The US Snes is a disgusting piece of crap. Our version was miles better.

i second that.

America had such a vile looking console-we got the goods :D

Don;t you think the US SNES was more reminiscent of the NES? Whereas the Jap/EU one was very modern looking with it's curves?

Maybe.I like both i'm not pushed on this. Not something that would bother me.the fact that we got the same one as the japs seems to indicate that for once nintendo loved us

Or does it indicate we weren't important enough to get our own design lol, or am I just playing Devil's Advocate?

i don't know.Am i the only person who found that cartoon kinda sad?

Yeah it was a bit sad, very well drawn but sad. However, I don;t believe the Gamecube is dead, neither are any of my Nintendo systems. They live on forever. And I don;t give a toss what anyone says, the Gamecube gave us more classics than the PS2 or the XBOX.

Just look at the N64, it never won it's particular war, but hell, I reckon it's remembered in a far more favourable light than the PSOne or the Saturn, or the Dreamcast for that matter. The reason why Nintendo consoles live on is because they always produce classics.

You made me cry there, dude. It's beautifull.

But then again, it's right to - GameCube won't die. All of those classics just ask to be played again and the cube doesn't want to disappear. Yes, by rights, the cube should dissappear. But it won't - it's a box of life, yes. Xbox is dead as hell and PS2 is slowly dying, too.. But Cube will live forever.

Now let's mourn about the GameCube sitting on the table next to it's active brother, Wii. The Cube itself won't be used again, the games will...

GC won't die yet. MLG will probably keep Smash on their game list for ATLEAST another year, considering how popular the game is proving to be, and if the Wii version isn't as good, i can see it there for 2-3 more years. Also, with a great back catalogue, GC will live for quite a while?

Was that post serious?

The GC is already dead.

There no games being made for it, or released for it for that matter, since the wii is out and they are focusing their attention on that, moving any games they had for gc onto the wii.

And that's beside the fact that you can get them for about £20 second hand.

Good riddens that this failure of a system being the least successful home console in the history of the company [VIRTUAL BOY excluded as its technically classed as a portable gaming device] is no more. This system has had serious repercussions for Nintendos reputation amongst the gaming industry and the gaming community as a whole. They let Sony Playstation 2 become the most successful videogame console of all time and the consequences of this are still being felt today. However, Wii is showing some encouraging signs but its going to take a few years of "launch style" solid sales performance for Nintendo to slowly mend the wounds they created for themselves. Heres hoping Wii can dethrone Sony Playstation 2 and become the most successful videogame console of all time and restore the company amongst the elite of sales figures once more, something they haven't experienced in the console market for the past decade.

GC wasn't a failure because everyone who had one loved it and spent hours playing truly great games-it received far more high quality games than the X-BOX and had some truely uniue games (doshin the giant, chibi-robo, animla crossing), considering the GC launched over a year after the PS2 and Sony we're still gaining momentum from the PSone. i think it had an amazing run, it may not have sold as well as X-BOX globally but i consider it to be a better console than the N64 because i had more to play, more interesting ways to play on it and better games that suited my tastes more than the 64 catalogue.

I also liked the console personally, despite the lack of truly excellent original games. I was merely referring to the success of the console on a universal scale. One hundred million console versus twenty million, thats a downright failure, but they did successfully sell just enough units to make a reasonable profit. Nintendo should aim for Wii at the VERY LEAST to be three times as successful as GameCube aiming for 60 million consoles to be sold BARE MINIMUM, although i'd like to see them sell 120,000,000 consoles plus.

GC wouldn't have caught up with PS2 anyway just for the reason that third party support wasn't there and Nintendo still had the kiddy image it's just managed to shake off.

lack of truly excellet original games?!?!?! wtf?! lol Wind Waker, Chibi-Robo, Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime, Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, Pikmin, DOnkey Kong Jungle Beat, Super Monkey Ball etc etc etc

Truly excellent original games as in games 100% exclusive to the system, no ports and is not based on an existing franchise or a franchise which has had minimal sequels.

I can think of a few. Pikmin games were good original games but not outstanding. Luigis Mansion was original but more of a tech demo, GCs equivalent of Wii Sports, games like Doshin the Giant and Animal Crossing while they were original, they were ports of N64 and N64DD.

The only games on GC that were really good and original with either a franchise with minimal sequels and a drastic change or a totally original game is Metroid Prime, the best game of last generation as validated via its 3rd all time highest average ratio of 96.4% and Eternal Darkness: Sanitys Requiem with its originality and as i've stated, one of the only mature titles to be released on a Nintendo console in the past 10 years up until recently.

i think you need to take a long look at the games that did come out on GC a little more. but please tell me what games on PS2 fit your criteria, i can think of God of War . . . oh and Devil May Cry.

There are so many, but basically its the games that attracts the age group of gamers that the bulk of PS2 gamers are. Premier franchises such as Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy. Franchises that attract a lot of gamers. These sorts of games are sorely lacking on Nintendo systems but all they'd need to do is create similar games to fill the void and satisfy the people demanding these sorts of games. These aren't all time great games but they shift units and Nintendo basically needs to adapt to the tastes of the modern era to maximise Wiis success.

What the hell are you on dude?! Nintendo have the most IP of any of the Console Manufacturers- Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart/Tennis/Golf etc etc, Metroid, Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Super Smash Bros. Final Fantasy is starting to come back to Nintendo and GTA is multiformat on the 360 and MGS may be soon enough too, both MGS and GTA have been ported to the original xbox last gen so your contradicting youself based on your own terms to make your point-basicly your shit at debating-sort out your points and stop changing the goalposts lol

Its all well and good they're being ported onto Xbox, but what good is that to Nintendo other than to minimise Playstation sales? They need these actual sorts of games on Wii to capture that segment of the market they've been ignoring and its quite large. Nintendo has great IPs and I've grown up with them, but you look at all time sales figures for games, ain't many Nintendo games there anymore. The only real big sellers beyond 10 million units are Super Mario Bros games and Pokemon games. All other games such as GTA and Gran Turismo have sold over 10 million units, unlike all of Nintendos other franchises other than the two I mentioned before which are two of gamings most successful franchises [Mario & Pokemon that is].

GONE to rest, i'll return within 24 hours.

YOUR WAY TOO OBSESSED WITH SALES NUMBERS!

your a gamer, you should be worried about how you can afford to buy the systems you want and get the games you've been dying to play for months sometimes years, each of the platforms have their own exclusive titles and when it comes to new IP Microsoft is doing amazingly well with the 360 atm.

Just because a system of game doesn't sell doesn't mean its shit, Ocarina of Time didn't sell too much comparatively when it came out despite it being an amazing game, just one example of how you SHOULDN'T just read figures and decide which is better.

You don't pick what films you see based on review scores, you don't decide your book purchases based on what the latest best seller is, why should you listen to gamerankings and believe that because loads of people buy a game it must be good-fact is would you say FIFA Street is a good game just because it sold well?

MGS3 never came to the Xbox though. I wonder if that will happen with the 360 stuff. They maybe get a inferior 4 (just like with 2) and then 5 never appears on it.

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus would be two more on the PS2 that were original IPs.

But yeah sales don't mean good games, but they do mean games on your system when it comes to what system is leading the pack.

but does the fact that GC never had an exclusive MGS game or Ico or SOTC make it a failure?

it done what it intended to do-supply awesome games whilst making Nintendo grow up a little.

As proven by EA.

GC never had an exclusive MGS game

Twin Snakes kind of is...
