Ramar Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Man Rangers are so dreary to watch. Defend, defend, defend, defend, defend, long ball to fast striker! defend, defend, defend. Yeah I watched the first half, me and my brother resorted to making random jokes about the Arsenal board to entertain ourselves.
kyletherobot Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 As long as they get the job done thats all that matters. Nacho Novo is going to grab the winner in the 83rd minute.
Noodleman Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Guardian sum the first half up here really: 22 min: Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... hack! Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... hoof! Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... hack! 26 min: Ineffectual Zenit probing ... Ineffectual Zenit probing ... Ineffectual Zenit probing ... Ineffectual Zenit probing ... Ineffectual Zenit probing ... hack hoof bosh!
tapedeck Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 And Zenit! Oh, they've scored. Can't see Rangers doing anything here...
Gizmo Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Best team in the competition won it. You could see that Rangers had nothing once Zenit scored, they paniced and all they had was to throw on 3 more strikers.
Roostophe Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 All I can say is: LOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL! Not because I'm a Celtic supporter, but because of how Rangers played throughout the entire bleeding tournament. They got to final by sheer luck. Like Middlesbrough back in 2006, only much less entertaining.
Eddage Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 The main news tonight is that in the real big game Hull beat Watford 4-1 so will play Bristol City in the Championship Play-off final. So next season will see two new teams to the Premiership and the possibility of Derby's record not lasting very long! Hopefully information about tickets will be revealed soon and I'll be able to nab some and enjoy seeing Bristol City win promotion!
kyletherobot Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Gutted for Rangers, you can't really play like that against a team with the quality that Zenit have. Like the commentators said, I'll be looking forward to seeing Zenit in the Champions League next season, they should fare quite well.

They play the most dreary football.

I always like it when a new team gets promoted to the Premier League.
Charlie Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Best team won tonight (UEFA Cup). Zenit deserved to be in the final, Rangers didn't. They had played boring football throughout the whole tournament, getting lucky in the 2nd legs every single time. Well done, Zenit. Thoroughly deserved.
gmac Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I'm so happy, now just need their house of cards to finish collapsing so we can get our 3 in a row
canand Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I can't waiit till next Wednesday. I hope Manchester United win the Cup.
khilafah Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 when celtc beat inter milan in 1967 to win the European Cup it was a victory for football. Last night was the same! European finals do not come along often. You cant play that defensive style.. Why has no english club gone for Advocatt? His record is excellent..
flameboy Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 My FA Cup Final pompey shirt turned up yesterday cannot wait!

Because Zenith Petersburg pay Advocaat a vast sum of money and the compensation required to get him would be stupidly big.
khilafah Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Because Zenith Petersburg pay Advocaat a vast sum of money and the compensation required to get him would be stupidly big. Yeah but even before he went Zenit nobody has ever really mentioned his name.
flameboy Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 its the same reason gus hiddink has remained with russia so long, all the oil tycoons etc...who bankroll their teams and fa pour stupid amounts of money into the football over there.
Gizmo Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Tommy Burns has died at 51 from cancer. WAY too young. RIP. And this is why Celtic Fans > Rangers Fans http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7402354.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/3189853.stm
Charlie Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/7402185.stm A very touching interview from Gordon Strachan about Tommy Burns there. RIP Tommy Burns, a true Celtic legend.

RIP Tommy Burns, a true Celtic legend. Tommy is a legend. Real Celtic man! great manager and very unlucky not to have won the title. I remember the 1995/1996 season where his celtic team only lost one game but they still never won the league. The football was fantastic!! pics taken from celtic park earlier. taken from kerrydale street forum
gmac Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Gordon Strachan looks absolutely heartbroken in that picture
Charlie Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Gordon Strachan looks absolutely heartbroken in that picture Yeah, he was practically crying all the way through the interview in the article I posted.
