Esequiel Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I love my Wii, its fun to play and makes me smile. I have Mario 3, Zelda (NES original) and Mario 64 on the VC. Mario and zelda work fine with the normal wireless WiiMote, and mario.... works.... with the classic controller. My question is, would you buy a novelty controller. Like a Wii version of the N64 controller, they could make it wireless and it could be used for the old N64 games. It wouldnt have to be coloured or anything just have it white like the Wii and priced at £14.99 or cheaper. They could do the same with Snes, Nes & Megadrive controllers. Maybe a package where you get 2000 Wii Points and a controller for £25. Would you buy them? Would it be too many controllers? I personally would love a snes and N64 controller. Mario 64 just does not feel the same on the classic. Or could they release a converter to make them work... Ideas anyone?

I think that Nintendo should make a more ergonomic version of the Retro Controller. As it is now, it's practically a Snes controller with a home button and two analogue sticks strapped on.
AshMat Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 How does the classic controller feel? I always thought it looked quite uncomfortable.
Cube Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I would love "new" versions of old cotrollers (so better analogue sticks and buttons and the like) in Wii White. I don't think I'd buy exact copies of the retro controllers.
Esequiel Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 I actually wouldnt mind either. If Nintendo made a range of new Wii controllers that would be great, but looking around the internet there are a few places that already offer a USB converter to play with NES and SNES controllers. One guy even modded his snes controller to be wireless for the Wii! http://www.ppl-pilot.com/snes_asm.htm http://www.retrousb.com/index.php

Wish I had the perseverance to do things like that
Esequiel Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Whats Mario 64 and Zelda OoT like with the cube controller? Mario with the Classic is ok, but it really suffers from lack of rumble Shame theres nothing to sort that out really, and the camera is a little stiffer than i remember it.
Gizmo Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I wouldn't mind an N64 controller, that would be pretty cool if they sorted out the control stick so it doesnt blister your fingers in games like Mario Party.

Mario 64 is great with the Cube controller. As is OoT (well, it is on the Collector's Edition).

Im surprised nobody has tried it.. A wirless n64 controller especially. I'm sure some people(not me i hate the n64 controller ) would kill for that.
Link83 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Mario never had rumble. Well, except for Super Mario 64 Shindou Edition:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_64#Sequels_and_remakes Only released in Japan though, but I cant see why they couldnt make the virtual console version include the programming code from the Shindou version for rumble support.
Esequiel Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Proves how long it is since you have played the original when your imaganing things like rumble >.> Was it... Lylat Wars 64 that had the first rumble feature... Like £70 with the rumble pack
nekunando Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I thought about this when the VC was first announced and, honestly, if there was a NES, SNES, N64 and even a new GC pad (all using the Wii style in white and with improved control sticks on the N64 Pad) then I would probably end up having the lot.. would be really cool. As it is, I actually prefer to own a game on the original system as opposed to downloading it on the VC at the moment.. one of the main reasons being I'm playing it with the controller it was 'made' for.. and I love the retro feeling
blender Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 the N64 controller was awful. it was the first analogue stick but it basically gave you thumb cramps and because golden eye was so addictive, i had to play with my nose instead. so i in principle retro controlers are nice but not the n64. I still think they should make a virtual boy peripheral
Zechs Merquise Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Possibly, I'd prefer it if they just made the classic controller compatible with Gamecube games!
