Personally, its the same. I was a much bigger fanboy back then and was much more excited with the cube release, but I play my Wii as regularly as I did my cube.

Same..although i've slowly lost interest in gaming these last couple of months..i think it's the time of year!

Seeing as I didn't own a cube, I would have to say the wii. Backwards compatibility to enjoy anything i missed, virtual console, Mario Kart Wii (owns the hated [imo] Mario Kart Double Dash) massive new Zelda, a resi 4 that I completed on the PS2, traded in a short while ago, but has me wanting to buy it again, an amazing new pro evo that i have barely had time to play and has restored my faith in the franchise, and a ton more games that i have not had the money or time to buy and play yet. I only wanted a cube for smash bros anyways, the other titles on the cube seemed cool, but not enough to make me want the console like that game.

To me, the wii has so many killer apps, and because of its new direction, it makes me feel like I am buying into something more than just another console. Heck, it has my mum slightly interested in playing a game, and she was barely above thinking games were inspired by the devil :heh:

I had more games for the PS2 than for the GC. But I don't have many Wii games either. I don't really have much money to buy games. I got a lot of my PS2 games pre-owned quite a while after they were released. BYG&E for example. When it first came out there wasn't much advertising for it and I didn't really know what it was about. I debated getting it for ages and never did. Then ages afterwards I saw it for £12.99 pre-owned so I got it and loved it.

I love my Wii! :D

I think as I grow as a gamer I get more and more into games and so I play my Wii more now than I did my gamecube. I played Mario Kart for over 30 Hours in the first weekend I got it. :o

I never got excited about the Gamecube as I was too young to afford one at launch and got one months later off Ebay. Another thing about money is that I have more than I did when I was younger and so I'm able to afford games more regularly and so have a back catalogue of Wii games I have yet to complete like Zelda. :p Another factor is after the several years I had my GC I only ended up with 11 games, I have that many now in the Wii's life and that will collection will continue to grow.

This is a good thing as I rarely get bored with my Wii and feel like there is nothing to do on it. If I got bored with Playing the Wii games Then I could also play a VC game and now Wiiware which looks like it has a great line up.

Maybe because I'm stiil (kind of) young but I've never been so excited about gaming before and all my energy is going into my Wii! : peace:

At the moment i would probably say gamecube. Back then i only owned that console and i was very happy with it. Now however i have all 3 consoles. I felt i was not getting enough gamingnuss out of just my wii (i got that first out of the 3).

It's probably a mixture of alot of reasons but the other consoles do offer some fantastic games that just wont see the light of day on the wii anymore.

We've all gotten older, and games don't seem as great or new anymore. That's why I have amazing memories of N64 and PS1, less great memories of GCN, and even less great of the Wii. If you never played games before and were young, and played Zelda Twilight princess, you would possibly think that was great (like we did about OoT).

For instance, Smash Brawl doesn't seem anywhere near as great as smash/smash melee did, and I honestly think I'm growing out of certain types of games.

Actually I think that to appreciate the 3D zelda games the way us Nintendo fans do, you need to have played the 2D ones. Someone who has never played a zelda game before and then just plays TP isn't going to like it as much as they don't really understand the series as well. They expect something that zelda is not and then don't get it.

I thought the Wii would have more than what if has offered me. I've now bought a PS3 because it looks more promising software and graphics wise and there are games you can kind of get your teeth stuck into, whereas I think high score/skilful games are lacking on Wii.

The Gamecube I think was better than the Wii, no joke. There were some solid games on there, but things feel watered down on Wii, whether its difficulty or developer effort.

I think I was more impressed by the GameCube after I'd had it a year and a half. I had great games like Pikmin, Melee, Metroid Prime, The Wind Waker and F-Zero GX, and a few others that were pretty good too, like Sunshine and Starfox Adventures. After a year and a half with the Wii, there have still been some classics, like Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Galaxy, Mario Kart and Brawl, but in general, I've just not been as impressed, as they've all been a bit 'samey' compared to their Cube counterparts. Okay, some of them, like Galaxy, MK and Brawl are better than their GameCube versions, but they're just not the advancement from the previous gen as I'd have hoped. The Wii promised so much with its 'new ways to play', but the controller just isn't being used in the way I'd hoped. I really hope that a load of good games are revealed at E3.

Yes, the controller has way more potential than has been used. I think though that in the next year or so we will be seeing better and better games. In the last year we got: Metroid, Mario, Smash Bros., and Mario Kart. Imagine what we'll be getting this year.

Well, 'samey' goes for Cube too back in the days. I mean, SMS was a lot like SM64. Wind Waker was a lot like OOT, bar the art direction. Wave Race, 1080 and Mario Kart were a lot like their predecessor as well with added gimmick. And Melee was a souped-up Smash Brothers (though a VERY good one).

The only truly original efforts were Pikmin and Metroid Prime. Nostalgia can skew your (and mine) opinion. Im hopeful that we're still to see the best of Wii. Recent third party announcements seem promising, let's see how that pans out.

I love(d) both my Wii and GameCube. I've never really been let down by a Nintendo console.

It just so happens that I played Mario Kart the other week, and had my first game as a multiplayer between me and 3 other girls (my housemates). We all had a great laugh, and it was very un-fiddly. I hardly played that many multiplayer GC games with the opposite sex, because we spent a lot of time pratting about with the controls. It's definitely a lot easier these days to say "Hit B" than it was back then, as there's less dominating buttons.

I love my Wii. The only thing that has really changed is me, I now have less time to play games. Back then, I could have spent 12 hours playing Rogue Leader, or 8 playing Super Mario Sunshine. These days, I'm lucky if I even have 8 hours to myself!

But, at the same time, I'm in a different place than where I was back then. The opportunity to play party games, or to find someone who is willing to play those sorts of games with me, is much, much greater this time. If I stick on Guitar Hero 3, I'll have to join the back of the queue of my friends who will also want to play. These days, it's about having the time and enough remotes to play.

I agree, but this generation it feels worse as there is practically NO graphical improvement. The only title I feel couldn't have been done on the GC (in looks) is Galaxy and 'possibly' Metroid Prime 3. Without the elusive 1:1 motion controls and the "illusion" of controlling what happens on-screen, a LOT of titles coming to wii seem lacklustre even in comparison to the their GC forebears. We are also seeing LESS popular IP's due to the Wii not being on par with the 360/PS3 which means we feel we are missing out. Negatives.

But we do have titles like Z&W and Boom Blox and wiiware gems coming our way! Oh, but we are used to racers/shooters/RPG's...it's just not normal what wii are getting.

And so it continues...

At times Wii feels exactly like the GameCube yet with a different controller and some online modes tacked on. At times it feels worse as we miss the "level playing field" of all systems being on common ground and getting similar titles. The last gen will never happen again and for good reason. You woud think it would have brought gamers closer yet I really think it created MORE arguing.

For me, I would say that I like my Wii much more than Gamecube. When I first got Gamecube, I was arguably more excited about it, mainly because of Smash Bros, which was released only a few weeks after. However, that and a few other rare gems (Star Wars: Clone Wars for example - which I thought was underrated) only kept me interested in the Cube for so long. I personally thought Gamecube was the most disappointing Nintendo home console ever released, mainly because whereas the N64 had offered a ton of new stuff, Gamecube was technically the same thing but with better graphics and even then I'd argue that the majority of Gamecube games were nowhere near as good as most of the N64 library. Smash Bros 64 was my favourite N64 game which I'd played more than 1500 hours of. That's more than I actually used my Gamecube altogether! I ended up investing in an Xbox which was bought a good two years after and was still played much more!

Wii however has had some awesome titles already appear and the whole concept/functionality of it suits me. I've got a (currently somewhat limited) library of retro games I can enjoy without having to have all consoles hooked up and the new games actually contain some innovation (Mario Galaxy). Channels offer some added features I can have fun with and I've got online, which yes is still inferior to even the old Xbox Live service for the original console but at least it's possible. I suppose the real point here is just the fact that the games are actually fun!

So in short, my Wii has already seen more action that my Gamecube ever did! I'd probably have to wait another year or so to see if is better than my all time favourite, the N64 (the most heavenly invention in the world in my opinion) but I imagine it most probably will.
