See, I'd be tempted to include Denpa Men and Dillon's Rolling Western, but I wouldn't consider them obscure. They're pretty high profile and are probably as well known as the Pullblox games (which is actually another set of games that makes great use of the 3DS' S3D functionality to make the game easier to play).

Good choice! I forgot about that one! Actually really looking forward to it too! Just annoying that it happens to come out on the same day as Super Mario Maker and Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai... My wallet weeps already.

Can't imagine that's gonna be a great release date for them, what with what they're gonna be up against on other platforms... Must've been something real bad to warrant it.

Great last few nights, cheers for being a great host Zell! If I have a wanky failure, I'll be sure to think of you guys! : peace: -

No problem. I can take care of both of those -
Just grabbed meself a copy of Billy Hatcher. Always been meaning to, never got round to it. Nice little game! A bit half baked (pun intended) in some places but mostly solid stuff. I'm up to world 4 and really quite enjoying it so far Sure it has a few problems (can be hard to judge distances with some jumps with the dodgy shadows, a few physics/collision quirks here and there) but it's pretty original and generally good fun outside of a few duff level design moments that don't really gel. Also, screw everyone who disagrees! The main theme is awesome! LA LA LA LALA LA LA LA LALALA LA LA LALA LA!!!! A real shame that we don't see experimental, quirky and odd ball games like this at retail anymore

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/08/hands_on_devils_third_-_sampling_online_chaos_and_fearing_the_devilry_of_microtransactions F2P trappings in the Wii U multiplayer as well!? Nope. I'm not going near it. Sorry, it looks like it could be fun but I'm not touching anything tainted by the stench of F2P.

Tough one... Only ones that I think would qualify outside of Spirit Camera are Chibi Robo: Let's go Photo (AR), Aeroporter (Dual Screens), Rhythm Thief (Touch Screen on seperate screen/Gyro controls in some sections) and Tokyo Crash Mobs (Touch screen on seperate screen; 3D is also a big help in judging distances in that game) In terms of games that really take advantage of the unique hardware features it offers, they're actually generally high profile (like SM3DL, Kirby Triple Deluxe, AR Games, Streetpass Plaza, A Link Between Worlds etc); most of the ones that are lower profile don't really make much use of the unique 3DS hardware (Spirit Camera is a big exception though - and though it didn't do well critically, I actually quite enjoyed it myself ). Even something like the Steel Diver games aren't really obscure (though they'd surely count as ones that make good use of the 3DS hardware). In terms of games that are obscure (but good!) that don't necessarily make use of the 3DS' unique hardware, there's Crimson Shroud, Attack of the Friday Monsters, Hana Samurai, Virtue's Last Reward, Kokuga, Sayonara Umihara Kawase (though the Vita version is better), The Starship Damrey, Bike Rider DX and Bike Rider DX 2. Everything else is fairly well known. Just a matter of the way the market has changed I suppose as the bottom fell out of it...

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - 26th Sept
Dcubed replied to Serebii's topic in Nintendo Gaming
??? The top screen is 400 x 240 and the bottom one is 320 x 240 - the exact resolution of the 3DS' two screens. No bullshottery here that I can see Oh and I really hope that they change their mind about the two screen thing. Seems like such a waste of a great idea to only have it be for the beginning of the game! -
Recordable sounds!? Oh dear... Moderation suddenly just became that much harder...
-
Xenoblade is hilarious for doing this in, just because the jump animation is so terrible (not to mention the sound effects as well. Fiora sounds like she's having an epidural whenever she hops - oh, not to mention Reyn's super enthusiastic "ALLEY OUP!")

Can't really agree with Glen-i on Double Dash there. I think it's still great! I actually like it a lot more now than I did when it first came out - the semi-realistic physics really make it stand out from the rest of the series! I'd say it's up there amongst MK8, SMK and MKDS as one of the best (MK Wii is my least favourite BTW; don't like how it feels at all and I'm not a big fan of most of the track designs in there - plus it is very lacking in polish in many places that I can't be bothered to go into depth with right now). Likewise, in hindsight I have a lot more appreciation for Mario Sunshine than I did when it first came out. While is does undeniably have its problems (Hotel Delfino is without a doubt the most poorly designed world/stage in all of Mario History), it's a game that is absolutely joyous to play! It has such fantastic game feel and mechanical depth! (belly flopping everywhere is great fun!) Mathew Matosis put it best by calling it "The best unfinished game ever made" Melee is one that I find less fun than I did back in the day though. I actually prefer the slower pace in Brawl and (to a lesser extent, as it is a sort of middle ground) Smash 4 and I feel that they're just much more polished games overall (Brawl's horrible load times excepted of course, they were terrible!); which makes sense, considering that Melee was made in a very short amount of time in comparison. I also prefer the manic chaos that Brawl and Smash 4 provide (I've never been a hardcore competitive player - I'm definately a For Fun guy, even though I like 1 v 1 as well).
-
Yeah, me and my friends/family have always done that too. We were doing it long before Brentlefloss made it cool No lie, the very first thing I did when I got Smash 4 was check to see if the MM Shuffle still worked. Was well chuffed to see that

Yup, that's me! Especially with healing items that you can't buy like Elixirs in Final Fantasy. Will hold onto all of them until the final boss (and still will think that they're too precious to use @Glen\-i will attest to how bad I am when it comes to this!) Aaaand me as well, except that I tend to think that button mashing like a madman makes it work better :p As for some of my own? I love playing in time to the game music. Always find myself doing it; here's a cool one I pulled off in NSMBU... Another thing I always end up doing is messing around with character animations in stupid ways... (it's always funny to see what you can do if you keep tapping the d-pad/analog stick to move) Like Chris Redfield doing the moon walk... or Lloyd Irving with a broken leg... or doing the Luigi Dance! or "sneaking" in MGS... it's even funnier in MGS2! bonus one with Snake's amazing spinning skills... Shulk doing the Chicken Walk... and of course the classic example... The Megaman Shuffle! Also works in Smash Bros 4 too BTW Oh and this is one of my all time faves, Samus' Amazing Wobbly Legs

From the sounds of where things are going, I think it's probably Moogle -
Speaking of which... I really hope that one hits the Wii U eShop eventually, it's a cracking game! It's criminal that never came over! Trauma Team's EU release comes first though As for the issue of the darkness filter used on VC games, again I've gone over this before but most people really don't realise that it is actually done for the sake of accuracy. Really peeves me to see so many claim it to be "bad" emulation when it is actually the right way of displaying these games. Not only did the original consoles originally output a darkened image when the digital video signal gets converted to analogue for display on a TV, but the original CRTs that these games were designed for are also darker than the LCDs and Plasmas that we use today. Just looking at scan line filters used on a myriad of emulators you can see how the image gets darkened in comparison to displaying the raw output. Game developers have always optimised for the type of display that their games are intended to be displayed on; even now, on 3DS in particular, you can see how developers use very bright and saturated pallets because they know that it is going to look darker and less saturated on an actual 3DS display (OoT3D's pallet in comparison to the N64 original is a really obvious example of this - hell you can even see this with screenshots of the 3DS NES VC in comparison to the Wii U NES VC - the former looks brighter in screenshots, but when comparing the displays side by side, they'll look the same in person. Same thing for the people who complain about the NES/SNES games being displayed in a "stretched" 4 x 3 aspect ratio instead of being output in its raw resolution - that's how the games are supposed to look! Samus' morth ball is meant to be a circle, not an oval dammit! :p Oh, BTW, thanks @Hero\-of\-Time for making me want Rare Replay again. Dammit! I don't have the money for another console right now!!!

N-Europe Summer Meet Up 2015 - Saturday 15th August
Dcubed replied to Goron_3's topic in General Chit Chat
Sounds good to me. What's happening on Friday though guys? Same! : peace: -
Course we will. And chances are likely that everything being released on the Wii U VC will all be forward compatible on NX anyway (hence why they're focusing so much on the Wii U VC, while the 3DS VC is completely dead).

Dcubed replied to Goron_3's topic in General Chit Chat
Yeah, I can go on Friday and Saturday! Didn't realise that you lived so close to me Zell, creepy! (I'm like 5-10 mins away from Cally station). I can bring tons of gaming junk with me then in that case! So when and where exactly are we meeting? This thread is pretty confusing! -
Can it out-horrify Just Dance Mario? ... maybe it can!
-
Yeah, it's pretty crappy looking. Nothing but sales. But yeah, last month tells me that it isn't happening now
-
Which version? (I'm guessing it's the GBA one)
-
I didn't do all of them on my first playthrough, just some of them (a big chunk of them were done along the way passively). If you did all of them you're probably looking at about 150+ hours.
