Letty Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 The internet knows not of its existence... have you spelt it right? yes Its not for homework or anything, its just annoying me.
Max Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 will help with anything chemistry, biology, physics related.
Shorty Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Alright, weird question, but it's for art stuff in school. =P We have to create a design for a tattoo, and now first they want us to look up all sorts of different tattoos and the origins of it and stuff like that. Anyone who knows any good sites about tattoos with a lot of information? I'm just posting this here cause some people might be bored and looking for something to do, and this isn't all that boring to help out with. =P http://www.bmezine.com for peoples experiences and ideas and there's a tattoo design category on deviantart.com stuff about tattoo history, http://www.tattoos-by-design.co.uk, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_tattooing
Fields Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I've never heard the term 'sahelmontane', but the Sahel is obviously the region of Africa you're talking about and montane is a high altitude grassland. See here.

conzer16 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 why how good are you?i suck at it.i'm doing pass for the lc now Pretty fluent. Studying it in uni too.
Max Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 That makes a lot more sense, thank you! also, "sahel" in arabic means coast if that helps in anyway.
Supergrunch Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 also, "sahel" in arabic means coast if that helps in anyway. That's strange... isn't the sahel a band across Africa?
Atomic Boo Posted November 19, 2006 Author Posted November 19, 2006 Simultaneous Equations Okay, im usually good at these but ive forgotten how to do a couple of them. Please explain how to solve these with the 'elimination method' if that makes sense. 1) x+6y=9 2x + 3y=19 2)Add the Equations: 5x-2y=1 4x+2y=8
Konfucius Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I: x+6y=9 |*2 II: 2x+3y=19 ______________ (subtract II-I) -9y=1 -->y=-1/9 then put -1/9 for y in one of the equations: x+6*(-1/9)=9 x=9+2/3 x=29/3 the second one is the same I think.
Supergrunch Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I: x+6y=9 |*2II: 2x+3y=19 ______________ (subtract II-I) -9y=1 -->y=-1/9 then put -1/9 for y in one of the equations: x+6*(-1/9)=9 x=9+2/3 x=29/3 the second one is the same I think. Yes, I get the same answers as you (but I doubled the second equation). For the second, you can just add the 2 equations: 9x = 9 x = 1 y = 2
Atomic Boo Posted November 19, 2006 Author Posted November 19, 2006 i think youre right but i dont really understand
Supergrunch Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 i think youre right but i dont really understand Right: I'll start with the second question: 5x - 2y = 1 I 4x + 2y = 8 II I + II => 5x - 2y + 4x + 2y = 1 + 8 => 9x = 9 => x = 1 substitute into I: => 5 - 2y = 1 => -2y = 1 - 5 => -2y = -4 => 2y = 4 => y = 2 First question: x + 6y = 9 I 2x + 3y = 19 II 2(II) => 4x + 6y = 38 III III - I => 4x + 6y - (x + 6y) = 38 - 9 => 4x + 6y - x - 6y = 29 => 3x = 29 => x = 29/3 substitute into I: => 29/3 + 6y = 9 => 6y = -2/3 => y = -1/9 By the way, => means implies, and the roman numerals (eg. I, II, etc.) are numbering the equations so that I can refer to them.
Letty Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 ok, I need someone how to tell me how to say 'about 3 weeks ago, ' in french, within the next 10 minutes if possible edit - its too late now

AshMat Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 What's the formula in excel to get it to work out the difference between 2 cells?
Mr_Odwin Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 What's the formula in excel to get it to work out the difference between 2 cells? =ABS(A1-A2) But obviously replace the A1/A2 with the relevant cells. This gives the difference, the absolute difference (no negativity); I assume that's what you meant.
AshMat Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Yup, that's right, cheers odwin. Better than the huge long formula my dad came out with.
Supergrunch Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Does anyone know how to make excel draw a regression line of best fit through a set of points? I downloaded an addon that supposed to do it, but it didn't work quite how I wanted it to. Ideally, I'd like to apply different types of regression to different parts of the curve.
Letty Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 How do you find the perimeter of a circle again? My mind has blanked
