Borderlands

They probably had it completed before the game came out but felt like charging for it by releasing later. It's not massively different, they haven't added anything that new and it seems like they're going to make a lot of money from it for putting in little effort. IIRC someone said they tried harder in the narrative/presentation for the DLC than the main game, which whilst isn't that hard to achieve it makes me a bit annoyed they didn't focus on improving the standard of the disc content.

There's plenty of the same old shooting and slogging through side quests in the main game to become boring in co-op, so paying for more of those extra quests but with a different colour-palette seems inane. If it came in the original package I don't think people would have thought it should've been DLC.

I just think a lot of the time with DLC that people pay for it just because it is there.

Time is money. You're going to get a fair amount more play for a measly £6. It's an expansion, what else do you want?

If you're going to pay £30 + on a game (Ok you may have rented) I'd like to think anything on top of that offered quality or a vastly unique take on the game than quantity.

I know what you're like though, we'll argue for weeks at this rate.

Enjoy the DLC.

The main arguement I have with the DLC is that the game hasn't been out that long. It just seems like it was content that could have made it onto the disk but they held it back to make mucho moneys.

Haven't got it yet myself, so I can't comment on anything else.

I wouldn't have such a big problem with DLC if it was priced reasonably. Every DLC I've seen (sometimes bought) has been twice as much as what I'd value it, but the creators get away with it because it's only available through online stores.

I reckon sales would more than double if the prices halved, then again Borderlands DLC pricing is probably inelastic because of the more hardcore base it has, so I guess they may as well charge excessively. I'll stop before I sound like too much of a twat, or is it too late?

I ordered this from Zavvi for £16.95! Couldn't resist. I did say previously in the thread that I was going to get it after xmas when it dropped to lower than £20! My only slight concern is how much fun I will have with the game in singleplayer seem as most people on here have already completed it so co-op is not gonna happen and don't fancy playing with strangers to be honest.

I've played mostly single player and enjoyed it. Kind of gets dull after a while but just leave it and come back to it. There's no need to do it in one go. Not much else coming out this year.

Thats alright then...I am weighing up saving it for xmas hols...but might start it just not rush my way through it, got other stuff to be playing FIFA 10 and MW2 keep me occupied with the odd game of them online. Also got Mirrors Edge for a fiver the other day! Plus Spirit Tracks comes out soon, so not short of things to play if I get sick of it.

I'd pay a fiver to erase Mirror's Edge from my memory.

lol..I know it doesn't seem to ever be spoken highly of but at a fiver thought it would be worth playing through one weekend...

Anyway so Borderlands...how easy are the trophies to get? seem to be a lot of grindy ones but then somewhat annoyingly some online/co-op ones...

I loved it. It was extremely frustrating and just downright bad in some places, and yet at the end I couldn't help but look back and say it was a great, refreshing game with a really unique atmosphere. I sold it on, but only because a) I got 1000/1000 on it and b) I made a profit.

I remember being very frustrated at one point in the demo where had to walk across a beam/pipe between two buildings and combat wasn't all that great...

Combat was teh main downside, especially if you were aiming (like me, stupidly) to complete the game without firing a gun on your first run-through. Totally ruined the game for me.

ON TOPIC!

The other day, after getting to around level 5 single-player, I jumped online, got to level 8, then some dude invited me to a game and killed a few things and I effectively got boosted to level 18!

I picked up some cool guns (that I can't use 'til level 90 anyway) and got some cash... and then started feeling guilty and quit :P

Been playing single-player today, mostly because if I jump back to online I'll be missing a few missions. It's not too bad solo, and online (with strangers) you rarely seem to get everyone at around the same level, so it's just a case of level 50 dudes killing everything with one shot while you watch. Very annoying.

Feel very silly for paying £40 for this when it came out, considering I've only just started playing it.

I'm sorta conflicted on this game, I think it's interesting enough but not sure about it being yet another sandbox game, but then a 1 day offer of it for £18 is tempting. But Spirit Tracks is my planned last purchase of the year.

Yeah I was the same...I'm gonna get it because I think it offers more than just a sandbox game...its about loot and the co-op as well get it on PS3 and then we can play some co-op together!

Sorry flameboy, but I've decided I'm gonna stick to my guns on this one and get Spirit Tracks instead. I've had plenty of FPS action this year. Will probably avoid Borderlands cause by the time I'd get around to it online would be pretty quiet full of over levellers and since people seem to find it a one playthrough novelty I'd probably not get my monies worth.

When voucher codes work they are awesome. I decided to order borderlands with Spirit Tracks to use a £5 off £50 order discount. Will play with you when we both finish Spirit tracks then.
