Official Gamecube to Wii U Controller Adapter announced!
V. Amoleo replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It's probably to retain compatibility with Wii games. But I agree with you, make it emulate the Pro Controller (complete with rumble!) instead of the Classic Controller and it'd be excellent. -
Official Gamecube to Wii U Controller Adapter announced!
V. Amoleo replied to Dcubed's topic in Nintendo Gaming
So those controllers plug straight into the Wii Remote rather than being fully functioning GameCube controllers. I'm a little disappointed about that. I'm guessing these are the ones we saw photos of a bit ago so I'm also a bit disappointed that they're made by PDP instead of Nintendo. I've had no problem with PDP in the past but their shape is just that little bit off which takes them into dodgy third party controller territory. I don't understand why Nintendo would license this product out when they've announced an adapter for GameCube controllers. I assume that now there'll be these Wii GameCube Controllers and then proper GameCube controllers for the adapter. -
@darksnowman I've bought it but only completed the practice match so far! I picked the Charmander deck from the professor. I'm hoping to at least do the first badge by the end of the week.

I can't wait for this tomorrow! I remember saving up to buy it as a kid. I still have the cartridge but the battery no longer works in it.

Just an update in case anybody else comes across this in the future. Using Google to find this answer from their site was a mistake, it doesn't look like the new site is indexed correctly yet and it returns results for their old site. The answer to my question was located here. One PS4 (+wherever you are currently signed in, like how the Xbox 360/Xbox One works). Two PS3s. Two PSP/PS Vitas. The Japanese website is slightly different as they already have the PlayStation TV in their territory. They say that the two portable device limit is being increased to three and includes the PlayStation TV. (They also say that any purchases made before 17/11/2011 will work on 5 PS3s and 5 portable devices, though that's not really relevant to me). Assuming we'll get a similar increase to the portable device limit, I'll be fine with my devices as long as I deactivate the two PSPs. Excellent!

Have you checked that you haven't accidentally changed the sound settings in the video player? Rather weirdly they're completely independent to the system sound settings. When playing a video hit the Options button and check the audio settings.

Does anybody know the current policy regarding number of PlayStation devices registered to a PSN account? I currently have a PS3, PS4, Vita and PSP (x2) registered. I'm looking to expand this with an additional PS3, Vita and PlayStation TV. I don't mind deregistering the PSPs because the content can be played on the Vita.

I was interested but now that Smartphones are getting better at tracking health related data I'd be more interested in a mobile app that synched with Wii Fit U or something rather than a stand alone Nintendo product.

I need them all and I don't know why

Yoshi Backpack available for 6500 stars.

Is it possible to play local multiplayer with player 1 on the gamepad screen and player 2 on the TV screen? Like how it works in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed>

The GameCube adapter makes me sad that they didn't make a slot loading drive which accepted the GameCube discs. It has the capability to play the games, and now it has the controller ports :'(

I honestly don't know what to expect from Nintendo this year. I think my main guess is that they don't announce anything new this year. They just show us more of the games they've already said they have in the pipeline. What five things I'd like to see this year? GameCube games on the Wii U VC. Unlikely though as they seem to be in no rush to bring N64 games to the Wii U. Now that there is a unified account across the two platforms make it so that purchasing a VC game on one platform allows it to be played on any platform it's available for... like how Sony do. A Metroid game. A Starfox game. A cross game (& platform?) messaging system. I know you can send messages in Miiverse but it's too many steps.

The n-europe review is up. The Eurogamer review seemed to suggest that the game felt as if the DLC courses had been cut from the game to be sold separately. Not sure how much I believe that though.

Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call (3DS)
V. Amoleo replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It's all of the songs from the base game plus all of the DLC songs. Then they've bulked it up with a couple of new game modes. I played the hell out of the first and I'm still excited to see this get released. -
Apparently this is getting released November. The lack of analogue triggers on the Wii U is still putting me off. I'll have to see what they're doing with the GamePad otherwise it's PC all the way for me.

Just an update after using the Classic Linker N64 in a couple more situations recently. As I mentioned before it is hit and miss with which Wii Remotes it will work with. I have since picked up a standard Black Wii Remote which seems to be the most reliable so far. It's an original one with the SYNC button hidden within the battery compartment but it came with rubber case and strap, so later than my launch White Wii Remote. Additionally I've tried using it with my Game Boy Player. Unfortunately the only controller which works when plugged into the adapter is the N64 controller. This is a bit annoying as I'd been hoping to use my Wii SNES controller with the Game Boy Player as it seemed like the next best thing to actually plugging the GBA in via the GCN link cable.

Will be interesting to see if this DLC is already on the cartridge and we're just paying to unlock it. I hope that isn't the route they're taking.

Just an update on this. I bought this RGB SCART cable for a fiver. It seems to be an actual RGB cable, so that's a plus. The picture does seem better than when I was using the official composite cable which is bundled in with the GameCube. I didn't mention this in the original post but I get fairly bad diagonal interference over composite. Unfortunately I'm still getting this (though it seems to be a tiny bit better). I wasn't expecting moving between analogue cables to improve the situation though. It's probably caused by the proximity to the power carrying HDMI cables or perhaps my GameCube should be plugged into a different power socket... Update: I remembered hearing that removing pin 19 from a SCART cable can help reduce interference. After opening up my cable I can confirm that it is indeed an RGB cable with all the required wires connections. The only thing missing is that none of the ground pins are connected up. Not sure if that's the way they're supposed to be. Pin 19 wasn't connected up but I removed it any way, just in case. It hasn't helped.
-
Yeah, my original plan was to go for a component but at £100+ it's a bit out of my price range. Might pay the £40 for an official SCART though. I had thought about buying a GameCube compatible black Wii and using my component cable for that but that'd not help with the Game Boy Player on the GameCube then.
-
This: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/251457219330 says it's RGB but the presence of the composite ports on the cable make me doubt it actually is. Has anybody bought one or one similar?
-
Does anybody know if any of the available third party GameCube SCART cables are RGB? They mostly look like composite to me but was wondering if anyone knew for definite.

Skype is owned by Microsoft, but that hasn't stopped there being a Skype app for every other device ever. The Vita has a Skype app for example.
