad PSN is down. Anyway, back to more 'testing'...
The Lillster Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Uuuurm, go play the first one now. I want to get the 'Valve Complete Pack' for £49.99 off Steam, but I haven't got enough money at the moment, otherwise I would.
Shorty Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Do you have a 360? I believe it's currently 600 points which is about a fiver. You should really play the first one first
Daft Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 If you buy Portal 2 on Steam I thought you got Portal with it. It came with mine. Or it's just £6.99 on Steam. You really should play it before Portal 2.
heroicjanitor Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 The Valentine's day trailer was funny I like this video too, mainly for the song Good trailers go a long way

Daft Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 It's arguably a better game and like everything, the more you are aware of the context the more you'll enjoy the sequel.
The Lillster Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) It's arguably a better game and like everything, the more you are aware of the context the more you'll enjoy the sequel. I enjoy the Star Wars Original Trilogy less, after watching the prequels, so your statement isn't entirely accurate. :p As of said, I'll get it when I can. Edit 01: 'As of said' ?!? WTF have I been smoking? Edited April 22, 2011 by The Lillster
Emasher Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Didn't the main character have Amnesia at the start of the second game? In that case, not playing the first one might add to the effect. Either way, its still worth playing the first game. It can easily be finished in one sitting as well, so its not like it requires a huge time commitment.
Shorty Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Although now I'm thinking a sig/av combo would be really nice.
Dog-amoto Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I may be remembering things wrong here, but is the reticule a little different this time? In the first game, I was sure it faded out when you were aiming at a surface where you couldn't plant a portal. This time it does it when you have no portal placed of that colour. Not sure I like it like this as sometimes a surface looks placeable, but it's not and vice versa
Cube Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Just booted up the PC version and I'm quite surprised at how smoothly it runs and how good it looks with it. And the 360 controller works perfectly with it (which helps - I found it very juddery using it in the first Portal on PC). Actually, it runs a lot better than L4D2, and with higher settings.
McPhee Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Split-Screen co-op on the PC; http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1847904 If I've read that correctly you should also be able to play on separate monitors. Not got a copy to test this yet, but if that's true then it is absolutely EPIC! They should have included it from the start!
