There's a shortage right now. Amazon aren't getting any more stock until April 8th and the game is number 1 on the eShop recent sellers list... Take that for what you will... Shame I haven't had much time to play this recently. I'm still on HR 2 and the 5 star quests in single player. I feel so far behind lol

What a disaster. 2 years of waiting and we get a broken product as a result. Cheers guys! Oh and fuck you too Atlus. This whole situation is your own fault in the first place for not releasing it over here yourselves!

The problem with PC gaming in general is that it's a hassle. Most people have their PCs away from their main TV/Sound system, so if you want the best experience, it's a PITA to set it up (not even getting into installing drivers and such) And even then, as an owner of an upper mid-range PC (Radion 7890 1GB edition), the difference in graphical quality isn't even that big. Even when switching from max settings to low, I hardly see a difference at all! I don't generally like playing games on PC because it's a hassle to set up and in its normal setup (not hooked up to my main TV, with comfy sofa etc) it's an uncomfortable experience. I'm not keen on playing my games on a desk (even with controller in hand) and I can't be arsed to move it into my main game room every time I want to play properly (and for what? A very minor boost in graphics? Hell I'm a Nintendo fan, I don't give a toss about graphics :p ) It's a shame cause there's lots of cool indie games I'd like to play, like Antichamber or Stealth Bastard, but I'd much rather play those on a console (or handheld!) because its a much more convinient and comfortable experience (never mind all the cool stuff they could do with Wii U and 3DS versions!)

I don't think they can turn it around. The media actively fight against them and the majority of major western developers seem to hate them. Perhaps focusing on indies over the likes of EA and Epic and communicating directly to consumers (bypassing the media through initiatives like Nintendo Direct) is their best bet right now...

It's not the same. Nintendo give out unlimited-use Unity Wii U licences for free to all Wii U developers. With every other console platform (including PS4), you need to pay for each console licence. It's unprecedented and Unity is probably the strongest competitor to UE3/4 in terms of 3rd party engines. Wii U also supports DX11 features like Tesselation and Compute so its GPU is obviously beyond the standard DX10 level spec. The concept of "Direct X" means nothing because Nintendo do not use Microsoft's API, they have their own custom one.
-
I wonder how much of this is due to Nintendo's deal with Unity. Kinda convinient that apparently the engine could run on Wii U (http://www.videogamer.com/news/unreal_engine_4_games_could_be_ported_to_wii_u_epic.html) and now all of a sudden it can't... So much for the engine being "supremely scalable"

Heh. Speak of the devil, right? Look how many people are now only just discovering that Nintendo has no concept approval process (which has been the case for around 7+ years now), nor requires devs to have an office environment set up (which hasn't been a requirement for at least 6 months now). This kind of public outreach was long overdue!

The hell? Why the the US get Revelations for $20, while we pay £25!? Edit: Oh my giddy aunt! I'll laugh so hard if this is just the DSi version and the 3DS one is still in limbo

Another game has been unveiled, this time it's Miiversketch! http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/33670 This is a lot like that Picture Quiz game in More Brain Training! I love that game! So many hours spent drawing stupid doodles and laughing at our nonsensical drawings

3DS Miiverse is still coming, but wont be compatible with all games unfortunately http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/33667 I wonder if that means that it'll be built into games and a separate launchable app, rather than an app that can be multitasked like the Friends list or the Game Notes. Bit disappointing if that's the case, especially considering that the 3DS already has a web browser that can run while a game is suspended...

I want this so badly, but I can't afford it right now

Ever wondered why games on Nintendo platforms often get inexplicably low metacritic ratings? Here's why! http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/189448/Metacritics_weighting_system_revealed.php I wonder how much they charge for the upper tiers... (and which publishers asked the lower publications to be blacklisted...) This also means that IGN (in agregate total) is worth 4.5 times as much as Eurogamer and N-Europe in terms of review scores... Certainly, they are a bastion of quality; a trustworthy, unbiased and reliable source who would never cave in to publisher influence... And this is the score agregator that publishers use to determine pay bonuses...

I'm sure that Hayter is in on the act and that he'll appear as someone else (probably young Solid Snake) later on in the game. Still doesn't change the fact that it's gonna feel weird as hell playing as a "Snake" that isn't voiced by Hayter!
-
Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes = MGS5!? Shock and awe! Anywho, it certainly looks nice, but not having David Hayter as Naked/Solid Snake is so weird. I wonder if they're gonna pull a MGS2 and have two seperate chapters (Phantom Pain = Tanker, Ground Zeroes = Big Shell). I'm much more interested in GZ than PP! Edit: Looks like my hunch was right! (In reverse mind you, but close enough :p ) http://www.twitlonger.com/show/ldp1im I hope that doesn't mean that there isnt much actual stealth gameplay in the game and that the majority of it is spent crawling around on the floor! It's a prequel starring Big Boss. Takes place between MGS Peace Walker and MG1 I believe.

Clearly there's no market for developers on eShop, they should all go iOS inste... oh wait...
-
Just fought Nibelsnarf for the first time with some buddies... We were on our last life, it limped off to area 11 to die, we followed it off the cliff. First my friends jumped off and I followed in tail... RIGHT INTO NIBELSNARF'S MOUTH! (no, really, I didn't even hit the ground! Just fell straight into his upwards pointing gob, as if he was waiting for me to plop into his mouth like a tasty snack...) Quest failed

Ok, so I tried 1999 mode... It does make a big difference! There are more enemies about, they're more aggressive and they take away about a third of your health with every melee hit Also possession doesn't seem to last as long. Loot still seems to be quite abundant though but I am hurting for more Salt though as it encourages you to make use of your powers moreso with the addition of more enemies. Feeling a bit better about the game now

Am I the only one who has been unimpressed by this so far? I played for about 2-3 odd hours the other day (got up to just after getting the flame power) on Hard mode and the game is rubbing me the wrong way. There seems to be little actual gameplay involved (at least at the start of the game), the AI was so brain dead stupid that I could literally stand still and just hit the melee button when they got near me and take no damage, loot is so abundant that it might as well just have regen health and infinite money, the level design seems entirely linear - with more focus on spectacle than exploration and there have already been several sections where I could literally put the controller down and watch my possessed turrets dispatch my enemies by itself. That being said, the guns do feel much better than in the first Bioshock. They have a nice weighty and meaty feel to them and the sound effects have that punch that makes the shots have a nice feel of impact (though I did let out an audible groan when I saw the COD iron sights view...) Feels like they've taken the worst parts of modern AAA gaming and incoporated them into Bioshock. I hope my instincts are wrong on this one and that the game gets better later on (the opposite of Bioshock - funny considering that the narrative is also designed to be polar opposite of its predecessor!). Either way I just found out how to unlock 1999 mode without finishing the game, so I'm gonna start again on that difficulty (hopefully that'll fix some of my issues with the game)

It's a shame that Nintendo aren't more proactive about promoting their service and the dev sign up process publically. To their own admittance, many indie devs don't even know about the changes they've made since the Wii Ware days with many people like Joe Fish (FEZ) assuming that nothing has changed since then. It's all well and good that they've taken these barriers down, but they need to be more proactive and actually go to these devs, Wii U/3DS dev kits in hand and actually ask them to bring their games to their platforms!
-
Hopefully, 2 and 3 will follow (along with Radiant Historia) and then all 3 games can be released alongside Devil Survivor 2 3DS in Europe as part of an Atlus "we're sorry for how we treated Europe" ambassador programme!

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion
Dcubed replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
True, but they have GROSELLY underestimated demand for the 3DS version. It sold out before they even finished fulfilling pre-orders! (My friend tried to buy the 3DS version on Shopto on Wednesday and got sent a Wii U one instead - good thing he has both consoles!) How could they have thought that the 3DS version could only have done slightly more than the Wii U version!? - the userbase size difference is massive! Of course... They want to force people to buy from the eShop, where they get a higher sales margin, obviously... -
Toki Tori 2 comes out next Thursday on Wii U Bit Trip Runner 2 Wii U is also coming out sometime in April for Europe.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Looking at the Recent Sellers chart in the UK eShop, MH3U is currently number 2 (GEE, I WONDER WHY!?). Will be interesting to see if NOE give out eShop numbers to brag, like what NOA did with FEA (which they also under shipped...)
