pedrocasilva Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 That would be unthinkable! Sad time we live in...Disaster day of Crisis and Hammer May Cry are new IP's (just as Excite Truck, Wii Sports, Wii Health and Music are), and I think there are more coming; for example we bought Monolith and we know they're doing a RPG that isn't Baten Kaitos (and shouldn't be Xenosaga either)... Camelot should still be doing the codenamed Camelot RPG, etc (I don't think those could have been shown though) But I don't think it's unthinkable, Nintendo is doing sequels but also new IP's/games.
Shino Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 In my defense, Excite Truch isn't a new IP. As for the rest, I got owned. Still not enough.
Owen Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I agree with Shadow on that one, if anything's going to be delayed it's Galaxy. Surely they wouldn't delay that? I think thats going to be Nintendo's BIG xmas game. It's actually quite difficult to decide which one out of the two would i prefer to be delayed (neither of course), but if i had to choose...perhaps i could wait for Brawl a tad longer, maybe...not... It's going to be Brawl whats delayed though, i can feel it in my water, not by a long-time i must add. Japan will get it November, USA will get it December and we will get it end-of Jan 2008. (There my predictions). Therefore making sure they have another big hit after Xmas. Which makes sense, but is bloody annoying when both Japan/USA get all 3 big hitters in 07. If i'm wrong, then i'll be a very happy man! So please be wrong!
Cube Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 In my defense, Excite Truch isn't a new IP. As for the rest, I got owned. It's half a new IP then. Freebies from the event: I want the keyring. Matt Cassassaasasasasswhatshisname: I think everybody’s well aware that Nintendo held a games event in Seattle this week. I got back late, late last night and have since then been playing Mario Party 8 and My Word Coach on Wii and DS so that I can prep future coverage. We were initially embargoed on everything we saw at the event, including third party titles, but Nintendo suddenly said we could publish write-ups and media for the third party stuff, which is why it all went up yesterday. We’re still waiting to roll with the first party stuff. It’s coming soon, but don’t get your hopes up for any megatons. Online press were, very unfortunately, not allowed access to the game you all really want to know about. I cried, but it didn’t help. On Friday, we will have some good coverage of a non-first party game that you should probably start getting excited about, if you haven’t already. So stay tuned for that. Kotaku: owever, those two high profile Nintendo titles mentioned in my previous post (Smash and MP3)? You're gonna have to wait for E3 or make do with some (now) old Metroid Prime 3: Corruption screens. Expect news 11AM EST, which is 5PM GMT.

James McGeachie Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 MP3 graphics makeover confirmed. Good E3 confirmed. I think he just means that on Friday the most you'll get from sites about Prime 3 are the screens a few places got a couple of days ago, meaning they're now "old". It's no wonder people here can get easily disappointed if they take even the most vague comments as "confirmation".
Mr_Aonuma Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 make do till E3? isnt E3 in july this year? and MP3 is coming out in AUG?(usa) that really isnt enough time to let the public know about MP3. im sure MP3 had some form of coverage this week, that we will see.... i hope.

Maybe... but not for the internet press: Online press were, very unfortunately, not allowed access to the game you all really want to know about. Perhaps printed press had access to it, they have to write previews before the game's launch anyway. We won't see it for a while though, I don't think they have time to make it for this month magazines providing they have like... 7 days to print them and put them on store (if they come out June 1st).
Jhaqen Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 From Kotaku: Earlier this week, I travelled to Seattle to check out Nintendo's summer line up for the Nintendo DS and Wii, the fruit of which will be going live tonight, not tomorrow as previously posted. That's 9 PM PST, if you're looking for a specific time frame. Look for lots of hands-on impressions, screenshots and video of what's coming down the Nintendo pike to go live throughout the night. Sorry, but due to embargoes, I can't reveal what exactly what was covered at the Nintendo Media Summit, but I will say this: mini-game fans will not be disappointed. Great.
pedrocasilva Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 From Kotaku: Great. Ouch. I'm Interested in Wii Music though, as I would for a rumored Wii Motor Sports... or a online-enabled Wii Sports.
Excelle Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 From Kotaku: Great. Oh cool! My sarcasm cup overrunneth...
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 They should rename it to the Reggie Media Summit. Perhaps Metroid will receieve the web page treatment as smash bros has? Doesnt sound too unlikely if you ask me.
Smowza Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 So from this event we get nothing much gutted! How is e3 going to be done now anyways, will we have internet coverage like before only without all the flashy stages and crowds?
gaggle64 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Essentially, yes. Basically they only wanted professional journos so that they don't get hundreds of second rate forum-based idiots bad mouthing their projects because they can't grasp the concept that games actually take time, money and effort to produce.

Helmsly Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Here we go: http://blog.wired.com/games/ For the massive amount of internet chatter that Nintendo's recent Media Summit was getting, the end results sure turned out to be a letdown. Given that Nintendo had, the day before, announced an earlier-than-expected August 20 release date for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, it was perfectly reasonable to expect a new playable build at the event. But it didn't happen. And if you, members of the Internet, are disappointed at this news, imagine how we feel, having hyped up this event to you fine people as the next big megaton for Wii and DS, only to find that it was more like a bottle rocket. Teppo Holmqvist Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 The ironic thing here is that Nintendo itself didn't advertise this event at all, and never intended that everyone would be watching it so closely. We really can thank IGN, 1UP and Kotaku for hyping it beyond its original scope. Oh well, let's the bitching commence.

I think we knew it would be like this though; any 'leaked' info from people that attended said it was "disapointing". I think this little show was to give attention to games that may of got overlooked at E3. Gametrailers just put up a ton of videos: http://www.gametrailers.com/
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Is that supposed to be news? Im beginning to wonder what was really the point of this media event.
Teppo Holmqvist Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Is that supposed to be news? Im beginning to wonder what was really the point of this media event. Get attention for some less important titles before inevitable clusterfuck that is called E3.
