N64 week is officially at a close now.

However, it's memory will remain forever. It's been a pretty awesome week guys and girls. I've had fun, I hope you had fun, and the main site has seem some positive feedback.

Thank you all for making this possible.

But the main star of the show was TapeDeck. He kept things ticking with his constant posting and re-posting and then editing of information, and he made sure the information got put on the mainsite as quickly as possible.

Three cheers for TeeDee!

Hip-hip HOOORAY!

Hip-Hip HOOOORAY!

Hip-Hip HOOOORAY!

My N64 will still be out, and my appreciation will never end for that console. It's the love of my life.

I think MONUMENTAL kudos is in order for both TapeDeck AND Flinky for making this the huge success it's been.

Well done guys! And who knows? When we're all a few years wrinklier, maybe we'll see a Gamecube appreciation week.

Thanks for the appreciation Fierce/Prodigy etc... Final impressions and opinions are all up HERE!

And in the words of Mario: "Thank you so much for to playing (our) game!"

Its been a good week for remembering the N64, some pretty good games have been replayed and memories have come back as well. Good work guys, you deserve it. Happy gaming.

Moar stuff still goin up? I was gonna knock together a paragraph or two on a few games but thought I'd missed the boat- so I played Majora's Mask a bit more instead. :p

Good article... trying to think of anything you would have missed... don't suppose memory cards going in the controller counts? Likely not... they were only memory cards, lol. Err... the N64 innovated by remaining cartridge based, yeah!

You wrote that the N64 is unbreakable. Well, it's not. The analogue stick was probably the worst executed one throughout all of gaming history. And only for one simple reason: unlike all analogue sticks that came after it, and the Nights controller that came before it, the stick wore out. Pretty soon you start seeing a gray sort of dust at the base of the stick. Soon afterwards, the hole it sits in becomes deeper and deeper, until the stick becomes very unresponsive, and nearly useless. Also, during my years of N64 owning, the power adapter has gone bust twice. But yes, the console lasts much longer than most others.

The N64 analogue stick was fantastic.. certainly until it came difficult to play with due to becomming loose and 'gritty'. It was better than the PS1 sticks anyway.. I never liked those!

One thing that definitely did kill analogue sticks was the "rolling around in a circle" minigames on Mario Party.

The thing is that Nintendo never released an N64 pad with better sticks, inevitably meaning that in maybe 20 years, no controlers with intact sticks will be in existance, so games that won't be ported for VC (Perfect Dark, Goldeneye and the other great games from Rare) will be lost forever! Apart from crappy emulators with worthless controlls and more glitches than... the entire rest of existance put together.

Yea, unless no one plays Mario Party ever again :heh:

I wonder if they'll make an N64 shaped controller for Wii, like the white SNES ones that came out in Japan? Imagine if there were also N64 shaped ones easily available (ie. in the shops / to order online), as well as NES, Megadrive, PC Engine, Master System, etc.

That is what I have been desperately wanting!

If they were to do that, it would be fantastic if each one came with it's original connection (so you could use them on the console they were designed for) with a wee plug to put on the end to enable you to plug it into the Wii Remote aswell..

Anyway, I bought a couple of decent N64 controllers in the last year or so because the ones I got with it have been played with so much they are barely of use :heh: ..however, if I'm playing a game (such as Mario Party or Track and Field) where the controller is gonna get beat up, I stick in one of my old ones

Well, I bought a controller in like 2000, and it hasn't seen anything of MP or anything vaguely similar. Still the gray sandy dust starts coming.

If Nintendo would launch a N64-style controller, I'd hope it would have built in rumble and something that enables you to use it with the actual N64 (cordless N64 pad that doesen't become useless after a couple of years, YAY)
