Since when has any Mario Party or Wii Party game ever gotten a good review? These games aren't meant for the likes of CVG or IGN; they're social games that are designed for local play, laughs and punching the dick next to you who just nicked your last star

My favourite memory is probably me screaming like a little girl when playing ZombiU... ... And then proceeding to make everyone else scream when playing Luigi's Ghost Mansion in Nintendo Land! BOOOOOHOHOHOHO!!!!! Those games are legit scary! Seriously! Turn off the lights and Luigi's Ghost Mansion becomes shit-your-pants scary!

You could. It would work just fine (it's just a download code like any other).

Considering that Vitei is working on Steel Diver Subwars (they're a tiny team of about 5 people) I get the feeling that it's a 3DS game and not Wii U... NES Remix is odd though. Since it's classified as one product, it can't be a new range of retro re-releases... Either it's a VC compilation to be sold at retail (doubtful; I wouldn't think that Nintendo would want to devalue their VC games like that) or it's some sort of 8 bit throwback game...

Including that with all the other launches is such a cheat! (in Japan it launched a full whopping year before it came out in the west - meaning that the western launch consisted of both the 1st AND the 2nd wave of software); always annoys me when people keep saying that it was the best console launch ever when it shouldn't really count... Discounting the Dreamcast's western launch, the Gamecube undoubtedly had (by a country mile!) the best launch of any console. Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race BS, Rogue Squadron 2, Super Monkey Ball - all exclusive and all on day one (with SSBM and Pikmin just one month afterwards - now THAT's a launch window!) I suppose the moral of the story though is that the quality of a launch lineup means jack shit in regards to the success of a console; be its launch or beyond. The most successful consoles of all time (excluding the Wii) all had piss poor launch lineups. They sold because they had all the mindshare, either from coming off the back of rip-roaring success (PS2) or from their competitors flopping out of the gate (PS1). The launch of a console has also never (with the sole exceptions of PS2 and GBA), been representative of the lifetime sales of a console. Consoles that we now think of as success stories once opened to mediocre numbers that later went on to rebound (DS, 3DS, Megadrive, PS1), started off strong and then rapidly tapered off towards the end (Wii, N64) or perhaps started off mediocre and then got second winds from various unforseable things that revived their fortunes (360 - Kinect, PS3 - price drop/remodel/rebranding, PSP - Monster Hunter). That being said, we've never seen a failure of this magnetude (Wii U) later go on to rebound and the PS4's launch is closely mimicking the PS2's so I'm not expecting things to change - but who knows? There's a first time for everything!

This game really surprised me at Eurogamer. I expected it to play like garbage, given Double Helix's track record, but no; I thought it was actually very solid! It's fun! Uncomplicated fun

No matter what happens, it'll end up having a fantastic library; with games that will be cherished for decades to come. Any console that would give us Monster Hunter 3U, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Nintendo Land, Earthbound in Europe, the first ever GOOD 3D SONIC GAME! (Long thought an oximoron!) and THREE Mario games can surely be considered nothing other than truly amazing! To the bitter end I will follow, no matter what happens. Nintendo have more than earnt my loyalty. I love the console, even if fate would wish it otherwise. They will always have my sword!

I can't even get excited for that, knowing that it's probably gonna be the last ever Mario game for a console (Nintendo still stand a chance in the handheld realm at least I guess). I'd be surprised if they even announce anything new for the Wii U next year outside of Zelda Wii U... I suppose that if the console did end up dying next year though, it would at least have ammassed a great library, even in that small timeframe. I already own more retail games for my Wii U than I bought for the 360 and PS3 combined throughout their entire lifespans. By the end of next year (assuming that SSB4 hits in 2014, Zelda Wii U is the last game that Nintendo makes for the console, but is pushed back to 2015 and they don't end up announcing any new games for the console outside of Zelda U and Steel Diver 2), I will have ended up buying 26 retail games (17 currently owned retail games plus all 9 of the upcoming 1st party titles that we already know about). That's not bad really, I guess (and that's not counting the eShop exclusive game either - when the Wii U actually has quite a bit of indie support at least! It may still be possible for me to make a top 50 Wii U games list when it dies still! )

Feels more like an funeral than a birthday Hard to feel any entusiasm for anything about the console when it's future looks so bleak

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Part of my post was missing... Bloody iPhone... That being said, those days will never return with the current crop of machines. The developers who made those great games back then are gone now and the market has rejected the kinds of games that made those past generations great - leaving no room for anything outside of the Hollywood AAA blockbusters. Indies are our only hope now, outside of a very small select few like Atlus, Capcom (when their execs aren't ruining their games with their corporate meddling) Nintendo, SEGA, Indieszero, Inticreates, Silicon Studios, From Software, Platinum & Treasure; and all of them are fighting just to survive right now It won't be long... ) The PS4 dominating will not save these developers from doom (and once the creators of real quality games are ousted from the industry, it may as well be dead ) But that's another topic entirely -

And with that, another era of PS2 style domination awaits Sony... Homogenous consoles and "traditional" gaming live to fight another day. Nintendo go through their darkest hour, as nearly all major 3rd parties abandon them completely (leaving nothing but indies and collab developed games) - their survival on the very brink - and Xbox's future lies in a cloud of uncertainty as MS goes through corporate transformation in the time of smartphone/tablet encroachment on desktops and Sony dominance in the gaming sector. Dark times ahead outside the lucky few this generation... The PC renascence provides an interesting alternative avenue this time around though... -
Same here. Will be great to finally be able to download other people's songs too! (I didn't use any of my free downloads on JWTB because I couldn't deal with the thought of having them run out forever).

Hmm, interesting... Seems that the game's tutorial and area introduction videos come complete with English subtitles! http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/review/35986 Always a good sign (and hey! If bloody Calciobit/Nintendo Pocket Football Club can get an EU release, I don't see why Jam With The Band Pro can't!)

Monolith Soft helped develop A Link Between Worlds. Not sure exactly what they did in particular, since I have haven't actually seen the credits myself, but if I had to hazard a guess, I'd imagine that it's Monolith Kyoto supplying art assets like they did with Pikmin 3 and Animal Crossing New Leaf...

Great stuff! : peace: That second one would fit right at home in Club LOL

Yeah, I figured that would be what's taking up most of your time. Looking forward to some bangin' tunes

Sticker Star is a fantastic game... if you can look past the fact that it is NOT an RPG... It's more of a point and click style puzzle game (with Paper Mario style turn based battles) than anything else. You have your typical traversal gameplay of Paper Mario (same style of controls and environments), a unique take on the typical turn based battles (removing your typical arsenal of obtainable moves with stickers that you buy or earn by defeating enemies and solving puzzles), but all RPG mechanics are jettisoned completely - no levelling up at all! Also the game is very light on story - you still have funny characters you meet along the way, but it's light on characterisation and text in general (basically the polar opposite of Super Paper Mario). There isn't really anything else quite like it. While I think that jettisoning the focus on story wasn't the best decision, the gameplay is solid and very unique. It's an oddball game for sure and well worth experiencing! (Also the music is fabulous! )

Yeah, I'm enjoying it. Good fun This is to Mario 3D Land what the original Jett Rocket was to Mario Galaxy. It's a nice little 3D/2D hybrid platformer that's pretty well designed. It wont blow you away, but you'll probably still enjoy it (and really, good 3D platformers are very rare these days outside of Mario!) BTW, beat the game and yes, there is substantial post game content (just like Super Mario 3D Land funnily enough )

Plus it would also probably introduce input latency, which would completely destroy the Off TV play experience all together anyway. As a last-ditch-solution, you could always try repositioning the console further away from the TV and using a longer HDMI cable...

That sucks Not much else you can do unfortunately. I'm lucky in that it works in just about every room in my house, but that's just the luck of the draw

Is your Wii U next to a wireless router? If so, try moving it a bit further away (the router's signal might be interfering with the Gamepad signal) Also, try and remove as many physical obstructions as you can (opening doors might help too). Unfortunately, the thicker your wall, the less range you're gonna get on the Gamepad (the materials used in the wall will affect it too). Also the human body is a big obstruction to wireless signals too (water is WiFi's worst nightmare!) - so try playing while pointing the Gamepad in the direction of the console itself... The range is low, but that's the price you pay for a flawless experience with zero lag.

Ahhhhahah, this is gonna be a fun stage Hope you can go around the whole spherical planet!
-
Probably too much work to integrate it into the existing Friend Codes system. Still stupid though.
-
Yeah, it's good fun so far. Tough as nails too!

Yeah, that was total BS. Not happy about having SM3DW spoilt for me there!
