Reveal hidden contents I thought I would do a bit of exploring, so I started heading North West from Vegas, to my surprise, it wasn't just more wasteland, there was an entire mountain range back there with all sorts of trees and wildlife. Annoyingly, they have invisible walls around all the mountains, and while you can actually get passed the walls, its incredibly difficult to get down afterwards, as the walls work both ways. nope fingers crossed none here after about an hour and half worth of play.
Cube Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 It's very laggy around Camp McCarre area, and it's crashed once there. Other than that, it seems much less buggy than Fallout 3. Something I really love Reveal hidden contents How the story really opens up in the strip. There seem to be no end of missions, and there seems to be lots of choices. You have to be careful if you want the biggest force possible.

flameboy Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Well I love this even more than Fallout 3 its official! For me the setting takes it above and beyond it. The world feels richer. I loved how Fallout 3 had you create your character from birth but I feel if they did that again it would have fallen flat. So giving you a character who is clearly involved with something in New Vegas and has a history that you don't start completely aware of, makes for a very enticing story and so far everything has rolled out quite nicely through conversations and a bit of exploring. I defintely think the characters are much better characterized and organic feeling more like real people with real motives than in the Fallout 3 Also love the reputation system and despite it potentially being complicated with various conflicting factions and towns etc....it is much closer to the original fallout games system.

Managed to take them out as a level 3 or 4 character. As they started filing away, I lobbed a long fuse dynamite, then I lobbed out some standard dynamite. Finished the dogs and a few others with the incinerator. Sure it was tough but I only had to use one stimpak. No limb cripples somehow. Felt like a waste to cancel that save, but I don't want to end any quests in such a way.
Emasher Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Reveal hidden contents After looking around for the brotherhood for a few hours, and then finally giving up when I figured they probably didn't show up until late game, I came across a fenced in area. There was this weird mound in the middle with door on it. The door looked like it had been vandalized by hippies, it had all sorts of anti war stuff written on it. Thinking I had come across a colony of Hippies, I entered the bunker. There was nobody there, I opened the door to the next room, and it had been caved in. I left the bunker, but after walking to another part of the fenced in area, I found another. I walked in, and the door sealed behind me. I ducked behind a crate as the other door opened. I peered out, and was spotted instantly. It was the brotherhood. Basically, before I was allowed to leave, I had to kill an NCR ranger to prove my loyalty. If anyone gets stuck on this, I suggest sneaking up to him and putting a live grenade in his pocket, because he can kill in just a few hits. Anyway, after this point, you can buy some of the brotherhood equipment, including some really nice looking guns, but its incredibly expensive, we're talking thousands of caps for some of the stuff. There's a small errand you can run to get some free equipment, but it involves getting passed a giant radscorpion, so I'm not sure its worth it until late game. There are a few quests and other errands available, as with any other faction. Reveal hidden contents Basically settlement filled with friendly super mutants and nightkin up in the hills (Nice change in scenery from the rest of the game). Its a little bit tricky to get to though, as there are a few higher level enemies around the path to it. Once you get there though, there are a few easier quests that can give you some decent experience.

I think what's impressed me most (this probably applies to Hardcore mode more than anything) is the fact that food, drink, materials etc all have an actual purpose. Whether it's base items for a recipe or a gun it all has a part to play. Even scrap metal can be broken down for ammo. I must have walked past so scrap in Fallout 3 and gave it no further attention. Definitely recommend this mode for Fallout 3 vets. Still no word on my pre-order bonus

Reveal hidden contents I didn't have to do the part with the NCR Ranger - I had a certain companion with me, and they simply let me in because I was with her.

Blackberry Web Browser isn't that great and Opera Mobile is ok but not much better. Perhaps it will be sorted when they released Blackberry 6OS and it's new browser. Meh if being able to browse the forums and post works well and it says "posted from berryblab" is the only downside I can deal with that. Ok so both the mobile theme and iphone theme are awful on blackberry! The iphone one is too long length ways and doesn't use the width of the screen, so theres way too much scrolling down. Berryblab is designed great and works well. To be honest it's only N-Europe I use it for, every other forum I'm on has a useable mobile theme that I use.

It's just that whenever I see magnum ammo, shotgun slugs, and stimpaks, I have to steal them, and unlock safes and doors for xp. I guess it'll affect which companions will embrace you, but I don't mind about them too much for now, encumberment is just about manageable for now. This game is very agreeable.

Still no word on my pre-order bonus Actually scrap metal could be traded in to Walter in Megaton for 10 caps a piece scavenging for it was a pretty easy way to make money in Fallout 3. From what I can tell reputations are a lot more important than Karma, especially when you get a little bit further into the game. I tend to steal everything useful/valuable I see in the game too, but somehow I still have "Very Good" karma.

Unfortunately you can't use this to get duplicates of the two unique items he carries.

Anyway as for the game, i've pushed through the 'barrier' as I call it where I can actually kill things and explore with confidence. I guess Fallout 3 vets kinda get where i'm coming from, there's always a place or a point early on where you start actually being able to kill things get item hoards, etc. For the 3rd game it was Super Duper Mart for me. Although; Reveal hidden contents I have noticed I have a shit load of quests, around 7! Most of which I can't do due to lack of experience in Speech, Barter and the like. Others are simply in areas far away I haven't explored. Now this isn't a complaint at all, it's just i'm a completionist and having a load of quests I can't do is a little frustrating . Getting to Primm was a game changer for me, found a shit load of dynamite, blasted and sneak killed my way through. Upgraded my weapons so now raiders aren't much of an issue. Armed enemies are a pain as I have no Armor Piercing rounds. I still would like my own house, at the moment i'm squatting in a wrecked trailer in Goodsprings. All my shit is in a metal box so I don't know how safe that is. I'm also reluctant to sell all my NCR currency as i've got a few grand

Love the setting way more than the previous game, I love westerns and casinos (no gambling as such just the environment, my Dad's a casino manager) I love how the different clothing sets things up differently. First notable use was with: Reveal hidden contents Going to the correctional facility dressed as a Powder Ganger and you can get in but go dressed as NCR and they attack you. Anyway completed the task for that getting a new sheriff etc...they set me another task to deal with someone but I've decided I'm going to go off wandering.
