It's actually possible to get 120 stars on Sunshine?!

I gave up at around 117. I still have blue-coin related nightmares.

Yes, I'm very proud of my 120 Shine Sprites. :) It was very difficult, yes, but I actually did it back when I couldn't complete Metroid Prime (which I can now), so I always considered that harder.

New PS3 slim model with 120 GB to be relased first week in september. $299/€299 in US/Europe (no UK price announced, but probably £199 or £249). Maybe this will force Nintendo to do a price cut before Xmas?

Wii: 46.4m

X360: 26.6m

PS3: 20.8m

I dont think Nintendo will be worried about the PS3 slim.

I don't think Nintendo will cut the price just yet, especially with next year's line up. They'll release a black one before they drop the price. If anyone should be worried, its Microsoft. I think this holiday (depending on what MS says at their Gamescom press conference), in terms of sales it will be something like Wii > PS3 > 360. Worldwide anyway. The 360 will probably still beat the PS3 in America alone.

Yeah, if only Nintendo wasn't already leading in sales in Japan. Japanese people aren't poor they can get a PS3 if they want to already.

And, sure, the "fans" was what saved the Wii, in fact they saved Nintendo! Those "fans" that don't give a shit about Nintendo or their games and only complain no matter what.

Why the hell would fans want a price drop? Won't they already have a Wii? Isn't that kind of their whole set-up?

It's times like these when you can truly tell what a greedy bunch of bastards Nintendo are.

The store I work at has increased the selling price of the Wii, no doubt thanks to Nintendo increasing the trade price not so long ago. Was it really necessary? Surely having a console sell at say £150 and thus bring in more customers is a lot more beneficial than trying to rip off recession Britain even more. I can't comment on other store but imagine that it's a universal thing.

I've no idea what Ninty's direction is nowadays, at one point it was make a fuckload of casual (yet good) games and earn a licence to print money and now it seems to be a case of do nothing and hold onto their pennies as best they can.

I'm actually hoping that the PS3 gets more of a footing and starts putting a serious dent in Nintendo's lead - they've clearly become complacent motherfuckers because they "aren't competing with the others" which means that they can get away with releasing one game every other year and overcharging the consumer.

Monster Hunter 3 and a Black Wii just came out, and they're selling lot hot cakes. I doubt Nintendo will announce a price cut just yet in that region.

Yeah, Real Nice. :indeed:

Those numbers make my head hurt. With the last two years being ridiculously profitable for Nintendo, it does make me wonder what goes on in their board meetings. What are they going to do with that money? Surely now they can afford to be making, like, I dunno, 2 games a quarter instead of one?*

*Numbers exagerrated to incriminate the innocent

We've been selling Wii's at John lewis for £150 since before Christmas, though I'm guessing that's because we price match.

Just to put people in perspective. The game cube was released in 2002 at 250$, by 2006 it was at 99$, that's 150$ in 4 years. The PS3 was released in 2006 at 599$ and now nearly 4 years later its at 299$, 300$ difference.

And you know why? Because according to basic economic rules, shit that doesn't sell gets its price lowered. And last gen Sony were the "greedy" bastards and everyone here at cube-europe just kept saying "Why aren't people buying more gamecubes?!"

by not giving fans what they want I mean in terms of games....they aren't giving us the games we want.. they're completely relying on the casual.. but tha's so dangerous.. What happens when the casual goes after the next thing that's new and shiny?

It's like stating that the bible is real FACT

you just didn't like the word fact, otherwise what i'm saying in that sentence is true!

nevertheless the " fans" are the only people who bought a wii on launch day. Who the hell would anyone else.. the non-gamer was not interested yet and all the casual gamer(gta loving crowd at the time) were waiting for ps3 to be disappointed.

and a pricedrop will help the ps3... if not for the pricedrop japanese are suckers for NEW models like the slim... remember how much the ds lite shot up and even the dsi?

Space really is a premium in Japan. Smaller is definitely better. I'm not saying it's going to make all the difference but the size reduction and large drop in price has got to be tempting and with FFXIII round the corner it seems that, against a lot of odds, Sony seem to be well on the way to turning their luck around.

It definitely helps that this console generation is going to be a very long one. I would be surprised to see the next generation within the next 3 years. There's just no point in rushing, the lingering PS2 fanbase has shown this to a degree.

I won't be surprised to see Microsoft repackage, maybe a slim, 360 with Natal next year and I wouldn't be surprised to see in a few years time Sony release a PS3 Micro.

Obviously this is conjecture, only sales will tell.

Next year we're getting Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M, Possibly a new console Zelda, and Probably Pikmin 3. And they've still got their smaller titles like Monando, Dynamic Slash, Cosmic Walker, and Sin and Punishment 2. Not only that but we're also getting some rather nice looking 3rd party titles in the form of The Grinder, Red Steel 2, and Monster Hunter 3. I think 2010 could quite possibly be the Wii's hardcore comeback.

Lol, no it won't. Apart from Monster Hunter, Metroid and Mario, not at all. I mean, all those smaller titles you mentioned; we've no idea if they're going to be of any quality and S&P2 is the sequel to a game with a very small following (smaller than the amount of metroid fanatics).
