MoogleViper Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Rokhed wasn't it you that said 300 was just violence for the sake of it? Or am I thinking of someone else?
rokhed00 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Rokhed wasn't it you that said 300 was just violence for the sake of it? Or am I thinking of someone else? Definitely not me, never even seen it.
MoogleViper Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Definitely not me, never even seen it. Must have been somebody else then.
Paj! Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Anyone who finds Alien boring must be missing something vital from their ability to perceive art in motion. Or something like that.
MoogleViper Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 COme on guys can we stop all of this arrogance. Just because somebody doesn't like something it doesn't mean that they have no taste or cannot appreciate certain things. The ones claiming people's ignorance are the ones who are ignorant themselves.
Konfucius Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I think they should just make a new Predator film, tbh. It seems to be heading that way. Make it brutal. Well going by what Predator 2 was I'm a bit sceptical about the outcome of a third movie. What I'd like to see though, if they're going to make another AvP would be that they actually leave all the humans out and show everything from the Predators side and make them the main actors. Their talking would have to be subtitled of course but I wouldn't mind that. The cinematography of course would have to be pretty good to compensate for the lack of human actors I think. Or place the whole thing in the future like the games.

That's true. They can't appreciate Alien. They don't have to think it's one of the greatest films of it's genre ever (as I do), but still.

Paj! Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 That post wasn't said in a certain tone, which should be evident by the fact I said "Or something like that" afterwards.
Konfucius Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 What was wrong with Predator 2? I thought it was pretty damn awesome. There was a distinct lack of Arnie I don't know but somehow it didn't live up to the first film for me. I think it was because the first was very straight forward and I liked the jungle setting a lot better.
Kav Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Anyone read the AVP book? It's amazing, really really amazing! There were discussions to make the book into a film but the studios decided against it as a result of Terminator 2 being suggested (yes it dates that far back). I've got the book and graphic novel version too and believe me, if either of the AVP films were based on it they'd be amazing and live up to the Alien and Predator name! The main character in the book is a Miss Yutani (although a younger one from the one seen in AVP 2). It's set in the period the Alien films take place, the general plot is that the Predators capture queen aliens and have them continually laying eggs on ships. These ships are then sent to designated planets where vehicles from the ships disperse the eggs around the planet. After a short while the aliens start to form a colony and the Predators go to the planets to hunt and claim their trophies! Now the planet in the book has recently been colonised by humans (the Weyland-Yutani corp.) and so that's how they get thrown into the mix! Anyhoo, if there's any chance of a film being like the book, I'm willing to have had them f**k up these 2 movies so that it's made! It really is that good... oh, and the Predators are totally bad-ass in the book! Not like the wusses we've seen in these 2 films and the 2nd Predator movie! Oh and I definitely recommend you get the book, it's an awesome read, I found it in a WH Smith!
The Bard Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 What was wrong with Predator 2? I thought it was pretty damn awesome. There was no Arnie. A flaw in any film, but especially Predator. Anyway AVP2 was highfuckinlarious. Story was pretty laughable, but the way the Alien/Predator whatever it was laid those eggs, pornstar style in those women was just the funniest thing I've ever seen. I don't remember the ending, was too drunk.
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Predator 1 isn't that great either... The predator as a creature isn't that imaginative as well...
Dan_Dare Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 shit you not- i had a dream about this film last night. I think it was a message from The Big G warning me that I should avoid it like the plague and go see Cloverfield and Control instead.
The Bard Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 You haven't seen control yet? Unbelievable dude, gtfo and see it, like, now. Fave film of last year...
Dan_Dare Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I know, I know. Hull is a cultural wasteland though and it's not been on it's finally turned up apparently so it's a must see for me.
Cube Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 warning me that I should avoid it like the plague and go see Cloverfield and Control instead. Control???
Paj! Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I haven't read AVP except for the special excerpt you get to "read" on the AVP DVD second disc. I bought the Aliens omnibus vol1. though. It's cool to think of the expanded universe, though the comic setting kinda lacks the appeal of the films.
