Slaggis Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 what am i supposed to do with 15 or so files with the extensions .r00 .r01. r02 etc etc please help its been bugging me for a while Winrar. Download it and extract one of the files, (i.e r00) and then you will have the thing you wanted.
Mr_Odwin Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Use 7z. It's freeware and can open files created by winrar, which is not freeware.

True, but I downloaded it and it seems as though, other than a message when extracting saying buy the full version, there's no restrictions on extracting things.
Sanchez Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I also recommend ExtractNow, great little utility with no bloat and it's super fast. Only disadvantage is that it doesn't make archives.
Shorty Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 split rar files are the fastest way to share something by torrent, but why is it necessarily warez, sheesh
Sanchez Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Actually hash checking built into torrents made splitting rars basically pointless.
AshMat Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Winrar only makes you try and pay if you wanna browse the zipped folders. Selecting and extractingt hem all is free forever. Also WAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZ
Twozzok Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Actually hash checking built into torrents made splitting rars basically pointless. I hate having to keep what is esentially an extra copy of what I downloaded if I went to help seed my linux distro's
Mr_Odwin Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I thought rar splitting was a product of newsgroups. Just most people download from there and then upload torrents without bothering to unrar first.
RoadKill Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 While you're at it, torrent yourself a nice corporate copy of WinRAR.
Wesley Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 http://www.subdemon.com/forum/index.php?topic=869.0 This might help you.
McPhee Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 While you're at it, torrent yourself a nice corporate copy of WinRAR. Can't, some idiot RARed the installer :p (actually had something similar happen before!)
AshMat Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Question, what makes rars any different to zips?
Mr_Odwin Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Question, what makes rars any different to zips? Different algorithms/techniques used to compress the data.
Mr_Odwin Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 They are generally smaller. 7z is comparable to rar.
ReZourceman Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 So apart from illegal hax what does "Warez?!" actually...like mean?
McPhee Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 It's a dodgy abbreviation of Software used to describe software that is obtained illegally
