Zechs Merquise
We shall see. Indeed we shall NSMB Does no way count.1. It's on a handheld 2. It's not the awesome console 3d platformer. It's nowt like Sunshine or SM64 Well, even if you count the last two home console Mario games, Sunshine and Mario 64, their combined sales total beats that of the combined sales total of Halo and Halo 2. Hence, as I said earlier - don't write off the plumber! Note, I haven't said that Mario is gonna own Halo or anything, just that I wouldn't write Mario off in sales terms just yet... Caris
You realize that when you have compared Mario and Halo in the past your including Japan (at least that's what i'm thinking). If that's the case Mario will win, but if it's USA and Europe think different.

If that's the case Mario will win, but if it's USA and Europe think different. Now that's just being ridiculous, when you take total sales of a game you take in all territories, you can't just pick the ones that a certain game may sell better in to prove a point. It's like saying PS3 is beating the 360 because you're choosing not to include the US and European markets. When you look at sales totals they're from worldwide sales, end of. Both Halo's sales and Mario's sales will both be judged on a worldwide level, as are the sales for the consoles themselves.

Ultimately you're the one who looks stupid, cause you're spending the time to read and reply to people discussing something you don't care about. It'd be like me going on a gardening forum, and saying they suck cause they're talking about lily's. Move along now, no one cares what you think . Anyway, I don't see how you can discount the handheld sales. It still shows the Mario License's ability to sell games, and that at the moment Mario is far more on the way up then the way down. Do you honestly think the 11 million NSMB's owners arn't looking at Galaxy and wanting it? I'm sure a good majority are.

I'm not buying a PS3, and i'm sure many others won't either. I'm not even talking USA though, i'm talking Europe. You know where we live. They have UK charts for a reason. No, you're back peddling. It's a well known fact that when we talk about sales of a game we're quoting worldwide figures. When people say Halo has sold 'X' million copies they are talking about total sales. Otherwise you can twist any data by simply quoting figures from where ever they seem to suit your argument best. It's like saying the PS3 is outselling the 360. It does in Japan, but not when take the figures as a totality.
The Lillster
Most of my friends like all of the consoles, maybe not equally, but we don't really have these stupid sales arguments. In europe and americas I'm sure Halo+Halo 2 sold VERY well, even compared to mario. Also, i've been reading some of the previous pages and some of the fanboys on this site really just make so much shit up. The funniest ones are definately the ones that say 'omfg 360 sucks so much, Wii is the best. 360 and ps3 have NO gameplay' (well words to that effect). Also, Mario doesn't NEED to shift any more Wii's, they will sell anyway! And I dispute Halo appeals to a broader audience than Mario. Who gives a shit which sells more? Which is the better game, now theres an argument........ PS Clearly Mario Galaxy
AshMat
Oh fuck the japanese figures. They're stuck up pricks, who won't buy the xbox because it's amde by Americans. I reckon in Europe and America i think Halo 3 could beat Mario galaxy.

I reckon in Europe and America i think Halo 3 could beat Mario galaxy. Perhaps if the Xbox wasn't a console clearly catered to the American market with a range of games that are traiditonally unpopular in Japan and have never been accetped by them - namely first person shooters, action shooters, third person shooters blah blah. Yeah, it does have other games, but even these arn't particually popular in Japan. They're trying to expand into it a bit, with stuff like Blue Dragon, Trusty Bell, Lost Oddysey etc, but 3 RPG's really isn't going to cut it in Japan where to conquer the market you need to be hitting out big name games every 3 weeks or so to keep momentum, it's how it's always gone in the Japan, and Nintendo are doing it best at the moment. Japan isn't being arrogant, it does respond in sales when the rare ocation of a game with appeal to them is released, just the 360 is clearly a console catering for American tastes. Falcon_BlizZACK
I couldn't care less about what sells in Japan, and I couldn't care less about sales either TBH (God knows why we're debating this). Back to the original point: Wii sells well, but third parties aren't putting any effort into their games. To paraphrase Ubisoft, they're quite happy to put out rushed titles and ports on the Wii, because it provides more funding for Xbox 360 and PS3 titles. That attitude is the Wii's problem. I agree. I even think this trend will continue even after Wii has proved itself as the No.1 selling console, and 50/50 its because of the Wii-remote. Its the waggle thats the main selling point of current Wii games. Honestly, I don't see what Nintendo can do about this.
dazzybee
Japan are stuck up pricks because they dont buy the 360?! That is hilarious. Was Europe stuck up pricks because they didnt like the Gamecube or doesn't that align with your way of thinking so that's okay? A nice, small minded viewpoint you have there! And Halo can beat Mario in the terrortoties you choose? Isn't that like saying I bet you any money that Kororpinpa can wipe the floor with GTA4 down my street!! An exageration maybe but one that highlights a point

I think it'll still happen to an extent, I mean, some companies just don't want to support the Wii for whatever reason, and there's no doubt we're going to get an influx of utter **** just from the fact it's selling so well (a la DS and PS2). Saying that, it's not going to be anything like GameCube was, cause well, alot of publishers simply can't ignore the best selling console, and alot of developers won't see the Wii Remote as an obstical but as a tool to create something unique. I'm already seeing alot of Wii games from third parties I want, and alot of these are the sorts of things GameCube just didn't see. Lest we not forget alot of the smaller, low key developers are going to be exclusive to the Wii and DS this generation, as not everyone can afford the $20 million+ dev costs of the 360 and PS3. I'm looking forward to seeing all these developers pop up with awesome looking random games that surprise people, stuff like Trauma Centre and Mercury Meltdown. It's hyped to the absolute maximum, and there's probably not that much better on the 360 to play. Not saying I dislike the 360, just Halo is probably the best series on it (at least until Resi and GTA come along).
