Ok ermm I opened photoshop today and suddenly I can't start a new file.... File > New > Ok > Nothing..... Photoshop stays empty.... What the flip is going on here? o.O Please say someone knows a solution. >.> Infact, all I can do is open certain images...... Not even all of them. :-/ I'm really getting confused here.... This is not good.

Odwin, don't.......... >.>;; Comp, hopefully it will arrive on your doorstep soon. I don't see why you and your brother can't share one though... :-/

Hehe yeah, that's what I guessed... I tend to do the same especially as trying to get shadows perfect gives me a headache (I'm a perfectionist without the talent to back it up... Gotta work on that one. lol) XD Oh and if you ever want to get into 3D work then the pen tool will help as splines = pen tool in disguise. =P Oh and if something goes wrong, remember you can always edit each vector using levers.... I knew nothing about the pen tool before using that tutorial and I'm really glad I found it seeing as it teaches you how to use it. lolol

Yeah, I've heard a lot of good things about bournemouth's animation course, infact my friend is starting it next year... I do however recommend the course which has the most practical work in whatever field you want to get into.... Don't want to learn to much theory and then have no idea one what you're doing when you actually get down to it.... =P

That's a nice pic. XD I really do suggest you atleast get used to the pen tool though. I hated it at first, but, it really does help in the end.... >.< Even though getting started takes a little while longer you can progress with your colour at a faster pace.... It will also save you ever having to try to rub out the scanned paper as your sketch isn't even part of the colouring process in the end. Quick question.... For your shadows do you really think about how they would be on a real person or do you just put them where they look good? Ermmm that sounds kinda like I'm suggest they look bad, but, it's kinda the opposite..... But yeah.. ^^;

Yeah extruding along path does pretty much the same at first, but, lofting gives you more options to edit it with..... Yeah hiding stuff reduces memory usage, but I had to have a lot stuff showing so that I could get the road going on the right path...... As getting it going through the buildings/around buildings was difficult... And yeah the skyscraper was done normally with the windows and then I added the curve. Also I only technically did 1/4 of the windows as I used symetry to speed things up.

Digital Meditation - My Gallery (56k Nope!)

I'm not exactly a great drawer myself..... I can draw, but, it takes hours to come up with something as good as others can do in mins..... However, with photoshop, your drawings (if you do any at all) only really need to give you a rough outline as you can modify them with inking.... My original drawings don't look TOO much like the line art I actually end up working with. >.< lol But yeah, even if you stick to what you doing/editing your own pics and stuff, I really think you should get to grips with other things the software you use can do even if it's just to improve your main focus. -
http://www.katandnekomanga.ca/Lessons/Lessons.html I've kinda been praising this tutorial in another thread quite a bit, so I guess I should really put it in here as well so that others will find it. Really good starting place for inking and colouring.

Oh and I meant to add this before, but, errmmm yeah, here are my first 3 attempts at using the tutorial I provided..... 1 isn't finished and probably never will be as I've moved on to other stuff since then... I'm just posting this to show how fast(?) this tutorial can improve you. http://conbox.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/chocobonet.jpg I didn't use the pen tool for the outlines, but, I created a cool little style thing using the eraser to fix the lines.... =P lol http://conbox.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/moogleweb.jpg This is pretty good I guess. ^^; http://conbox.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/unfinished.jpg This was easilly going to be better then both, but, I got distracted by something else..... Yah my colouring is a lot better then this now...... But, I like how these came out... ^^; Arghhh I really should finish that last one... >.>

Digital Meditation - My Gallery (56k Nope!)

Whilst everything you do does indeed look nice, I think you should spread your horrisons a bit..... It's going to sound harsh, but, you seem to be stuck in a trap many people fall into and that's feeling content editing other peoples work.... I personally think you should take your skills and try to come up with something completely original... There is so much you could do, but, like I say, you seem to have fallen into this trap and I admit I did the same for ages until one day I drew something and thought hmmm, I'll colour this.... I had to do quite a bit of research on how to do it and ended up taking a really long route around it... Then I widened my search and ended up doing only original works.... But yeah, I might be wrong and you could do original work as well.... Basically, I just don't think you should waste your talents by only focussing on ONE side of the massive picture. Anyway, on a brighter note, like I said, I think you have talent. ^^;;...... And this probably won't mean to much to you as I'm not exactly a graphical master myself. lolol -
Not exactly......... But similar........... What I did is I made to splines, one for the path and one for the shape (the outline I guess) and created a lofted compound object *Create > Compound Objects > Loft*....... The path adds the 3rd dimention of depth to the shape that you created..... As I still have control of the splines after this I can edit the shape of the eventual object I've created.... This allowed me to make the object change in levels so that I could get it going through the buildings.... This might be what you're talking about, but, I'm assuming you mean extrude along path? The reason I have a few problems with the road is a) I didn't have enough time to smooth the problems out and b) the sheer scale of things brought my viewport to a crawl with everything displayed, which is really what I had to do at some points to avoid collisions. ; ; The buildings I created by originally drawing a basic shape of the base of the buildings and extruding upwards for one level..... I then inset and extruded all the windows........ And extruded the window ledges..... Really I didn't use any advanced modelling techniques to make this city as I wanted to keep the modelling simple with such a complex idea like a city. I could now model and texture a building like the ones in this city in about 20 mins. Oh that brings up another point.... At first the texturing was VERY difficult, because I was litterally going one polygon at a time in order to label everything for the multisub object texturing method I was using, but, I worked out a more effective method for doing this and things spead up a lot........ It's a shame the most complex buildings are the ones I didn't do this with. lol.... Really I guess the biggest thing about 3D modelling is working this kind of thing out and it just comes with experience, it's just a shame I don't have this yet. XD Oh and finally, a little piece of information..... If you can see it there is a building that looks like 2 circles and 1 elongated circle put together..... This building (well there are 3 of them) has an insane polygon count... Infact, at first, before I cut out as much as I could, it could cripple my viewport on its own. XD It easilly still has the biggest polygon count of all the buildings (the road destroys it o.O.... I can't export that thing because it's go too many apparently) and guess what... It's one of the smallest buildings in the thing.... Really my reasoning behind saying this is the fact that it was my first building and I had no idea what I was getting into and really it didn't need that many polygons.. What's this to do with anything? Well basically I'm telling you to try to force yourself to use less polygons.... Having a lot of pointless extra poly's makes things a lot harder.. Oh and before you say this is easy, it really isn't... Wasting memory is a lot easier then saving it. [/endrandomrantthingy]

Try messing about with the specularity levels.

You may not realise it but you do indeed have an air brush. lolol I failed to realise at first as well. lol At the top on the toolbar where you can set your brush properties there is a little icon that looks kinda like a ink dropper with a squiggle behind it..... Click that to enable air brust properties.
-
It would look nicer without the shiny surface under it... Kinda takes attention away from the knife. lol Otherwise nice work.

Hmmmm ok cool, I'll try that out. Thanks. ^^

Interesting news for j-rock fans (UK gig!)...
darkcloud replied to CoolFunkMan's topic in General Chit Chat
I'll ask my girlfriend if she knows who they are...... If she says yes, I will ask if she likes them....... If she says yes, I will ask if she wants to go to Birmingham.... If she says yes, I'll take her...... I'm really hoping she says no to one of them..... I don't wanna go to Birmingham. v.v;; -
Shino the website I posted tells you exactly how to use the pen tool.... This also allows you to do a really shitty drawing in the first place. =P Oh and it makes colouring a lot easier as your colours fall under the lines. Good use of layers makes colouring a lot easier.... If I had the time I would give it a try myself but I really don't. :-/ I'm still meant to finish my own drawing of cloud. ; ; Seriously, anyone who follows the website I linked will get good results.

Ahhh I've been wondering how to do this properly myself recently.... I've got 2 monitors plugged in and ermmmm I dunno how to make it so that certain things open on different screens.... Right now everything opens on my main monitor and I have to move it over..... Kinda feels like having them both ends up being pointless this way. XD

My mum got me a premium pack from spain for christmas and it works perfectly with a continental plug adapter thing. lol I just unplug it at night just to make sure. ^^;;

Seriously messed up dream, does it mean something?
darkcloud replied to a topic in General Chit Chat
........ Ermmm sounds like a nightmare fun. lol Not really fun but don't think too much about it.... Dreams are just your brain recaping the day kinda..... So it was probably caused by something bothering you during the day. -
Ok, I'm in a bit of a rush here because I'm amout to head off to my first lesson on character modelling (YAYZ XD) but, this is a link to where I learned everything I've ever needed to learn to colour anime style characters.... http://www.katandnekomanga.ca/Lessons/Lessons.html Seriously, this tells you everything you need to know before you develop your own style......... ^^ I will share some tips of my own later though as they relate to the link I gave you. hehe Seriously try to look at my link before the others........ I look at the others as well and feel that the one I supplied is easier to follow or something..... =P Ok so here are some tips.... *I'm in class and have some free time*....... My first tip is really to do with shadows..... Don't strictly follow what it says in the link I gave when doing them... Mess around with the feathering more and you will get some really nice effects........ Ok maybe I don't have free time... gotta go again. lol... ^^;

Possible National Holiday to Promote "Britishness"
darkcloud replied to a topic in General Chit Chat
Well then technically there is no individual languange as everything has influence from somewhere........ Maybe we should just speak through random grunts... And use drums instead of phoning people..... ^^; -
Ermmm wow, I won't be picking this up then...... Nevermind. ^^d

Possible National Holiday to Promote "Britishness"
darkcloud replied to a topic in General Chit Chat
ROFL... I'm not really depressed, just think that when the whole of britain comes together to celebrate something, the vast majority turn into a group of idiots...... It's kinda like being one of the few remaining uninfected humans in 28 days later. =P I much prefere to go out with a smaller group of people when not everyone and there dogs are celebrating... Nights are a lot more fun like that. XD As for American and English, well technically it's all English...... Americans just speak American English.... :-/ Oh and ermmm Cockney is still English...... Just a different dialect....... ^^;; -
Nice work cube.. By any chance, is that a planet texture on the cup on the left? lol
