  1. What a terrible week for English teams in Europe. Well done to Everton mind you, hope they can kick on from here. On the plus side I have a soft spot for Serie A, so nice to see those teams doing well for a change. Really want Juve to progress now but its going to very tough to stop Dortmund at home. On a knife edge that tie. Almost feel silly I didnt put a bet on against Arsenal. I like them but this has become so predictable now. Spurs fans must feel silly rubbing it in now considering how they got on...that said I hope they win at the weekend. They've been an enjoyable team this season.
  2. Perhaps - but doesn't Gerrard always do well in the derby?Be harsh to deny him. On a slightly related note, I've remembered when I was at the Newcastle-Chelsea match - all the Chelsea fans were still singing the 'Gerrard slipped on his arse' song. Fucking morons. Also Man U fans - what's the situation with Rooney right now? Playing well? Should he be dropped?
  3. Hoping Santi continues his run of form against Spurs, just swapped out Sanchez for him in my fantasy team (and then used the spare cash to upgrade Boyd to Sterling) So Newcastle's season more or less finished in January again. Annoyed by the manager situation, especially annoyed at losing Santon, bringing no defensive cover in (we still have the same CBs we did in 2009 when we relegated now) and then being told we had a good transfer window because we didn't lose Sissoko. I hope we can get a decent manager in the summer. If we get De Boer I'll be over the moon but I'm not holding out much hope. Although maybe Carver will prove himself, who knows. Need a win at the weekend. Also - Merseyside Derby and NLDerby in one weekend? Should be a good one!
  4. Didnt see the game but the results a but expected. Thougt we might have used our good game against Spurs up and thought it unlikely we'd get through. Guess thats what happens when you're down to 3rd choice rookie keeper as well. Go Sheffield United!
  5. Newcastle then: beat Chelsea, get thrashed by Arsenal. Same old same old. The former was a great day out and the latter was expected. Just need to beat spurs then the mackems! Win either of those and i'd be pretty happy, both would make me ecstatic My predictions for the final 8: Barca Chelsea Bayern Real Atletico Juventus (hardest to call this one but i hope Juve can manage it) Basel (calling the upset!) Arsenal (after making a slight hash of things)
  6. So we're back down to 9th and the winnig streak has been ended by a loss and a draw. Not disastrous but weve got a lot of injuries now and sone difficult fixtures over the festive period. If we can enter January and remain in the top 12 i'll be happy enough. Chelsea up next, really hope we can get at least a point. I would love it if we beat them... Howay the lads!
  7. We're up to 5th! Howay the lads! #pardiola
  8. Been a while since I was here, so just thought Id update with thoughts on the season so far. Newcastle, then. Utter dross to start with but since the comeback against Swansea, we've done very well! Pardew is finally picking players based on form, the new signings are settling in (Janmaat <3), tactics have improved. The team is organised and seem to have great spirit at the moment. The weird thing was, after the Stoke match, sacking pardew would have been logical, popular and justified. It would have been the right thing to do. Yet clearly, it wouldn't have been. Always hauls himself out of trouble , , for the time being Im happy with him there - especially since Moyes is not at Sociedad (good on him) Elsewhere...what is up with everyone? How rubbish are Liverpool? How frail are Arsenal? Do Man City want a trophy? How utterly dire have Spurs been? Such mediocrity all over the place. Hope Southampton get in the top 4, hope the English teams work it up a gear in Europe . . Everton have been great there at least. Chelsea have been fantastic and while Man U have problems, if I was a fan of theirs Id be feeling a lot more optimistic. Think they will manage top 4.
  9. In for the fantasy league, excited for it.
  10. So they'll be playing Tiki-Tapas next season? GEDDIT.
  11. Ok as a geordie I don't really enjoy pointing this out but can we all take a second to be amazed at the mind boggling what the fuckery of how Poyet has managed to keep Sunderland up? The fact that both Sunderland and Palace are staying up is astonishing.
  12. Ah fair enough, my bad. That said, all the possession in the world doesn't count if you can't transform it into goals.
  13. Going 90 minutes without scoring against opposition is 'Steamrolling' now? Ok then.
  14. Although I like the idea of it, I'm finding the Dualshock 4 to be a shoddily manufactured piece of equipment. I've got that horrible sticky shoulder buttons problem and as well as that, the rubber on the left analogue is starting to wear off. Plus the battery life on the thing is horrible. Anyone else having similar problems?
  15. Glad to see Eriksen do so well, just got him in for fantasy and he fired me up to the top of my friends league (for the first time this season I might add). Just thought I'd post some thoughts on Newcastle. Not to take too much away from a solid performance @Fierce_LiNk from Man U, but we really were dreadful. We've been shite ever since Cabaye left in truth and with Remy out this is massively amplified. The state of the club is so mediocre it beggars belief. The higher ups at the club have figured we aren't going to get higher than 8th but probably won't fall lower than 9th and so are already on their holidays. They're happy to see the season out with various thrashings and awful performances because it makes very little difference to the season as a whole. This attitude has seeped through to the players and the whole staff appear to be on their jollys already. I still think Pardew gets a little too much stick concerning the actual football - though he deserves everything he gets with regard to his professional conduct. He's had one brilliant season, one reprehensible season and one which appears to have been a mix of both extremes. He won manager of the month in November but now the team has conceded 11 goals without reply in the last 3 games. People seem to demand he should go but I'm not sure what this would really achieve, the problems with the club run higher the hierarchy all the way to Mike Ashley. I'm convinced we'd only get someone in who was equal to Pardew at best if we did sack him. The club has no ambition, no desire and little pride. What was once looking like a great season is fizzling out into a horrible, laboured run in which inspires nothing but apathy and loathing.
  16. Best thing about the result of the classico - Atletico Madrid are 1st. Be amazing if it went to the final day when they both play each other at Camp Nou.
  17. Transferred in Yaya and hull defender Davies for 32 points, captained Suarez and on 106 for the week so far, with loads of players still to do a second game. Boo ya.
  18. 3-0! Can they hang on? As amusing as their premier league form is, I really do want Man U in the Quarter finals. Hey if they get Dortmund, they might even have a chance of the semis....
  19. Not directed at me, but I like this game....
  20. Strange game that cup final, what a goal by Toure. Unbelievable placement. Never wanted a neutral team to win so much, thank god the mackems didn't win.
  21. Well what the fuck. We cruised to a 4-1 win with some of the best counter attacking football I've seen us play all season. And we're now officially the club with supporters who punch horses and managers who nut players. LIFE OF A TOON FAN EH.
  22. Fuck life, fuck football and most of all fuck those fucking horses.
  23. Came here to say exactly this. A shame but expected, hope we can cope alright without him. Had a horrible feeling the excellent performance against west ham would be his last.
