  1. That's a much bigger upgrade over the Wii U version than I thought! Very impressive! Switch is almost on par with the PS4 here (and even has some minor advantages in docked mode!) and well ahead of Wii U. Good to see Also it's interesting to see that the Switch version actually runs in a higher resolution than the Xbone version.
  2. You probably got that off of me, since that's what I was originally thinking they did to make these (Turned out that I was wrong, it was still a plausable guess though!) Anyway, it's bafflingly stupid, but it is a typical Nintendo-like decision, so par for the course really
  3. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1360413 It has finally happened. A game has achieved more than a 100% attach ratio! Oh, and Switch has had the second best US launch of any console or handheld ever (behind only the PS4); and it managed to achieve this in March. Not a bad start really
  4. I laughed like a hyena at the Devilish Brain Training announcement. I love how even they acknowledged the ridiculous delay I actually didn't think they'd bother with Monster Hunter Stories and Miitopia after their disappointing Japanese sales either. Bodes well for continued localisations of the remaining titles (Dai Gyakuten Saiban 1 & 2 feels like a real possiblity now!) Just for fun, the list of remaining, significant, Japanese only 3DS titles that Nintendo/3rd parties could still bring over... There's still plenty left for Nintendo to bring over to keep the 3DS going for a while, even though the 1st party well has pretty much completely dried up now. Agreed. It's really cool to see them revive the Namco Museum label (how long has it been? Almost a decade by now I think!), but I find it hard to get excited by a NM collection that consists of nothing but the early titles... yet again... Gimme some of the System 22 and 23 titles and more games from around that era and I'll be MUCH more interested though!
  5. Payday 2 is a nice (and surprising) announcement, but it's not a AAA title and it's also quite an old one. Yeah, I think most of us here have already accepted that the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Destiny 2 are not gonna come. You're just not gonna see the big western publishers support Switch with their flagship titles, it's not in their interest to do so. Unlike Wii and Wii U however, Switch should be getting most of the major Japanese titles. Expect the same kind of support the 3DS got, but on a home console this time. That in of itself is actually quite exciting though!
  6. Pokken has to be a shoe-in for Switch. If not at E3, then now seems like a good time to announce it. I mean, the fact that the new content from the Arcade version hasn't come to Wii U speaks volumes... Also, you know, LAN/Local Wireless is kind of a big thing with Switch...
  7. Yeah, I guess so. I suppose we just got lucky before when we got the afternoon slot, now I've been spoilt by it :p
  8. Glad to hear you're enjoying it @Hero\-of\-Time. Looking forward to getting a chance to sit down with it and get stuck in myself (Hopefully later on today! )
  9. I'm pretty sure that the reason that's not happening is because they're coming via the VC instead (which, looking at the developer's past track record and what happened with the Mega Man Legacy Collection, would definitiely be the preferable option). Only just barely mind you. 23:00 BST is such a stupid time for a Direct! (Even in Japan, it's like 07:00 in the morning! It's like they only care about the US here )
  10. Dragon Quest XI is a possible show here too. Maybe we'll get a western announcement for the 3DS game here? Or perhaps even our first look at the Switch version?
  11. That's a LOT earlier than I had expected! Especially for the PS4 version which, prior to this trailer, looked like nothing more than a basic tech demo. Perhaps the Switch version might still come out this year after all? (especially if it's just a port of the PS4 one and not a unique version - would be cool if it swapped between the PS4 version on the TV and the 3DS one in Handheld mode!)
  12. April Fools comes late this year! Woohoo! Come on Mother 3, GCN Virtual Console and F-Zero NX!
  13. There's a Japanese demo for Spelunker World up on the Japanese eShop right now (you'll find the game under the Coming Soon tab since the game isn't out in Japan yet). Is actually pretty fun! Hope it comes out in English!
  14. What I want to see most of all is more new kinds of games like ARMS and 1,2, Switch. Games that could only be done on this hardware.
  15. The writing throughout these Eurogamer articles is downright embarassing. Much of it reads more like a fanboyish forum post than a professional article! I mean, just LOOK at some of this junk... Says a lot about the journalistic integrity on display here. Microsoft payed for travel and accomodation you say? Oh gee, it doesn't show at all here...
  16. Looking at the comparisons this guy did on Neogaf shows that the Switch version is a clear improvement over the Wii U one in terms of resolution (Wii U one was native 720p). Good to see that some effort was put into the Switch version after all. Was thinking that they'd just settle for Wii U level performance and call it a day.
  17. Indeed it is. I doubt that Nintendo is paying that cost for each machine though as they're probably getting a sweetheart discount for the Tegra X1 chips (due to Nvidia struggling to sell them) and the screen (as Japan Display have been really struggling recently and are kinda desperate for high profile clients). Otherwise they'd probably be selling the consoles at a loss with a BOM that high.
  18. Various high quality videos/framerate vids from Gamersyde, including co-op (they're all really good) Looks like it does indeed run in full 1080p in docked mode after all. Seems to be a much better port than I initially thought Shame that the co-op framerate isn't great, but you have to remember that the Wii U version didn't have co-op at all. It's actually pretty impressive to see an open world game with a splitscreen co-op mode at all, especially when there are no restrictions as to how far apart each player can seperate from each other! Loading times still suck balls though. Very disappointing, considering that it was always the game's biggest issue. Supposedly it does load about 33% faster from internal storage though (with the digital version, obviously).
  19. Not really. Reviews are a product of their time. Yooka Laylee is not being judged by the same reviewer preferences and standards as in 1998. This game was specifically designed to recapture the gameplay and charm of the original BK and BT and by all accounts, it has done exactly that. However, reviewers today are not looking for a game like that and are slamming it for being just like those games released back on the N64. So seeing YL getting review scores similar to the XBLA re-releases of BK and BT is not terribly surprising. Jim Sterling calls it a game out of time and that's why it's being reviewed poorly. For fans of those original N64 games though, it's exactly what they wanted.
  20. Seems about right
  21. From what I hear, the PS4 and Xbone versions are no better when it comes to loading times (and the performance isn't much better either supposedly); so yeah, just a mediocre port really. Retail is barren and will be for quite some time, but the eShop already has quite the selection of quality titles; a fair few of them are exclusives too, such as Snipperclips, FAST RMX and Blaster Master Zero (if you don't count the 3DS version that launched day and date with it)
  22. MS really have a chip on their shoulder after having their hardware outdone by Sony this generation...
  23. Good to hear that there's seemingly no mandatory patch afterall. Sounds like a pretty mediocre port overall though.
  24. Yup, hugely disappointed. What good is being able to see what games you've played if you can't see how long you've played them for!? Hopefully they fix that in the future...
  25. Better than the Wii U version, but still unacceptably long. Looks like a poor port job really. With the Switch having more than 3 times the amount of RAM to work with than the Wii U, I don't see why they don't just leave the open world in RAM at all times and just avoid having to reload it alltogether
