Hamishmash Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Thank you. That does mean a lot. It's my "new style" so to speak. It's what Qinc is going to look like when it comes back on the 15th.
edza Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I used to sketch and draw quite a lot back in the day but these days, my artistic talents are being used to paint my sons rooms... Spent new years day painting a feature wall in my twins room. Did one for my other sons' room a few months back.
EddieColeslaw Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Wow. Those walls must make the room look so fun! And facilitate ocean/farm-themed dreams!
Hamishmash Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 ADORBS! I want to be your child. Also this is my latest (and I think GREATEST) animated film.
edza Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Wow. Those walls must make the room look so fun! And facilitate ocean/farm-themed dreams! When they get older, I might go all Giger on them ADORBS! I want to be your child. Cheers Hamish, I'll keep that in mind if ya ever go up for adoption! Funny vid btw, Gaga the man...narf!
Magnus Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I agree with whoever said that this portrait kind of makes you look like a younger version of the main character in Up.
Hamishmash Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I did two different versions of Never Never Land from Peter Pan.
Magnus Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I like those maps. I remember seeing the first one on your blog a while ago and wondering why you didn't post it in this thread.
Eenuh Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I like those; the second one is my favourite though. It's different, not like all the other maps that are already there. Though I do like the sky in the first one, it's so happy. =D
Diageo Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I think it's a little crowded and difficult to tell what is what. At least in the first one.
Eenuh Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 That's why I prefer the second one, it's a lot more clear about what is what. Plus it's a lot more original looking, so that's another plus. Working in black and white can be very difficult to get details in, cause you only have two colours to work with. In the first image it is indeed a bit too busy looking, but the second one works beautifully and I love the shading you've done in it.
Hamishmash Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Yeah, I've not worked in Black and White like this before (it was a requirement for the project) and even without any greys its really tricky. I think they're quite busy but oh well. It was just a uni project. If one gets chosen it will get published though, which is exciting. I like the second one because it reminds me of a map from a Mario game, like Yoshi's Island or Mario Land 2.
Coolness Bears Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 It pales in comparison to everyone else in here but here is the fifth installment (yes there have been five) of my Dayton The Bean webcomic thingy fun thing I like to do...very occasionally. :p
nightwolf Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 You almost puke fantastic Hamishmash, dear god, draw something shit once in a while please? :P
Hamishmash Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I was quite happy with that. It's for a book cover for a friend's birthday. Here's the full image. http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_ly0ur2fvNo1r5ejtko1_1280.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAJ6IHWSU3BX3X7X3Q&Expires=1327081984&Signature=gRQwhczZPnGGfsSjqbmeTAh%2FG4M%3D I want to do some more things in this style. Any suggestions? I'd love to design characters for a fighting game one day, not make the sprites or graphics but maybe their character screen artwork.
Diageo Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Make an angel in that style. :P Or a demon. Or a demonic angel...
dan-likes-trees Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 (edited) This thread is so rammed with talent it's ridiculous. Recent thread faves Love it Love. Hamman, are you a student? And can't remember if I posted this... Edited January 20, 2012 by dan-likes-trees
Hamishmash Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Love. Hamman, are you a student? I'm assuming you're planning on doing something artsy after uni - illustration? Graphic design? Animation? Yeah, studying Illustration & Animation at Kingston. I plan on just following where there is work after uni, but I'm also working on a graphic novel / young adult's book called Ivy Clarke and the Curse of Midnight or Ivy at Midnight or... something. It's like a Victorian, gentlemen's club Ghostbusters. The plot is all worked out, I've got tons of reference for it... just the name and the drawing still to do. :P Your stuff is delightful.
Hamishmash Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Some of the characters in Ivy at Midnight. Most of the focus of the story is about a mysterious Gentlemen's Club which young Ivy gains access to. And here are the members.
Magnus Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Those character designs look really good based on their headshots.
Hamishmash Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Thanks. Part 1 in my Grimm’s Fairy Tales collection. I’ll be designing a cover for a new edition soon, but I want to explore the characters first… the magical fairy tale worlds that are ingrained in the minds of so many children… and adults still to afraid to go into the woods.
