Yeah, seems crap to leave half of your audience without a game that is already available on another console, when you're going to give it them anyway.

Indeed, my guess is lots of money has been thrown there way.

Timed exclusive.

DELAYED

http://www.destructoid.com/bioshock-2-release-delayed-until-fiscal-2010-update--139656.phtml

Your holiday gaming line-up just got a bit less crowded -- Take-Two Interactive has announced that it's moved BioShock 2 from fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 to fiscal 2010. Read: probably next year.

Unsurprisingly, the publisher cites the need to provided "additional development time for the title," as well as its revised outlet for the the remainder of fiscal 2009, due to lower-than-expected performance.

"The decision to shift a release date is never an easy one, especially with a product as highly anticipated as BioShock 2," says Chief Executive Officer of Take-Two, Ben Feder. "We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve. As a result, we will now be launching sequels to several of our strongest franchises -- including BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption -- during the next fiscal year."

It should be noted that "fiscal 2010" for Take-Two starts in November, so there's a chance we could see BioShock 2 by year's end. But you know... any other big plans for this holiday?

[update: It's official -- BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3, and Red Dead Redemption -- will all see release in the "first half of calendar 2010," according to Feder in this afternoon's Take-Two financial update conference call.]

:(

No Bioshock or Mass Effect sequels this year ;-;

It gives me the time required to beat the original game now.

The Cult of Rapture site have an "Artist's Series" going on at the moment, where each week they appear to be revealing a peice of Bioshock 2 related artwork done by famous artists/animators/designers/etc. This week is a peice by Jhonen Vasquez. Here's the article, and pic:

I love it, his twisted style works so well with Bioshock!! But then, I am a big fan of Jhonen Vasquez!

Sorry about the double post, but this topic needs a serious bump with this new announcement.

Behold, the Special Edition of Bioshock 2...

http://www.2kgames.com/cultofrapture/bioshock2se.html

It's comes with:

- The game (natch :heh:)

- 3x Rapture themed posters (rolled)

- Original Bioshock orchestral OST on vinyl

- Bioshock 2 orchestral OST on CD

- 164 page hardback artbook

It's fucking beautiful! £70 for all three formats though, but I'm not complaining!

Actually, thinking about it, it's actually rather good value! After all a retailer would probably charge a lot for each item seperately. At a guesstimate they'd likely charge..

£5 per poster (3x = £15)

£15 for the book

£15 for the CD + Vinyl

£40 for the game

= £85 total

And that's not including the packaging! So it works out pretty well, I think.

Is that the typical HMV prices for individual items??

It's tempting, but I probably wouldn't do anything with it all (except for the game, obviously). It all looks lovely, though.

£5 per poster? There tiny!

Okay, so maybe £3-4 per poster? Bearing in mind that I find that most retailers overcharge for posters, plus this Special Edition is limited to one run.

Same here, but I'm a big fan of the original, plus it has a ton of collector's value! It looks too fantastic to turn down!

Aye, Mass Effect 2 and then this very shortly after! Good times. :)

I have only seen the collectors edition version on play.com, all the other major sites don't have it, unless ive missed one of course!

Wow that special edition actually looks alright for once. Normally I can't stand special editions of games but that looks very nice. Like someone else said, I don't think it's such bad value for £70.
