Is anyone else watching this right now on Channel 4? Very distressing documentary. It just makes me so angry that someone could completely ruin someone else's life in such an evil and easy manner.

I only saw the advert.

But I couldn't help thinking, "Meh".

I know that's bad.

But it was someone using her face to get her half-naked body on some rag, etc.

And I just though, "Oh well."

I know that's bad.

And terrible.

I don't think that she deserved it or anything, obviously.

Just.

I'm a dick I guess.

And in half an hour I might find out I'm a racist too.

Is this something that can be summarized in a paragraph for those living outside of the UK?

Katie: My Beautiful Face on Channel 4. It's about a former model and TV presenter who was stunning until her psycopathic boyfriend raped her and then hired a goon to throw acid in her face. She's physically scarred now really badly, and is blind in one eye and has to eat through a straw. This angers me to the point that I believe the people who did it shoud just be shot outside, or even better, have acid thrown in their faces and see how they cope. Looks were everything to this girl, and if someone did it to me, I'd kill them.

Ok.

So it was someone she met on Facebook.

Went out with him.

Broke up and then he got his friend to throw the acid.

Oh, you just posted it.

Bless her, she feels embarassed whenever she goes outside. It wasn't her fault but she's feeling embarassed and guilty for it, because people stare at her.

They didn't do too bad a job with her face imo, and I think it's good she's trying to raise awareness of things. I find a strange something in the fact it happened to someone who was trying to get by in life and in a business where her looks are a major factor, though I don't by any means wish things like this upon anyone or think she deserves it, but I think it's a...well, an interesting something, I guess.

Not worth a documentary?

I didn't say not worth a documentary, I said an extensive documentary. I would probably bet I learnt more in the 5 minutes she was on This Morning than half the time it would've taken watching an hour long documentary.

Don't you watch (and live by) the rantings of some bloke about random crap?

I'm sorry if I want to keep fit by the teachings of Sportacus.

I saw a few minutes toward the end and it just made me feel sad. She's dealing with it and that's cool, but it's a total tragedy. I don't know how people can be so evil (throwing acid in someone's face evil). Do they have no empathy/conscience?

I also caught the last few minutes, while waiting for the racist programme.

Really felt sorry for her.

When she said how she doesn't want to be known by her friends/family as, that girl with the acid incident.

How she doesn't want it to define her life.

Quite amazingly brave.

They should have acid thrown in their faces, see how they cope.

She was coping brilliantly and had a lovely personality in the documentary. I don't like the last bit where she turned away from the shop assisstant and stood in the corner while her sister bought some make up because she was embarassed. It's so incredibly pathetic that we live in a society where people are 'embarassed' about something they have no control over.

Just when I thought this would be another Jordan and Pete thread..

I never usually watch things like this, it's too upsetting most times and I wouldn't enjoy watching it so..
