The Lillster Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Hello, I don't know if i'm allowed to do this but, i'm currently creating a Nintendo Wii website, and I have created this topic to get your opinion on why you find the wii so fun. The best replies will be posted onto my website as a feature. I'll go first... Three words... One-Handed-Gaming! This is what makes the Wii really stand out, no other console can offer this experiance (third party add-on maybe). When I first played Wii sports, I couldn't believe how simple and fun the controlls were, the graphics were average, but I still find myself playing this game, and with mates, it's even more fun. I hope i'm not breaking any rules here, but please give me your opinion, good and bad. Thank you.
mcj metroid Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 seriously i hate to not be helpful but very few people actually post here. Re creat this thread in in wii discussion
The Lillster Posted March 24, 2007 Author Posted March 24, 2007 I would of done, but I thoght that might be against the rules.
Jasper Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I would of done, but I thoght that might be against the rules. They'll PM you to never do it again if ti's against the rules. I would give it a try, and if they delete your topic or lock it - so be it.
Maiky-NiSuTe Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 whatshing my mother and father inlaw play the Wii and seeing them having loads of fun!! (their are 55+)
Marshmellow Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 To say it simply is just the fact that I'm active in the game, not just sitting on the couch moving fingers... I'm moving around punching swining whatever it may be.
Shorty Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I'm going to move this to Wii discussion, ignore the people who told you to cross post, that's not the right course of action. This is a fair discussion, it's not too specific but it's helpful. Now on topic: To me it's simply the multiplayer. Right now I'm in a slump for single player. I got bored of Wii Fitness and Training, stopped playing Zelda once it was finished and only played Wii Play once. I don't have any other titles. Yet Wii Sports with all my friends round still justifies the original purchase. I look forward to some titles in the future, I don't see any that grab me yet, but I'm optimistic. For the right now it's just the amount of fun and giggles that can be generated by three or more friends and some bowling or golf.
Fierce_LiNk Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 What makes the Wii fun for me is the accessibility. With other controllers, myself and others had to take the time to remember the button layout and what button does what for each specific game. For this reason alone, I mainly played multiplayer with people who had already owned the game or were fairly good at it to begin with. I didn't have the patience to teach someone a new scheme, etc. With the Wiimote, it's familiar right from the start. You don't have to spend hours going easy on someone with super smash bros. melee to let them get into the game, people can get up and running in a matter of minutes. For this reason alone, it's what has made it easy to play games with your younger brother, your sister, your uncle, your dad, your best mate and your friends who have never touched games before. It's very sociable and very, very fun.
The Lillster Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 I agree with you 100% I played the PS3 for the 1st yesterday. I only played one game, which was Virtua Fighter 5. It was a good game, but to me, it just felt like a traditional fighting game.
Smiter Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 For me, it's the social side and the motion controls. The Wii's motion-sensing really has put a fresh spin on the games, and I feel more satisfaction from making great plays. That's because you actually go through the motion, as opposed to simply tapping a button. I got my Dad to play Wii for the first time, and he actually punched the air in joy when he got strikes in bowling! That's immersion. Now, I find myself exploring all sorts of games. Before, I wouldn't have bought The Godfather on PS2/360. Now I'm considering getting it tomorrow. Must be the motion-controlled violence. :P
The Lillster Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 I was going to buy God Father, until I lost 40 quid.
Teppo Holmqvist Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I was going to buy God Father, until I lost 40 quid. That's bad.
DCK Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Smashing a winner in Wii Tennis is still fun after 4 months.
The Lillster Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 That's bad. Yeh, but on the bright side, i've just read some more impressions on the game, and now I want it even more! Anyway, i'll probably get it next friday or saturday.
Hellfire Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Just the fact that we get a brake from pushing God knows how many buttons after all these years is refreshing. It's a great controller to pick up and play, so I get to play with my parents and non gamer friends, which would never happen before. Not all games need the extra remote funcionalities, but it just makes the game more fun and refreshing.
Smiter Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Smashing a winner in Wii Tennis is still fun after 4 months. QFT. There's nothing like the feeling of smashing a perfectly-timed return from your opponent's serve, and watching him/her scramble in vain. The angle and speed at which the ball zips across the court, coupled with your arm movement... What a feeling. Lillster, sorry to hear you lost 40 quid. That's bad. I'm hoping that it's just a temporary misplacement and you still have a chance of finding it... If not... damn.
Blue_Ninja0 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 The separated hands control, the menu mouse menu navigation, the satisfaction of the motion controls. And i believe we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg. I'm anxiously waiting to see what can be done in terms of intuitiveness in Metroid Prime 3.
