flameboy Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Tried searching for this and there was no thread...saw one back when EA announced their intention to release 4 new NFS games including Shift and Nitro. Is anyone planning on getting this? I'm currently weighing it up, looks like a game that cuts a nice balance between sim and arcade depending on your level of skill. Tough choices this time of year though with sooooooo many games set to come out...Professor Layton, FIFA 10, GT PSP and Scribblenauts all with like the next 3 weeks!
MATtheHAT Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Its on my radar. But with GT5 just around the corner, Imma gonna wait.
Will Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 It's on my budgeted list but I'm not 100% sure yet. Looks fantastic but I think I'll wait for a demo before parting with my money.
Ryan Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 GameTrailers have a review but I haven't watched it yet.
Will Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Oooh I'll watch the GameTrailers review now, just noticed it's only been allocated £25 in my budget so it may have to wait a little while anyway.
iplanet77 Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I've got high hopes for this game. The NFS series went downhill when they released Pro Street and the developers admitted that. The pointless drag racing really ruined it for me. If what they're saying about this game is true, this new version should be a good arcade racer.
Domstercool Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 I'm loving this game so far. The cockpit view is easily the best view in the game and I've never seen any other race game do the view as well as this. I am playing the whole game in the cockpit view as it just works that damn good. Sense of speed is incredible and the sound is ear sexualing good, close to cock tingling! Did a quick post last night on M-7 http://modeseven.blogspot.com/

flameboy Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 Personally think cockpit view on this looks way above anything else...
Cube Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Personally think cockpit view on this looks way above anything else... I suppose it's something you have to play. The screenshots loook like you can only see 25% of the screen.
flameboy Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 You might like it. The graphics are very weak though. The early shots indicated something of much higher quality. Ingame you can see polys everywhere. The steering wheels arent rounded either. How up to spec is your PC?
Domstercool Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Pc demo is up. You havent played GT5P then, as thats where the cockpit angle has come from. Before that cockpit view were a visual gimmick such as in PGR or McRae. I have GT5P and I can say SHIFT does the experience much much better. Better sense of speed and feeling of actually being in a car seat.
flameboy Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 Well picked it up for PS3 today only £34 in ASDA, impulse buy thought what the hell...will report back later...
Domstercool Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 You can turn off the HUD in SHIFT, just click left on D-PAD twice. Ok just had one of the best racing experiences EVER. Do the ring with the Veyron in cockpit view, WOOOOOSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH

Foxfear Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Let me get to that. lol My next rental is Batman. Will get Shift after that next week now! Stuck with demo then. Shame on you for not getting Batman yet!!!
Goafer Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Got this yesterday after watching a few video reviews. After the crap previous few games, this one is actually surprisingly good. Handlings still a bit of a chore, but nowhere near as bad as previous NFS.

Anyway I'm really enjoying it, the cockpit view is immense and gives such a great sense of speed, who cares if its an exaggerated sense of speed thanks to the fish eye view and motion blur, at the end of the day I'm playing a racing game where I want to feel like I am driving the awesome cars, I don't wanna feel like I'm stuck in traffic pottering around Harrogate in my shitty gold Astra...

Nope he got it on 360, he doesnt really like the PS3 pad
Goafer Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Yup, what he said. I don't like the PS3 pad, especially for racing games.
Jimbob Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I picked this up on Friday, damn good game i believe. Got the extras with it including the Elite races and a BMW. I love its realism, i can best describe it as Forza meets PGR in terms of gameplay/control. If anyone fancies a few races, let us know.

I love its realism, i can best describe it as Forza meets PGR in terms of gameplay/control. If anyone fancies a few races, let us know. That is a good description. I think it benefits though from its Precision vs Aggression system over PGR's kudos system where high end progression relies on racing how the developers want you to race. Now you can do what you like with regards to tactics...go for the clean technical race or go for the dirty race. Loving online as well...played 6/7 races and won them all...love being aggressive then people get annoyed try to delivery some payback and come worse off...another race was in I started second on the grid and the 1st place person went and turned right straight to take me out, I just zoomed through and they missed me but ended up getting into a scrap with the other 2 drivers leaving me to pull away, I won the race by some 20 seconds whilst they were all within a second of each other...

That was a very quick description i came up with, but it makes more sence the more i play it. I was doing the Nurburing with a Verion (a challenge task in career). I found it challenging just to get a clean lap because the other computer drivers were dirty buggers.
Goafer Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) I'm loving this game more and more. Although the money does fly in once you get to the later races. My works tuned Elise (Pink is ace): Drift Slag BMW: Ye Olde Skyline (Works tuned): Evil Black Lambo Mucielago (Works tuned: Zonda (can't be modified, what a con): Scirocco (Works tuned): Edited September 22, 2009 by Goafer
