nekunando Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 ..what's happening? Will we hear things tomorrow or have I got the wrong end of the stick here? I was beginning to think next week aswell, but then earlier I thought we won't here anything until the july magazines come out? What is happening?
Stickman Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 When you put it in the fact that there could be a new Metroid trailer, thats like a lifetime X_X
Ren of Heavens Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 but someone has broken it: http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/05/nintendo_media_.html edit: nah, nothing new here.
flameboy Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Huh,where you guys getting all this? I've been held up in tourney thread and havn't had time to check sites. its come from the ign boards via neogaf... so, according to some IGN news editors in the IGN Wii boards, everything at the Nintendo media event is under embargo until Nintendo decides to spill the beans. So for now, don't expect any news today or within the next few days. If there will be news, be pleasently surprised, but that's all.
Stickman Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 but someone has broken it: http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/05/nintendo_media_.html edit: nah, nothing new here. That might just be the non-embargoed stuff How long must me wait Nintendo!?
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Well IGN cannot know when Nintendo decides to lift the embargo can they? And why would Nintendo wanna hold back information any longer? Does it matter if its released tomorrow or today?
Dante Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 That might just be the non-embargoed stuff How long must me wait Nintendo!? When the new E3 starts?
Stickman Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 As long as it is either today or tommorow morning, i'm fine, but if nintendo go all tight lipped till july...and the media knows it all, i'll be quite annoyed
flameboy Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 When the new E3 starts? which is what I said before...(ok I got E for All mixed up with it but the point I made remains...)
gaggle64 Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 "Hey everyone, check out all this awesome game crap we got going on here! But don't tell anyone. Not a soul. Shhhhhhhhh."
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 This is Ninsense. At E3 they will be fighting for attention with everyone else.
Tellyn Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime kicked off the company's media summit here in Seattle this morning with a speech that ran down the company's successes with Wii and DS in 2007 thus far. "How are you guys doing? I'm doin' great," he began. Since this is the first major address that Nintendo has made to the assembled press since Wii's success, there was a lot for him to be happy about. He began by pointing out that in the history of video games in the US, only one company has ever been the #1 manufacturer of game hardware, portables, software, and the owner of the most popular game, and that was Nintendo in the 1980's -- and now they've done it again. Some interesting facts, figures, and quotes after the jump. In Japan, more than half of all games sold were for Nintendo DS. Typically, about half of home consoles in Japan are placed in the living room -- with Wii that figure is 75%. In France, 15 of the top 15 games recently were Nintendo. In the US, Fils-Aime says they are seeing "early signs of significant market change." The number of female purchasers of hardware are up 42%. The number of people over age of 30 purchasing Nintendo DS is up 127%. Tighten that age range to people over 35, and the number is up 212#. 40% of Wii owners have connected to the internet. 3.3 million plus Virtual Console downloads. Nintendogs has been in the Top 25 games in the US for the 21 months since its launch. Brain Age is showing similar "legs." = top 25 for 21+ months "Games that appeal to a wider audience can stay on best seller lists indefinitely," says Fils-Aime. They are seeing a "change in the perennial post-holiday time period. Everyone knows that more than half of our revenues are generated in November and December, and software sales go in the doldrums in the next quarter after the holidays." "We believe that as the market widens we shouldn't be so dependent on the holidays," Fils-Aime says. For the last two Christmas seasons, sales of Nintendo DS in the three months after the holidays have been 35% of holiday sales. But this year, it's at 49% -- "and that's with DS being essentially out of stock in January," said Fils-Aime. "We don't consider Sony and Microsoft as our only competitors. We're competing with other leisure time entertainment. If people stay at home and play wii bowling instead of going to the movies, we win." "We're not for one group or the other -- we're for the expanded audience and the core. It's difficult when you launch a stellar game to differentiate between the two." Third party development is "moving enthusiastically towards Wii." Third parties have sold more Wii games than Nintendo, "contrary to popular belief." Metroid Prime 3 Corruption "will reinvent the control scheme for a first person shooter. It's the closest you can get to PC control in a [console] game." 10101010101010
Stickman Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 If only i could turn back time and get Nintendo to invite me...hrrmmmm... *Builds time machine*
Owen Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 So we should expect info sometime this week? Fingers crossed it's tomorrow.
Owen Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 It's supposadely definately happening, but no-one is allowed to say anything until Nintendo allow it or something... I'm so confused. Well i'm just going to go to bed, go a work then come on here and see if anythings happened.
Stickman Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I'll stay up as long as i can tonight to see if it comes, then give up and come back tommorow morning, and if not then, i'll drown myself in orange juice
ShadowV7 Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 i'll drown myself in orange juice Don't,orange juice is Satans Beer!
Stickman Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Satan drinks good beer! *Drools* I'll drown myself in syrup then! If someone at the event could just slip a little metroid through the bars that'd be great :P
flameboy Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Well I've read on quite a few sites/forums now...that a lot of people think it will just be a couple of days, its to try and create a level playing field so no one site will seemingly have an exclusive simply because they rushed out the articles, rather this way everyone can truly give the games justice by writing up decent reports... or there is the other view that it's all being held off till E3...
Cube Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Well I've read on quite a few sites/forums now...that a lot of people think it will just be a couple of days, its to try and create a level playing field so no one site will seemingly have an exclusive simply because they rushed out the articles, rather this way everyone can truly give the games justice by writing up decent reports... Makes sence. Can't they tell us when the NDA is over, though? Or is that hidden behind the NDA?
flameboy Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Makes sence. Can't they tell us when the NDA is over, though? Or is that hidden behind the NDA? Yeah likely I'd say, the NDA would likely mean nothing can be revealed at all even such dates...
ShadowV7 Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Wow, that was a big pile of nothing. Awesome isn't it.Though that magic feeling is wearing off,it's like we have it so often it's not so special anymore:heh:
