Paj! Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 (edited) 10 fave songs at the moment. Demi Lovato - Get Back Tori Amos - Taxi Ride 30 Seconds To Mars - The Kill Fall Out Boy - Sugar We're Goin' Down Soho Dolls - Stripper The Gossip - Heavy Cross Britney - Gimme More Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles Demi Lovato - Don't Forget Ashley Tisdale - Masquerade (Coolness! Have you got her new album?) -- This makes Tori Amos look like she belongs with the Disney whores. Which unbelievably wrong. ---- I started to "get" Hands, but then it blew up in my face. Might try later on. I'm not too enamoured with her in any case. ---- Wait, Haggis I saw a Demi Lovato album in Fopp on Friday... With all the cliched marker pen scrawlings that is meant to represent teenage angst. ---- I'm kinda looking foward to La Roux's album. Only heard In For The Kill, but I love the Skream remix. It's just amazing. --- Songs I'm Currently Enamoured With In For The Kill (Skream's Lets Get Racey Remix) - La Roux When I Grow Up - Fever Ray Swans & The Swimming - Iron & Wine Leather - Death In Vegas Girls - Death In Vegas Psychic City - YACHT Ghost Of Love - Inland Empire The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game - grace Jones Edited June 8, 2009 by Paj!
ipaul Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Gaaahhhh what is there to like about that song?! It's fairly electronic and repetative, which suits my tastes nicely. I also quite like the lyrics and the way the song builds more and more as it progresses. What don't you like about it? :P

What don't you like about it? :P I love this kinda music generally but I just couldn't stand this song unfortunately. I think the vocals put me off, and the fact it was just too repetitive got me in the end.
ipaul Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Fair enough. Guessing you dont like All My Friends either. Do you like The Chemical Brothers?
Slaggis Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 (edited) This makes Tori Amos look like she belongs with the Disney whores. Which unbelievably wrong. *Sigh* God, you annoy me sometimes. Wait, Haggis I saw a Demi Lovato album in Fopp on Friday... With all the cliched marker pen scrawlings that is meant to represent teenage angst. Have you actually given Don't Forget a listen? Or even Get Back and La La Land for that matter. She wanted the album like that, as a 'tribute' to her love of No Doubt (Looks incredibly like their album cover). Anyway. I was just making the point that I thought the album that I saw was new. And you said her new one is coming out.
Slaggis Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 No, but I will now to see. I was just making the point that I thought the album that I saw was new. And you said her new one is coming out. It is new, here. Been out for a year in America, as far as I'm aware though. I just love the power behind her voice, especially with Don't Forget live. It's utterly cliche, but I love the couple of performances of it that's she's got so into it that's she begun to cry near the end. If it were a 30 year old singing it and doing the same thing, I'd be laughing. But, somehow it works considering her age. Can't really explain what I mean, so I'll shutup. Nice to see she writes her stuff too (Or at least both writes and co-writes).
Ganepark32 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Listening to some Glam Metal/Rock at the moment. Seems to be quite a lot of new bands picking up the style in the Scandinavian countries. Anyway, liking this one in particular: I really need to head out to Sweden again and soak up the music scene. Some great bands coming out of there, and Finland.

Nice to see she writes her stuff too (Or at least both writes and co-writes). Why would be laughing? Tori Amos very literally freaks out all the time (dunno specifically about crying, but I assume so) and she was around 30-35 during her "crazy" period. But anyway. So far it seems bland as an album. Kinda what I expected to be fair. Better than Veronicas. It sounds a bit like she listened to a No Doubt album, then a Jonas Brothers album, then decided to squish the two into an unholy union. Every song sounds the same except Don't Forget, which does at the end.
Slaggis Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 (edited) Why would be laughing? Tori Amos very literally freaks out all the time (dunno specifically about crying, but I assume so) and she was around 30-35 during her "crazy" period. But anyway. No, you misunderstand me. I would be laughing because for a 30 year old to be crying over the lyrics in Don't Forget just wouldn't be right. The lyrics are obviously a bit immature with lines like "Love is like a song, you can't forget it" and so on. Yet, for her as a 16 year old who wrote it, it probably feels like such a deep and meaningful song, and so therefore the fact she manages to cry over it makes it seem all the more real. I'm probably making no sense am I? And yes, the album is utterly average at best. I only listen to Don't Forget, Get Back and then La La Land a little. I'm not for a second saying it's entirely amazing, because it isn't. But it's definitely a good start, in my eyes. Edited June 8, 2009 by Slaggis
Paj! Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 No you are, you're right. Also, I ammend what I say (grudgingly), I've come around to Untouched. I felt the awesome string bits were wasted on a shit song, but I appreciate it's raveyness. Everything else I heard from them is still balls though.
Platty Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Thom Yorke just announced for Latitude! woop canny wait. He is playing the special 12 noon on sunday which Joanna Newsom filled last year. Should be epic!
chairdriver Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Speaking of Joanna Newsom, I listened to Ys in full today. Only Skin is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tremendous.

The only thing I'd credit that song with is the two hot girls who sing and catchyness.
Paj! Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Raveyness? The only thing I'd credit that song with is the two hot girls who sing and catchyness. I mean in the way it makes you dance. In a frantic fashion.
Oxigen_Waste Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Speaking of Joanna Newsom, I listened to Ys in full today. Only Skin is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tremendous. Yup, it's probably her best composition.
Ramar Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I mean in the way it makes you dance. In a frantic fashion. Ah, I could imagine much frantic dancing if it came on during a night out, if only to try and impress some females.
Slaggis Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I'm not even sorry. I love this, only just got linked back to it by a friend.
Dyson Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Fair enough. Guessing you dont like All My Friends either. Do you like The Chemical Brothers? I love the Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Justice, Propellerheads..
Paj! Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Listening to Little Boots album. It's alright, nothing amazing. She was uber-hyped.
Slaggis Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 (edited) The next Bleeding Love, for sure. She's such a hateful bitch, but I love the song. Edited June 9, 2009 by Slaggis
