Rock Band

Before getting too excited, I read an article that said pre-release screens for Rock Band had Welcome to the Jungle in them, which we all know didn't make the final game.

While the screen shot is positive, it doesn't mean it will be there.

That was because the first ever video of Rockband had the Harmonix testers playing welcome to the jungle, with the Guitar Hero 2 controllers.

I managed to play this on the 360 with some mates. We had 2 guitars (one was the guitar hero guitar), the drums and a microphone.

It was fun, had a great time. I think I do much prefer the guitar hero guitar. It seems more user friendly to me, and it seems a hell of a lot easier to feel the buttons, which helped me a lot in trickier songs.

There's some good songs in the game though, and I was pleased to see Cherub Rock was in there (as it is in GH3), so we had the whole band rocking to it.

Hey Everybody,

Coming at you a day early with the announce as we are closing the office tomorrow and celebrating our independence from something or other (something about a tea party in there too). What do we have for you? How about two tracks from the Red Hot Chili Peppers? That not good enough for you? How about two songs by the one band most people seem to be able to agree upon, Rush? What if I told you they were both masters? Yes, one of the songs is "Working Man" which we have put out as a DLC cover a few months back. This version (the Vault Edition), however, is an alternate-take master from the same session they recorded the hit with an alternate solo. It has never been released. Some days it is really amazing to have this job. Seriously.

Release Date

Tuesday, July 8th (Xbox 360 Marketplace)

Thursday, July 10th (Playstation Store)

TRACKS

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow (Hey Oh)

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Tell Me Baby

Rush - Closer to the Heart

Rush - Working Man (Vault Edition) alternate-take master

All tracks are masters

PRICE:

All tracks are $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points).

not the RHCP tracks I would have picked but oh well :p

If you stick with the Rock Band guitar for a bit you may just find yourself converted.

Quick question:

Which guitars (both rockband and GH) have USB connections? - Anyone know the best place to buy them too?

I'm playing GH3 on the PC and would like to pick up a guitar as I got (just) the game for a tenner at a carboot. If I can get any guitar it would be better - obviously.

I presume any USB one will work but unsure. Ta. Maybe a wireless one would work with a dongle of some kind?

Aint. Gotta. Clue.

One thing I don't like about this game is the amount of times "Run to the Hills" pops up in the Setlists in Band World Tour.

We'll just be scrolling down, checking the setlist, going "Ah, this looks like a good setlist." then Run to the Hills pops up last, "Oh, fuck off!" we would then yell.

You could put it down to it being the hardest song on both Guitar and Drums (we're both playing it on Expert), or you could put it down to the fact that my bandmate & I absolutely fucking hate this song, and don't understand why so many people like Iron bastard Maiden. It pops up far too many times that we leave so many setlists undone, and we can't be bothered to do them.

We had the same problem with setlists having "Celebrity Skin" in them, but at least Celebrity Skin is a piece of piss.

At least Enter Sandman is fun to play, and I hated that song before. And I don't even like Metallica.

I just hope that Rock Band 2 doesn't have the same bloody mistake as this one. I would wager there being another Iron Maiden track on RB2, seeing as every bugger likes them, but hopefully it won't pop up that often in BWT.

Aerosmith! That's another buggery band I hate.

What do I like? Out of those with songs on Rock Band: Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, QOTSA, Radiohead, Blue Oyster Cult, Nine Inch Nails, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Hives, Muse, David Bowie, Pixies, Coheed and Cambria, and a little bit of Boston, The Who and Deep Purple.
