Dante Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Winning Eleven Wii Chris Kohler Feedback 12:00 -- Time to talk about the Wii version, the "new challenge." They show the first screenshots of the Winning Eleven game for Wii. "The new game and the conventional game is merged," he says. No real details about how it'll work, but the screen will have large circles and big arrows around the players, showing where the ball will go. The camera viewpoint seems in some cases to be set behind the backs of the players you're controlling. They hope to tell us more about this game this winter. Global launch in the spring of 2008. 1UP Feedback 12:02: Shane: It comes out globally in spring 2008. The gameplay is meant to be more 'off the ball,' whatever that means. 12:01: Mark: He's talking about how the Wii is a chance to do something completely new with the series. They intentionally put someone new in charge of the Wii version to make sure it was something new. Ah, here are the screens. Looks....ok, PS2-ish, I guess? Shane: Actually, I think it looks really good for Wii. Because the ps3/360 ones don't look to hot, this really isn't that different at first glance...not as hi-rez. 11:58: Shane: Whoa, in Winning Eleven you can now pull on other guys' jerseys. That's cool. Mark: Is it? I'll take your word for it, I'm not much of a soccer fan. Graphics do look pretty good in these 360 screens though, the character customization system especially. Shane: Though the characters still look kind of stylized. Ah, it's coming to America in spring... Mark: Now on to the Wii. Here's hoping they use the Mii's!
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Would it not be cool to let the Wiimote pointer decide the balls direction huh?
mariosmentor Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I just hope they don't throw in mario as a "Wii Exclusive Bonus" :P
Noku Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 looks like the PS2 game visually!! Nope. Looks crisper. Also keep in mind, these aren't screenshots. Does anyone have more intel on whether or not the "World Soccer" part of the title implies that national league teams won't be included in this version?
Mikey Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 looks like the PS2 game visually!! Looks better I reckon. I just hope they get rid of the disgusting looking crowd, and up the player textures from PES6.
nekunando Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 It's looking nice.. in a surprising way. I wasn't expecting to see all these circles and arrows on the screen.. I'm kinda hoping they're just for show at the moment.. I still worry that this is somehow going to be toned down to 'suit the Wii demographic', but the proof of the pudding (as has always been the case with Pro Evo) is in the playing.. Looking forward to seeing more
khilafah Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Nope. Looks crisper. Also keep in mind, these aren't screenshots. Does anyone have more intel on whether or not the "World Soccer" part of the title implies that national league teams won't be included in this version? they are always called World Soccer Winning Eleven. It is the Winning Eleven J-League games that do not have national sides.
flameboy Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Looks ok to me. will have to see how it works controls wise. FIFA looks to have its way of working and thats how EA think it will work. I'm gonna get FIFA if it really sucks and this is better a trade in could be on the cards...
Falcon_BlizZACK Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Wow, look at the stadium on the last pic! Great stuff.
Mucky.Fingers Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Finally! I can already see the late nights/early mornings playing this with a few mates and several beers!!
IMJ Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 I have a feeling this title will not be what everyone's thinking. Im thinking about some point and click mechanism, seeing as there are so many indicators on screen. You move with nunchuk's control stick. To pass in a certain direction, you point at the screen, press A and it will pass that way. B will shoot and Z and C will be used for long passes etc. The through will have to be done manually through the new mechanism. Let's hope whatever they do, it's worthy of the name Winning Eleven.
K-project Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 I'll certainly get this alongside FIFA, but what a crazy release date. The season will be practically over by then. You get the feeling that Konami had no intentions of doing anything for Nintendo at all, then the Wii took off and they simply had to do something. I have a sneaky feeling this actually won't be very good, but I hope I'm wrong. A look at those screens to me looks much like FIFA on Wii: graphically much like the old Xbox games. Just please get the gameplay right here Konami.
Zechs Merquise Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 I've never been a footy game fan, other than ISS on the 64, but I'm pleased Konami have been forced to make this and I sincerely hope it sells better than the other next gen versions. Hopefully this will wake up a few other producers.
