  1. Announced in this video below at 51:09 (apparently the DLC is free!) Nice
  2. Considering that N64 VC games are £9.99 and Wii games were sold for £17.99 on Wii U, £13.99 for GCN games sounds about right.
  3. A poor framerate on console? It really is a new Banjo Kazooie game!
  4. Ahh, World of Goo is every bit as brilliant as I remember it being. Controls feel fantastic with the Joycons too! Just as good as the Wii Remote. Visuals look nice in HD as well (not massively different from Wii, given the clean art style, but the finer details are clearer and sharper and just that bit more pleasant). Really great how you can seamlessly switch to the touchscreen as well (which, while not as good as the pointer controls of the Wiimote of Joycon, work will in their own right for portable play). Can't recommend WOG enough. If you haven't played it before, it's an absolute belter! One of the best games to ever hit the Wii, now even better! Played the first few levels of Snake Pass too. Really cool game, slow paced but makes you think. Great fun!
  5. Sure, it might be technically "playable" without the download... until you get an hour into it and then it prompts you to download the rest of the game A gutted N64, with its case modded and the Switch dock placed inside for SN'Gs.
  6. What if the publisher refuses to release the game for Switch unless Nintendo allow them to do this? What do Nintendo do in that circumstance? Remember that Nintendo is in a position of weakness here, coming off the back of Wii U and struggling for any sort of support from western developers/publishers...
  7. Pretty sure that's just retailer specific and that the RRP is the same across all platforms (at least, that's the case in the US; where it goes for the full $59.99). You're absolutely right about what WB is gonna do though. You just know it's gonna happen...
  8. It's total bogus. The cartridge is literally useless on its own. You might as well be buying a download code. Might as well call it for what it is, a fake cartridge.
  9. Uh oh... http://nintendoeverything.com/lego-city-undercovers-packaging-mentions-needing-up-to-13gb-of-space-for-game-download-on-switch/ Publishers are already starting to resort to scummy tactics in order to cheap out on game card sizes it seems... I never even considered the possibility. Nintendo had best do something about this or you're gonna start seeing a lot of other publishers pouncing on the idea I reckon
  10. So yeah, it's Splatoon and it's still fun. The splat dualies are cool and the game feels nice to play with the split joycons, but the map is a big downgrade from the Wii U original. Not being able to see what needs to be covered at a glance is a big annoyance and the map controls are less than ideal (though I suppose the best they could do given the circumstances). What I don't get though is why we can't use the touchscreen for the map when playing in handheld mode. It's really awkward to use the gyro to point to where you want to go when playing in handheld mode, I don't get why you can't just touch the map! Doesn't feel much different from the original though. Splatoon 1.5 indeed. Wouldn't be surprised if they eventually port over all the maps/weapons from the original and make it redundant outside of the single player.
  11. At the very least, we know that the Switch VC will have online multiplayer support and the ability to seamlessly switch between TV and portable play. Those are some pretty killer features already, let alone what else they could potentially add (local wireless multiplayer, for console and GB/GBC/GBA/DS games, multiple restore points, HD rumble support, online video live streaming etc). I'm gonna miss Miiverse though. I really hope it comes back... Was so fun playing caption contest with all my old favourites.
  12. Each VC version comes with its own set of unique features that enhance the experience. Be it far better quality video output than the original hardware, Suspend Saves, Restore Points, wireless multiplayer (soon to be online multiplayer on Switch), Miiverse support, button remapping, Off TV play, portability etc that make it a better experience than playing on the original hardware. You don't want the new features that come with this release? Then just stick with your older version. It doesn't cease to exist just because it's now on Switch with more new features Meanwhile, I'll gladly pay a small fee for new VC versions of my favourite games with even more value-add features
  13. I expect the same deal as on Wii U. Small upgrade fee if you already own them on Wii U (don't think they'll be able to carry over purchases from Wii though. Can't see how it would work from a technical standpoint). I do wonder if we'll see DS VC games this time. A lot of games wouldn't work well at all without a stylus and while good capacitive styli do exist now, there isn't yet an official Nintendo one... It covers the cost of producing these new versions. VC releases do cost money to produce, so of course they're not gonna give them away for nothing. It's good that they even have the discount; they could just as easily pull a Sony and give you absolutely nothing for your past purchase (referring to PS2 games going from PS3 to PS4). It's not like carrying over something that's backwards compatible (which they did for free for your Wii downloads on Wii U).
  14. http://gematsu.com/2017/03/first-look-radiant-historia-perfect-chronology Seems that it's more of a remaster than a remake. So it's basically the same deal as Devil Survivor Overclocked, but for Radiant Historia.
  15. It also helps a lot that Switch has native support for Unreal Engine 4, unlike Wii U. Makes development a hell of a lot easier for them.
  16. Not surprising. Good that they're offering an option for a refund, but I'll gladly swap over from Wii U to Switch.
  17. Actually we are getting screwed over. We're not getting the Blu-ray with 1080p versions of all the cutscenes from Radiant Dawn, Awakening, Fates and Valentia like what Japan gets (and typically, that's the thing I wanted the most...)
  18. Will say that the logo does also imply a potential sequel in the works... Hope it does come out over here. As said before, the original is a great game and I'll gladly snap up a remake!
  19. Radiant Historia is a good game and all, but I can't help feel that this remake is coming far too late on 3DS. Should really have been for Switch at this point.
  20. Huh, guess it wasn't actually a VC release, but rather S-E are doing their own collection release for Seiken Densetsu's 25th anniversary. How I pray for an SD3 localisation...
  21. Disgusting. You are worse than Satan himself
  22. https://mobile.twitter.com/Seiken_PR/status/843658507719127040 Seemingly our first look at SNES VC on Switch, with Seiken Densetsu 3 running on it. Looks like there's an option for borders alongside the sides of screen. I hope you can turn those off...
  23. Damn. Sorry to hear that bud. Sucks big time
  24. Switch only supports 5.1 LPCM over HDMI (and it has to be directly connected to your receiver). If your receiver doesn't support that, or you're trying to carry it over optical at some point along the chain, you'll just get stereo. It's exactly the same deal as Wii U. The upside is that the sound quality is second to none though!
  25. Makes sense, considering the lack of Streetpass support on Switch. I'm still disappointed to see that nobody has done a battery test for ideal conditions yet (lowest brightness, flight mode, playing a simple game like Shovel Knight etc). I've noticed that the battery drain is a lot lower on games like Blaster Master Zero than Zelda and this guy managed to get 5 hours 12 mins leaving it on the main menu, but he still had it on full brightness and with wireless enabled. Interested in seeing someone do an idyllic test...
